Нi. We were connecting via ethernet cable to this model PLC. But had to change the old controling PC's motherboard. In the process the IP settings were lost, so PC cannot connect to PLC anymore. What can be done to find PLC's IP, or set the PC's netcard to connect with it. Will it help me if I find the MAC address of the PLC? I am not sure we csn get the software to set the new IP easily.
@StrikeCommand13: For the new PC, you only need to change its ethernet adapter to make it on the same network with the controller. However, if you do not know the controller IP address, it might be a problem. My recommendation is "DO NOT change the controller IP". There is a device that can help you find the IP address of the controller. Below is the video I found should be very helpful for what you need. DB-9 by default is DF-1. (1) "RS-232 DF-1 Devices" for driver type and then the key is to make sure (2) comm port matches with your laptop port connected to the controller and (3) "Logix5550/compactlogix" is selected for "Device" and then (4) click on "Auto-Configure". if you get "Auto Configuration Successful", you are good now. However, if you don't get it after 2-3 times, that means DB-9 on your controller is not DF-1, you might have to use 1747-UIC converter to convert DH485 (over RS-232) to DF-1 (over RS-232) and then from there another converter cable to conver DF-1 (over RS-232) to DF-1 (USB) to be able to connect to laptop.
