I drive a Frontier Desert Runner with the stock VQ40 and a nice little muffler on it, no trumpet sounds, mine has more of a stock 1990’s 4.3 chevy non-turbo sound. edit: ik it sounds kinda weird, but the truck sounds good and performs good too!
I feel that those carrier bearings are super week on my last frontier which just had a 2 inch lift on it would eat a carrier bearing every year I owned the truck with just some mild off-roading. For a race truck it just seems out of place to have a stock carrier bearing
It wasn’t stock. It was a heavy duty truck bearing. However someone pushed the truck completely out of its limits and caused the bearing to break. They even managed to crack the windshield!! My father was not happy and now we have some work to be done on it back home. That’s good old desert racing for ya.

I like the way it sounds, it's so difficult to get a good sounds from a VQ 6 cylinder

Well. This truck is a rally truck and is not a usually abused this hard. It’s not my truck. He Found a weak link and is fixing.
