    We really like your channel because it helps us out with our Baja. This is a project I've been wanting to tackle. Some of the tabs for the trim are discontinued and we haven't been able to find a suitable replacement. Thanks for this video you did a good job. We hope you achieve your goals with your channel.

      @@AdventureGT I'm the same as them, your videos even convinced me to buy the car - and i live in Europe o_O i've not taken the cladding off since breaking it would be catastrophic, but ignoring rust could also be catastrophic, and is usually how Subarus end. Well done for keeping your one going :)

    Always wondered how it looked without the cladding, definitely good preventative maintenance.

    Wow. That's a pretty impressive car wash you went to. Looks super clean and looked like good pressure!

    I am so sorry about the deer incident. Makes me wanna invest in a bull bar...
    I think I will definitely need to do some similar rust fixes to my Baja as well, and having a whole tutorial on how to keep those elusive body tabs on hand is great to have in the coming months. Keep on keeping on! The Baja is really coming together every week.
    I think my first mods will be the bull bar front+back (lots of highway drivers ride asses here), wood panelling from a LL Bean Outback, and the stereo system! Gonna look into the LED interior and exterior swap as well. Your guys' channel has been an amazing resource for caring for such an elusive vehicle.

      @@AdventureGT I don't have an Insta but might make one in the future to showcase the Baja. I really wanna imitate the appearance of the ST-X while following a bit of the Brat inspiration with muscle car vibes. Can't wait to see what you guys do next!

    This video helped show me how easily these panels can be popped off, im working on restoring a rotted one of these, far worse than yours and this showed me how to get the bumper and stuff off too. The rear crash bar only half exists on this poor girl

      Happy to help! You can still order the crash bar new I think

    Ngl the yellow looks a lot cooler without the cladding. Makes me wonder what a yellow paint matched cladding would look like

    How did you get the clip on the off. The last one behind the front tire w what looks like a metal washer? I can’t seem to get that one off it’s a metal screw that just spins.

    • @AdventureGT
      @AdventureGT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but I'm not sure which one your talking about. But if the screw or bolt is just spinning. It means the mounting hardware is messed up or broken. You'll have to force fully push/pull the piece though. Or drill it out and replace it

    Great video topic and I really appreciate seeing you remove the body panels. Did you get underneath the car? How are your repairs holding up? This rust / body panels stuff applies to not only the Baja but the Chevy Avalanche!! (Also has a pass through door. :) The Chevy has a frame and that rusts badly but so do the body panels. Please include links to the products you used.

      As for the product used. I'll drop it in the video description.
      Hope it helps!

    My Subaru Forester sg got rust inside the fuel door panel. Moisture gets stuck in there and slowly rusted the metal. I noticed it because bubbles started forming on the outside of the car. It's so difficult to go in there and sand the rust... I can only get a finger or two in there lol. Theres not much space. How do I deal with it ? Do I cut the outside metal and just clean the whole thing?

    • @AdventureGT
      @AdventureGT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 things.
      First I would remove the interior in the back of your car, and check to see if it's rusting though from the inside.
      Second. I would remove the fuel door assemble. And take a wire pipe cleaner to the inside where the two panels meet.
      It's super flexible and can reach deep ro remove excess surface rust.
      Then order *Eastwoods Internal Frame* coating. Like in my video, use the tube to reach way deep in between the panels.
      As long as every thing gets covered it will keep it from rusting any further.
      I hope this helps!!

    Is the cladding easy to take off and re install? Did any clips break?

    • @AdventureGT
      @AdventureGT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was really easy and I didn't break any of my clips for the cladding. I did on the bed trim though

      @@AdventureGT how did you go about replacing the 3m weather stripping on the cladding?

    • @AdventureGT
      @AdventureGT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I take it your talking about the body seal strip? Mine didn't fall off so it's still the original stayed with the panel no problem

      Nah, in the end it would have too much body filler for my liking, that and thr botten is pretty rusted. I bit the bullet and got a reproduction fender and I'll pained it :)
