Exceptional performance, these are my my favorite performances of these etudes. Thanks for uploading

Yes, his playing is amazing. And, Mazeppa is one of the 3 most complex and amazing sounding etudes, the others being Fuex Follets and Chasse Neige

For those who saw the entire concert I love the transition with Mazeppa.....First 3 etudes were like "ok it's done" and then you see Boris taking some time to begin Mazeppa like "ok.....now it starts for real"🤣

This guy has better stamina than usain bolt

    • @tomt3956
      @tomt3956 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Lol, given the fact, that he did not have stamina, and didn't need it for only short time full power runs, that is quite a bad example :D

Tom T exactly. Apparently usian bolt would loose on a marathon because his body is used to small sprints, like a cheetah

Hamelin has the greatest stamina of all pianists. He plays the Alkan concerto, and still looks like he “has more in the tank” while playing the insane climaxes

You mean Mo Farah. Bolt only ran 100m to 400m !

The composer's mind was sure 'busy' and full of many wide-ranging passionate expressions.

It's very interesting to see how efficient he is in his technique. Especially with longer arms, he knows exactly how to use physics and the wrist/elbow levers in a minimal way and yet achieve such clarity and speed.

Awesome performance! Nobody has or ever will play these Etudes better than this.

Subjective opinion, of course, but I think Daniil Trifonov may have played these etudes with more heart and musical sensitivity. Check him out.

@@sergeisavitski7339 I have Trifonov's CD which won the Gramophone Award. My main concern here is that Berezovsky has never played better than these videos where he is wearing a dark blue shirt and sweating profusedly. Usually his playing is good but not great, where here he is absolutely stunning. I like Kissin's 'Feux Follets' more than anyone, but to me No. 11 'Harmonies du Soir' with Berzovsky is at least equal to Richter and surpasses everyone else.

carl armstrong absolutely right! Harmonies du soir no 11 and Appassionata no 10 I feel he did the best on. Although all of his etudes were stunning none the less in this performance

Техника на грани фантастики, можно сказать сверх возможности человека. Не зря писали, что во времена Листа это было неисполняемо.

Interesting, Berezovsky uses his hands to play this, while Trifonov uses his hands, his back and his arse ! I love watching them both play this, don't get me wrong. And anybody who can despatch this has my undying respect.

Yes. I listen to Trifonov and think there are nice things. Then come back to Boris and think he is no Boris. Boris is technically supreme but has the musical intensity too.

I mostly agree, however, depending on which performance, Trifonov has many nice touches that Berezovsky doesn't deliver.

I started with Trivonov but moved to Cziffra because I thought he would be even better but the TH-cam I found of him lacked in the musicality department in my view. I thought he would be brilliant but I much preferred Berezovsky's version.

War Crimes: This pianist has found the courage to declare Putin's lies to be true. If this had happened to me. I would swear not to touch a piano key again until Putin is out of office. He should now also have the courage to tell the truth: That Russia is waging an aggressive war of invasion against Ukraine, with many civilians losing their lives at the hands of the Russian army.

It must be admitted Berezovsky remains unsurpassed in that repertoire. Nobody has ever butchered Liszt more completely than him. Probably nobody ever will.
