Yeah, I didn't see what was so apparently menacing about Kate when she first appeared in the costume. Honestly, it kinda looked like it was supposed to fit a man, but it just shrunk. But, then again, I'd understand if it was a rush job, the security wasn't too keen on tailoring, or if the look was intentional so it can be improved on later in the series.

This series's trailers left me with no interest in it from the beginning. They were just Kate Kane whining about being mistaken for Batman despite being dressed like him, saying she didn't want a man taking credit for a woman's work while being a woman taking credit for a man's work, saying the Batsuit would only be perfect when it fit a woman. And to top off the "Did you know she's a woman" message they had a song with the lyrics "I'm a woman" in it. Even though we can see that and it's obvious. She also breaks into Wayne Manor and steals Bruce's suit and gadgets from the Batcave. In the second trailer she gives Bruce's watch that she stole to a homeless person who didn't even look homeless.
The interesting thing is there was never any situation where she would have felt bad for being mistaken for Batman and people found out she's a woman only in episode 2, I think. So this is only an interpretation based on the trailer, not a fact for the show itself.

In the same episode where she continues to let her homicidal sister Alice got. She also, spends the time she could be saving her family making changes to her suit so that she wouldn’t even mistaken for Batman. I don’t think that in such a small time frame, that make up and changing the suit (the one people mistook her for Batman for) so that it won’t be mistaken for Batman was necessary. Clearly it was more important than saving lives.

Yeah I watched a few episodes of this show and it just felt like “Supergirl” but at night. Someone even commented “Will Batwoman defeat the patriarchy? Tune in next week, same bat time, same bat channel.” and to me this show just felt kind of boring and badly written. I just notice a lack of inconsistency with the writing of the shows and it bothers me. Feels like an excuse not to try as hard or not to have better writers for certain shows since they care more about views then telling a good story.
Don't even. Supergirl deserves better. While it does bring up important issues like transphobia and racism, and also feminism, it doesn't do it in such a backwards way. Especially since Kara makes her own teams, her own costumes. She does her own thing. All while being respectful to Superman.

I think the script and costume design matters a lot in framing emotions. She is improving tho. I personally liked her performance in XXX: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick and Pitch Perfect. Youve probably had a punky cool lesbian image of her which is hard to replace when she plays different characters.

Exactly! That is the problem with a lot of shows that push feminism. They have a protagonist who says that she is better than a man but they never show why or give a valid reason as to why.
The difference between a good female character and a bad one to me is that a good one is a good character who happens to be a woman whereas badly written ones are portrayed as good characters just because they're women. The same with good and bad male characters.

Yeah, I didn't see what was so apparently menacing about Kate when she first appeared in the costume. Honestly, it kinda looked like it was supposed to fit a man, but it just shrunk. But, then again, I'd understand if it was a rush job, the security wasn't too keen on tailoring, or if the look was intentional so it can be improved on later in the series.

Even though it's obvious that she's a woman the show's trailers and probably the show itself bash you over the head with the fact with enough force to crack your head open. A show that constantly feels like it has to mention the main character's gender every 2 seconds is probably not going to be good. I'm guessing it's because the showrunners want to call any criticism or dislike it gets sexism rather than admit they made a bad show.

not only is the main character genuinely incompetent in the pilot alone, but i never understood shows that want to promote girl-power but do so in making a world where men are dominant
there were more male superheroes in the mcu, but there were alot of females who didnt advocate any in-your-face messages and were well written - because the writers wanted to write a story rather than capitalise on a trend. not to mention by not even mentioning the presence of gender you’re effectively showing how little it matters, rather than blatantly complaining about it
Watch The Boys, a side character who becomes a second protagonist ( towards the end ) in it does female empowerment way better than the protagonist of this show

And to top off the "Did you know she's a woman" message they had a song with the lyrics "I'm a woman" in it. Even though we can see that and it's obvious. She also breaks into Wayne Manor and steals Bruce's suit and gadgets from the Batcave. In the second trailer she gives Bruce's watch that she stole to a homeless person who didn't even look homeless.
It's a CW show. Their idea of what feminism entails is on par with Catwoman's (the 2004 film). So yeah, no big surprise there 😐

The interesting thing is there was never any situation where she would have felt bad for being mistaken for Batman and people found out she's a woman only in episode 2, I think. So this is only an interpretation based on the trailer, not a fact for the show itself.
FaithLehane She literally I believe in episode 3, in her woke show says she she’s not Batman and then says she’s better than him. In the same episode where she continues to let her homicidal sister Alice got. She also, spends the time she could be saving her family making changes to her suit so that she wouldn’t even mistaken for Batman. I don’t think that in such a small time frame, that make up and changing the suit (the one people mistook her for Batman for) so that it won’t be mistaken for Batman was necessary. Clearly it was more important than saving lives.
@@shayla106 What she said was that she can't fill his place but at that moment she's better than him because she's there, as in she's present and he's not. She literary every episode writes to him and tells other people that she can't fill his shoes. The meaning wasn't that she's doing a better job than him at all. Because of her poor self-esteem she needed to motivate herself to do things. So what she said was basically "I can't be him but I'm here so I better do something about this situation because he can't". In regards to the rest, you realise this is a CW show, right? They might as well rename the channel "garbage for teens who want to kill some brain cells".

I have seen two episodes, barely got through the second one.
Yeah I watched a few episodes of this show and it just felt like “Supergirl” but at night. Someone even commented “Will Batwoman defeat the patriarchy? Tune in next week, same bat time, same bat channel.” and to me this show just felt kind of boring and badly written. I just notice a lack of inconsistency with the writing of the shows and it bothers me. Feels like an excuse not to try as hard or not to have better writers for certain shows since they care more about views then telling a good story.
In all honesty i feel like this show is just a "darker" Supergirl and also worse as well
Don't even. Supergirl deserves better. While it does bring up important issues like transphobia and racism, and also feminism, it doesn't do it in such a backwards way. Especially since Kara makes her own teams, her own costumes. She does her own thing. All while being respectful to Superman.
Supergirl has likable characters though.

the problem with these sorta shows lies in the oversaturation of these messages where it sounds ingenuine and almost force feeds to you something you’ve heard many times
i would love if these shows just took a note from other modern shows and just equalised gender or races without advocating any messages; its sort of self-defeating to promote feminism but make a world where men are the enemies

TF2Fan101 As someone who’s seen her movies and this show, I can say that this isnt her best performance. I cant say that it isnt good, because some scenes are well put. I think the script and costume design matters a lot in framing emotions. She is improving tho. I personally liked her performance in XXX: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick and Pitch Perfect. Youve probably had a punky cool lesbian image of her which is hard to replace when she plays different characters.
RR acting was uneventful. Even in supporting roles, she can’t make it work.
