@@LiquidToolExperiment what's the biggest difference between this and a pure bonemancer? Spear and spirit are high magic damage skills that are easier to aim.

@@jameshaulenbeek5931 Equally geared, hammers will do about 3 times more damage per hit than spear/spirit. The 2 characters play very differently though. Bonemancer just doesn't have the endgame clear speed that hammerdins do. Excellent pvp characters though. Probably the best budget pvp in the game, aside from a hammerdin lol.

First time playing diablo 2, I suck at builds so I take what others suggested, I'm doing Holy fire paladin then I think after normal. I'll try building hammerdin seems up my alley. So far loving the game all I heard from friends that played back in the day that it's awesome. 3 hours in I like it so far. Sucks I work alot tho. Sigh. I wasn't a fan of phone gaming but now I kinda wish I could on breaks but diablo isn't available on gamepass Mobile.😕

I finally tried D2 Hammerdin and honestly hated it. I'm probably too used to D3 Crusader Hammerdins, but the fact hammers get stopped by walls got really frustrating plus I could never hit anything lol

REDEMPTION IS A MUST! You essentially have a rejuvenation potion in a skill ,1 is enough

Hmmm can't decide what to play first :)
Hammerdin sounds like it might be the easiest to farm gear for other stuff, but I'm not that big of a fan of farming with only one skill - it is fun for me for a little while, but gets stale later...
Other contenders would be a wind druid, since I haven't played an elementalist druid yet and want to.
Or bonemancer - i'm playing one currently and while the kill speed did slow down a lot in hell I like having decrepify and boneprison as control elements... i'm really enjoying playing the one in old D2..

Good guide. Honestly wouldn't advise any new players to start with this though. It will really give you a wrong impression as virtually no other build in the game can get away mowing through the it using only 2-3 abilities, this is just an outlier that never got fixed cause Blizzard North dissolved.

I don't understand what I'm missing. Everyone talks about there massive damage but at level 25 skills, max hammer and such, mine wasn't doing damage like everyone raves about. What am I doing wrong?

There's endgame values on blessed hammer that people talk about, but the reality - even just reaching 6-8k hammer damage will clear areas pretty easily because they deal "magic" type damage, which means there's very few things resistant to it, much less immune

Any runeword suggestions for single player non D2R players like me who doesn't have access to ladder runewords?

it's pretty easy to enable the ladder runewords in SP (requires a text file and modified shortcut, no actual changes to the game itself), though for purely non-ladder, you would probably be looking at stuff like Splendor and Honor for "affordable" runewords... though an fcr wand might be better than an honor in some cases.

Why do you need 3 different Auras maxed when you can only have one active at a time?

Synergies - Blessed Hammer gets a damage boost from Blessed Aim and Vigor, Concentration gives blessed hammer an additional damage boost while active - so you run Vigor to move places quickly and use Concentration to maximize damage when not transitioning areas.

Ok so I get confused. Can you clarify this for me please?
I’m running holy fire level 17 right now on normal with some friends.
Should I just stay with this build until nightmare then respec for hammerdin build?
I’m seeing a lot of conflicting things. What do u think? I’m having fun with holy fire

I prefer waiting until Nightmare, so I can get runewords to make the build function more smoothly (Insight for my mercenary, Spirit Sword/Shield - which you usually won't get the supplies for until Nightmare).
It is possible to switch sooner, but you will be chugging mana potions like crazy until you get access to Insight at the very least. (you can run meditation yourself, but then you'll be sacrificing a lot of potential damage)

I’ll take ur advice and start looking to make the switch in nightmare thank you
