Actually it’s crazy me and my dad went to one today and for the first time out of any Waffle House I been to, the people didn’t have no kinda hospitality whatsoever, I mean nobody said a word to us they just looked at us for a second then looked away, it blew my mind

I've been to Atlanta as a kid and I remember wanting to go to I dunno ONE of the 12 waffle houses down there. And someone said those places are nasty you don't wanna go there. ....I was sure it was better than church's chicken tho.

Grew up in Atlanta and we always went there after the clubs. Shit be jam packed around 3 or 4am. Everyone drunk af looking rough and them chefs with a cigarette in they mouth while cooking be fire af . Steve ain’t lying . You got 2 or 3 waitress constantly yelling out orders and somehow them chefs cook like 3 or 4 orders at same dam time and remembers the next batch in their head.
Always tipped them 30% cause I know that shit be stressful af for waitress dealing with drunk mf’s and chefs for being understaffed and cooking at warp speed.
Had a layover in Atlanta a couple years back. Went to one near the airport, when we went inside they locked the door behind us to keep the crazy homeless guy out. And the cook didn't show up, so the waitresses were doing the cooking :D was a great show for sure!

the cooks dont have to memorize anything, When the server calls out the order they are "marking" your plate with little pieces of the ingredients you ordered
i slung short-order for three years - believe me, juggling 3 or 4 orders at once is JACK SHITTE.
problem is, cooking short order literally gets in yer blood. 56, long-haul trucker, when i'm home on sundays and mondays i still work part-time doing breakfast rush in a 50 seat restaurant. Can't. Stop.

Best Waffle House meal I ever got was at the end of a long day of moving from one home to another. I came in exhausted and sat at the counter and was served by the cook, a big black man who had a name tag that said "T-Bone". I said to myself this is going to be the best damn Waffle House food I've ever ate. And of course it was!

Since there was nothing else on our drive, I took my visiting German friend to a Waffle House.
Waitress looked like she'd been on 20 hour shift. 500 pound cops with guns at the bar, spilling over their bar stools. Two guys with cowboy hats; one disturbed lady at the table next to us. When we left, he said "This was soo great!! THIS was the real America!"

I had a family visiting from Australia. They said they wanted a real American experience, they had enough of Time Square, Disney World and the rest tourist stuff. They forced me to take them to a Waffle House. I tried my best to dissuade them. I was like the food is not that great or anything special and the place is terrible, but they kept insisting. And they loved it. It's the experience of being there rather than food or the ambience. Waffle House is the working class America and the late night after nightclub America.
Scattered , smothered , covered ... all the way !! Thats how I start my day.

My first experience at a Waffle House was truly entertaining. It was just as Steve experience with one addition. When we were ready to order, the waitress said to us " I want you to know that I have ADHD and I am not on meds, so what you want?" After a moment of silence, we just ordered carefully and politely.

Speaking as a former grill op, he ain’t wrong. I didn’t think I was ever going to learn how to do that stuff. Some people must think it’s magic.
It's definitely a unique system. After working there for a few year's ot was hard getting used to cooking at other places
@@the-engneer The cook puts items on the empty plate to identify what has been ordered. Quite a system. One Waffle House a lady was complaining because the jellies and other things used as markers are not sanitary and the put them on the clean plate. They have no microwave, but they warm up apple pie on the grill covered by a pan cover and a ice cube.

Jelly in the Middle of the plate means over medium, left side is light, right side is well, and a if it's at the top it means sunny side up, bottom means scrambled , and if it's sideways its an omelet
Ketchup packet means steak etc.
It's the best cooking system of any place I've ever worked and incredibly fast
Also I used to constantly make jokes about "When do we get a microwave?!"
My name tag said "Bacon Dave", because I cooked over 60 pounds of bacon in one day, and once cooked am 800 dollar to-go order. I'm not bragging, but I will say the best cooks I've ever met were at waffle house

Squeeze bottle of water beside the grille, splash some on and cover immediately. in three yrs never once had anyone bitch about my poached eggs and that's bizarre cuz the people who order poached eggs are usually really picky pains in the ass. the crazy hacks short order people do... 😁
The only time I've ever seen an actual real-life pimp was in a Waffle House in Bossier City, Louisiana. And the lady behind the bar greeted him and his girls like that! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
LMAO, it's quite common to see the whores sitting side by side with the cops late at night at a Waffle House. I've also seen many a stripper group come in late at night with a bouncer.
As a Waffle House employee I can confirm that every thing he says is true. The cooks we have secretly run the store and can make higher decisions regarding the kitchen staff than most managers. Trust me if a cook says he wants a certain person gone cus they’re slowing him down or not working with him, that manager on duty will have your ass gone before the cook can even finish the complete sentence. Managers stay so busy doing other stuff keeping up with customers and business stuff that cooks is literally second in command. Waitresses are just the guinnea pigs
By "gone" you mean transferred to the store at the next exit. You literally have to stab a customer in the face to get fired from WH.

and ive NEVER had the food be bad, maybe cold once or twice when i ordered and picked it up but if i was actually dining in its always been perfect, unlike IHOP.

