My first foray into brioche ever in my 54 years of knitting. Thank you for this terrific video, you make it look so easy!

I have watched SO MANY videos, trying to understand this cast on! Thank you for making it achievable!

I found this video helpful back when I was making my swatch, and since time has passed, I rewatched it, and it was perfect all over again. Thank you for your clear instructions, calm and supportive narrative, careful videography, and overall efficient instructional video!

Would it be possible to see how you join this cast on in the round? I can’t seem to get it right.

I have never ever bought a pattern for myself but I have been eyeing up your weekender sweater and I’m hoping to buy it for my birthday and on the description you say you use a tubular cast on! Hence how I found you. Can’t wait. I’ve never loved so many designs from one artist before!
    Thank you

Oh my goodness- I've met you and knit several of your patterns- but this is the first time I've watched any video/tutorial. Let me sum it up here- You're ADORABLE....you're TALENTED and CREATIVE - and your voice is so soothing and sweet. That might sound creepy and I apologize- but I have a podcast and do the editing and have to hear myself and so I'm lamenting in an envious sort of way !! :)

Hi, just watned to say that I really appreciate the effort you put into writing your patterns. I just bought the Harlow hat and am watching Nancy Marchant’s class. I don’t think I could learn brioche without these clear, helpful videos and the thorough pattern instructions. Great job teaching to both of you ladies!

Thanks for the clarification that the side with the super obvious decreases is the wrong side! I would have worked the entire hat up to the decreases assuming it was the right side! Good to know.

Your video is so helpful and clearly explained. I am looking for videos on how to join in the round at this point before I start my 1st 2 rows of brioche. Could you point me in the right direction or consider doing a tutorial? Thanks!

What bind off would you use with this?

Thank you Andrea, for such a clear tutorial. Even though it's not needed for this particular hat pattern, would you consider doing a tutorial for a tubular bind off? Or have you already? :-)

No matter what I did my stitches kept getting totally twisted...I'd get one light stitch, one dark stitch, etc but they were totally twisted up. The fact that we are doing this with fingering weight yarn makes it harder IMHO. I finally gave up on this cast on and went back to my old favorite long tail using two colors.

If you try this cast on in the future, you may want to try doing it on straight needles through the tubular set up rows for more stability so that the stitches don't twist.

Thanks for the great idea! I will try it again on a straight needle. (I also appreciate the reply when you are so busy).

I tried this on a straight needle and it made a really big difference. What made the most difference though was reminding my self to stay loose while I did the cast on....that led to no twists....I'm still not a real brioche fan, but if I've only learned a tubular cast on (or double color cast on) your job is done! Thank you so much Andrea. I'm sure I'll revisit your hat in the future.

How do you count the cast on, 1MC+1CC = 1 or each strand = 1?

    • @dreareneeknits
      @dreareneeknits  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Each strand is a stitch :)

This is wonderful! Thank you so much! I wonder if you would share your favorite way to join in the round for two color brioche - usually when I join in the round I add a stitch and k2tog. - but not quite sure how to avoid “ladder” in this situation. Getting the tension just right at the BOR has been tricky for me working with two colors. TIA. :D

I didn't do anything special besides giving a little tug at the first stitch of each round. As your hat grows it snaps into place nicely! And then any little gap right at the edge can be closed up with your tail from the cast on :)

Andrea Mowry wonderful! Thank you so much! Loving this and keep thinking of other yarn combos. So fun!
