Just cause it's smaller does not mean the packing list gets smaller.
Could have just issue the MALICE from Tac Tailor…
every officer should have to read "a soldier's load". lightening the load is everyone's business.
Does the soldier not pack as he see’s fit?
Nobody tells me what goes in my bergen.
Out of all the packs I've ran through, both Marine Corps and Army. The molle 4k is by far the worse one I have ever used
We had the CFS90 last unit i was in most older soldiers humped large Alice instead. 91-92
Alot of soldiers make the mistake of using the compression sack for their sleep system, they would save alot more space if they just put the sleep system into the pack and let it 'fill the voids' like water takes shape of the cup
U can buy a after market sleep system for 70$ that's 1/4 the size and twice as warm
@@tomdairy4305 I doubt for that little, I have a 2 down sleep systems and ultralight bivy bag that was about 500$~ It weights just under 4lbs for all 3
@@LukePRTR you're an idiot if you're using down anything in military operations. military stuff gets wet and down becomes deadly when wet, this is why we use synthetics
Used it on a 12 mile ruck march. Fucked up my upper back because of those straps. The old Alice Rucks are way better witch is not surprising
Dude just make the Alice pack taller and wider with a composite frame and LETS GO !!!!!!!
At SFAS, the cadre actually offered any candidates with a 4K the chance to swap out for a large MOLLE ruck. They said something like, "We're gonna torture you here, but not that badly. We know those things suck" Also, most of the guys in SOPC who had hip and back issues were using the 4K. Myself and some folks at my unit opt to use the old ALICE with the tac tailor pads. its LIGHTYEARS better.
Along with that, I don't use any issued gear, besides the assault pack, sleep system, and IFAK. My chest rig and battle belt are all aftermarket from reputable manufacturers.
The biggest issue with this pack imo is the lack of sustainment pouches, just less useful than the large ruck. Speaking from experience
I just got issued one. Might buy some to add on the sides. They are really convenient for quick access gear.
@@freddyt86 I tried because of the placement of the molle web you cannot fully secure the sustainment pouches and you cant use the straps on the sides to cinch them down as easily as the regular large ruck
After seeing all the comments... I'm glad i missed out on this thing. I had the MOLLE II ruck from 2009-2014. If I'd known how to size it properly, it might not have caused the problems for me it did. Then again... my torso is a bit short. The ALICE smacked me in the head if I could get it to rest on my hips.
I love how everyone here hates the Molle 4000
I like the assult pack. I hate army equipment in general but the assult pack is one of the few things I like
That and the woobie
why doesnt the army buy 1000 different backpacks, issue them out and have the soldiers write reports on them?
You want a COTS solution? That would make too much sense! Just came from a highly deployed USAF unit, and all our backpacks were either straight civilian or civilian-military line. We stayed away from pretty much everything with a NSN. Although the medium ruck is really good, liked it more than Mystery Ranch.
The sergeants major mafia would blow a gasket with that many packs out there it would destroy their uniformity B.S. also most unit packing lists are B.S. they make you pack crap that you never use in the field. Ex 11B 77-87.
@@JC-af The medium is good, until its all the army issues you and you can't bring more than a few days worth of shit to the field. We didn't need something to bridge the gap between the assault pack and the large ruck, but the army pushed it out anyways.
Would rather have the original large ruck than the 4000.
my only grip using it is the straps, i loved the feel of the medium ruck, and the large molle 4000 is nice and spacious, but if it only had the mediums straps.
The right move was a Tactical Tailor Malice Pack or a Crossfire DG16
This thing looks terrible for any sort of long range patrol due to the lack of carrying a lot of stuff efficiently. The old MOLLE ruck had draw strings, lots of space, and large sustainment pouches. Look at the pouches here, they have zippers; if you're trying to stuff things, they won't cinch up.
If you're carrying 100+ lbs of gear, you need any advantage you can get.
There was probably a reason they didn't let us take these rucks to Ranger School and now I'm starting to understand why.
@Moore's Bootstrap I was talking about the school house. Go ahead and tell the Ranger Instructors that you shouldn't be carrying more than 1/3 your body weight; they'll laugh your way out of Darby. I bet this thing is awkward to carry any sort of heavy load with.
I agree carrying more than you should is harmful to your body but the Army isn't pretty and sometimes you have to do more than you have to because the mission says so. This pack doesn't fit the glove; it looks like an Assault pack with a frame.
ALICE design is beats MOLLE II Ruck in every way possible
They didn't let you use the molle 4000 at ranger school? Is it still that way? I ask because I just got to IBOLC and will got to ranger in 5-6 months.
Was just issued a new one, and I hate it. I don’t mind the size, though the Molle 2 Carrie’s more, but the shoulder strap design is terrible. I’ve seen earlier versions with better strap design, but my new one is junk. They’re mounted straight, as if my neck isn’t going to be in the way.
How about a “Modular Scalable Ruck”
Just give us a blank Ruck and we’ll put the MF’n pouches we need on it.
Large molle ftw, but integrated air items are nice
not going to lie, I chuckle at most of the US military gear, from boots to packs
I fielded a Molle 4000 in the 82nd years ago... it was trash, like all military packs
medium ruck is only good issued pack,
I got the non airborne version. At first I thought I was missing pieces but, I looked at my hand receipt and everything was there. The straps are low quality and does not even have the quick release on it. No sustainment pouches and I can't put my sleeping bag in the bottom. They expect you to put all the weight in the center. Only good thing is I can't feel anything while rucking so I guess that's good.
That’s a lie, it’s been around like 18-24 months
The first test units went out to the 82nd in 2018. I believe him.
Just received one. The shoulder straps are mounted straight down, as if I have no neck. It’s a terrible design. Even worse when you’re wearing a plate carrier 🥴
I just got issued the molle 4000, its worse than the medium ruck. With some modifications IE replacing that plastic junk with an LC1 and better straps it have more potential.
LC-2 mod
The best bergen ever invented is the British PLCE, big, comfortable, practical, bomb proof and it just works. It’s 40 years old and the majority of the British Army still use them by choice today. Despite numerous newer designs being available through the system.
The British Army needs you 😂
I was perfectly fine with my Alice pack. It served my needs, even to today.
Thanks for nothing. That Molle stuff has always been crap. More crap does not equal less weight, geniuses!
Yeah they just need to restart production of the frames and issue them out. So much has improved with padding and straps that an ALICE pack with some new bits perform much better than a MOLLE while being cheaper than high end rucks.
The army has overloaded the large ruck to carry more than the frame is designed to hold. They’ll overload the 4000 as well. It’s all great on paper, until you’re the one humpin it. Great example of another “highest bidder” failure.👎👎
sorry sir but the fixed pouches suck so bad
Awesome…I hate this guy.
Molle 4k is absolute garbage. This guy needs to be fired!!
Start with a camo pattern that actually works where the next war is going to be fought (Europe). Plus you wont look like the Russians since they commonly use the same pattern.,.
This thing sucks.
that thing fucking sucks
You guys have failed to make a nice ruck since the alice. Just get a malice or mystery ranch blackjack for gods sake. The molle 4000 sucks
What is the compress strap 8465-01-673-3521 used for?
Hello, Can you contact me about some business inquiries?
hahahah , crappy thing