I have nothing against diners - or their food; I've eaten at my share of them - and you can find them in the darndest places. Two of my favorites are in Atlantic City (off the Boardwalk - no less) and in Las Vegas (NewYorkNewYork Hotel and Casino - America - specifically, the new Breakfast Bar). My two all time favorite diners are places I have been going to for decades - since I was ten. (I am 61 now.) In additon to Waffle House, there are other chain or semi-chain diners - Perkins 'Cake and Steak - Pennsylvania and New Jersey - is smaller than Waffle House, but like it, competes with IHOP - or Denny's, for that matter.
People need to give this man his credit too many haters this man is a king of comedy!

My usual order is unusual, I order an All Star, add an extra waffle and tell them to put everything between both waffles. The Midwest waffle houses understand straight away but in the south the entire staff and other customers need to have a board meeting before they start making it. Shit is amusing sometimes; when im not starving!

Love waffle house! I get the all star, with a pecan/chocolate chip waffle(for later), eggs over medium, grits(to mix eggs in), bacon, raisin toast, and apple butter, with coffee..I have lunch or dinner for later, it's a big meal! Their chicken breasts are amazing, get one for dinner😁♥️

I worked at a summer camp out in the sticks and every year a few or four of us would drive an hour away on Fridays (campers left Saturday morning) to a ratchety WH off a state highway. It was our little weekend ritual for some years, sneaking back on camp late after midnight. Good memories

After cooking at Waffle House every other cooking job has been extremely easy
Lived in Atlanta for almost 20 years and Waffle House is an absolute institution in the city. And everybody has their favorite location. Many is the time we have passed a Waffle House to go to another Waffle House because we wanted to go to the good one. It's best if you only have one other person at the table though because if when you get a table of four it's fairly common for a mistake or two in the order to creep in, especially if around 2AM and the place is super busy. I love it and one of the hardest parts about not living in Georgia anymore is not having a Waffle House within 5 minutes of the place I live.
I'm from Newcastle England...I lived in Nashville for years and I swear Waffle House is the best place to eat anywhere on this planet. The staff are just the best..please .. whatever you spend on your meal make sure that's what you tip at the very very least. I even have a Waffle House menu up in my Chinese takeaway just to let my customers know how fantastic that place is.
I work at Five Guys and we have a similar call out system. We call out the patty #s and sometimes the customer will be like "Wait I didn't order 8 burgers." 🤣

Real Waffle House diners as a kid in the mid 1970s. Door knob completely missing on men's room door. Just an open hole. No lock on toilet stall door. Or just completely missing. As a nine year old kid this was horrifying. But as a nine year old boy you gotta poop at every restaurant. My Mom & Dad always stopped at one on the way to Atlanta. The best hamburgers and breakfast. We loved them.
Waffle House is pure America. The good the bad and the ugly. It’s beautiful.

Thank God for Waffle House. When I worked in the shipyard, I was assigned to the TCC group and I would bring in breakfast for us. This was one of the very few places opened at 3 a.m. Unless there was a storm bad enough that they closed.

I laughed so hard at the truth. Me and my dad's breakfast spot is the waffle house ever since I was little and I love how people from the north say it's not classy. It's not for you because it's that southern diner charm and good food that makes it what it is.

That’s something I can say about Waffle House. I have never gotten a wrong order. I’ve been to IHOP and waited 45 minutes just to get a drink and for the waitress to take my order and waited another hour for the food to come out. I’ve been to Denny’s and they are out of half the menu, the cook is listening to scream-o music, it takes 30 mins for the meal to come out and they forget half the food. But Waffle House gets it done and done right!

I work security(armed) at a Orlando FL metro WH 🍳☕️🍽. It's a complete 🤡🤡🤡 show at times. In 22+ years, I never ate there & never plan to. I use hand sanitizer often.
