  • One of snooker's all-time greats Ray Reardon has sadly passed away at the age of 91 and today we bring you a very special edition of the WPBSA Snooker Podcast to reflect upon his incredible life in our sport.
Host Michael McMullan is joined by a bumper cast including Jimmy White and Neal Foulds - both of whom enjoyed competing with Reardon at the height of their own careers - as well as leading broadcasters David Hendon and Phil Yates to pay tribute.
Among a wide range of topics discussed are Reardon's life before snooker, his coaching relationship with Ronnie O'Sullivan, whether he could have himself become a snooker commentator and many more anecdotes.

A really sad day to hear of Rays death, I was fortunate to spend an evening in Ray's company in Swaffham snooker club, many many years ago, formerly owned by former Pro ref Colin Brinded,, Ray came down to support his local junior Wessex team against Norfolk Junior team, Ray was a thorough gent and has us in stitches through the evening, he even bought a round of drinks, Ray was a great player and a wonderful character, always with a smile on his face, RIP Ray, condolences to Ray's family and friends

A great man. This is a sad time. I knew Ray and his wife many years ago, as I used to have my tea and biscuits with him when I delivered his post.
A true gentleman, a Legend......Ray, it was an absolute pleasure to have known you. Sleep now my friend.

The reason for there being so many snooker players in Wales was due to the fact that every village in Wales was a mining village and all these villages had a miners institute all of which had a snooker hall.
