  • U.S. Army Soldiers pack the T-11 Non-Maneuverable Canopy, reserve parachute, during routine maintance at the 1st Battallion, 10th Group, rigger shed on Panzer Kaserne, Boeblingen, Germany.
    The Non-Maneuverable Canopy (T-11) Personnel Parachute System is the newest personnel parachute system to be adopted by the United States armed forces and the Canadian Army.[1] The T-11 replaces the T-10, introduced in 1955. The T-11 includes a completely redesigned main and reserve parachute and an integrated harness assembly that is suitable for a wider range of soldier weights than the previous system. -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-11_par...

    The old T-10 reserves were a pain in the butt, in my opinion. And these don't look much easier.

      +Patrick Petrowsky Try packing a AFB, that's what Slim Pickins (Maj. Kong) had on his back, riding the 'bomb" in the movie Dr. Strangelove.

    Those weights are red probably so you won’t accidentally fold them into the parachute because that would be a bad day.

      @@theheartlandgroup757 apologies if I wasn’t clear. I spent 4 years in the Army as a rigger and never saw anyone go that slow except at rigger school when we were first learning. My point was that they are packing as slow as first time students.

    I see the Riggers working on both tables, does each rigger have one certain job to do or is one rigger responsible for each pack?

    What sucks here is that when I was in the 82nd, they would take us to see how the chutes were packed. Wow, these guys hold life in their hands, what I was questioning is, what happens if the packer is pissed off at something and he doesn't give a **** one day and he packs incorrectly on purpose? They do have inspectors that check them, but NOT the inside. Scary stuff. At least from what I saw. Go 82nd.

    • @roberthixon5638
      @roberthixon5638 ปีที่แล้ว

      The riggers used to have to jump the chute's they packed randomly to help ensure nothing like that would happen.

    RIGGER! How often do you have to re-pack reserve chutes? I don’t mean the exceedingly rare deployed reserve re-pack, but is there a “proficiency” test once a week, month, quarter?

    • @timprescott4634
      @timprescott4634 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Not the A.T.F. How often are y’all tested for proficiency? Is the “toss you a random chute and reserve and go
      jump it” still a thing?
