@@jamesmyersdrums These sets sound so amazing, it's hard to believe how well they are priced. I have two of this series. The other is in Black Mirror Chrome with 13,16,18 and 24B.D.
@@robertbryant9380These are right at a solid price point, they are still affordable but come packed with many of the better features. I understand some people might find that price point expensive for them, especially when you can get an export or many others at lower price points. But if you can afford it go for it! Also some might find it cheap compared to like a masterworks or something. But I mean they have the superhoops, 60 degree edge and the metal on the bass drum to protect the wood hoops, every piece of hardware is just better quality made in general. But I see why you might with the other having a 24bd, different sounds I'm sure!
@@jamesmyersdrums That 24x14 bass drum has quick response and a great feel. Sounds amazing also, and the black mirror chrome under stage lighting looks amazing!
@@robertbryant9380 Haha you make it sound tempting! That's a good point with the stage lighting, I never thought of that, the reflections are probably crazy!

Dud handle them with gloves on so you don't mess up the chrome. Then I'd recommend getting cover bags to put your drums in there not that expense, I've had my set of pearls for over 25 years and look like they just come off the floor.
Great advice! I'm used to packing everything in a van with multiple people helping bring the kit in and out of gigs, haha! But I don't do that with this kit, so that is great advice! 👍

@@ivanbajovic3476 Same here except vice versa, haha! I've played on a few Tama kits (and many other brands) but nothing from the high-end side. @@ivanbajovic3476 I've played everything only Pearl since 1986, including a master's series maple. My all time favorite snare is hands down the 14x6.5" brass Pearl free floating snare. @@markward3730 Will do! According to the app "Decibel X" placing the phone about 2ft outside of my house (next to the bedroom window). So with Pearl in terms of build quality in order the lineup is: roadshow - export - decade - sts - mcc The pdp concept maple sits in between the export - decade in terms or price / quality I would think, anyone correct me if I’m wrong.. You get what you pay for. The pdp cm is a great kit and you can get a good sound from it for sure. If you can get a deal on it, even better! The Export and Decade are probably the closest in terms of quality. I just didn’t like the tom mounting system on the pdp, that was my biggest issue. The toms bounced quite a bit when being struck. I also hit hard. This Pearl session stands up to that and doesn’t move the toms which is amazing to me. Especially when micing them. But some people don’t like Pearl hardware so I get it. Hope that helps! 🥁🥁
@@simpien yes the Tom mounts oof! My hardware came in a bag as well with the rest of the hardware like they were not worried about scratching it I guess. Seems like the mounts can break (because they sell replacements) mine never did luckily but I only played it about a year or so. I also got it over the decade maple because I found it for $800 out the door with tax for a 7 piece ebony lacquer wood grain finish. Where at the time the 5 piece decade was 1049 without tax. I was playing a 13 year old Pearl export kit, I needed something quick. So that made sense. I think the decade might be a bit better. But the session is much better haha! I was shocked at the difference. If you can afford it go for it!

Oh!!!! I understand that one!! Haha! For testing on this video, I used the stock heads right out of the box, I didn’t really even tune them much. I wanted to see how it would sound right out of the box. It comes with Remo UT drum heads on it. This kit you can put almost any drumhead on and it sounds great! Myself, Ive started replacing the stock Tom heads with pinstripes on top, ambassador clear on bottom. Bass drum is still using stock drum head as well. I do have an Aquarian super kick 2 ready to go for the batter side. But the stock heads don’t sound bad at all for stock heads and again just about any drumhead should sound decent on this kit.
I’m stuck between this and the pearl decade. I currently have a forum and gig quite regularly. Is it worth the extra £800 for the season select? Thanks man nice vid 👍
@Disturbed2241 Thank you!! 🙏 The Session Studio Select has upgraded hardware, noticeably all of the hardware is overall sturdier, heavier and better quality but specifically like 2.3mm Superhoop II Hoops, plastic washers on the lug screws, The optimount system which doesn't touch the actual shell of the drum it attaches to the lugs, the floor tom legs and mounts are overall a little sturdier feeling. These shells are 60 degree bearing edge - birch/mahogany (decade is 45 degree - maple). The toms are not mounted to the bass drum. Decade Maple is definitely a good kit! But it's 2 different price points. The decade is more intermediate with the intention of lasting throughout your playtime. The Session Studio is more professional level as it comes with the masters hardware and hybrid shells. If you don't mind spending the extra money, Session Studio is definitely next level and I think you'll really notice the difference and enjoy it! Hopefully that helps! 🥁
