The word for guest in Sanskrit is 'Athithi'. 'Thithi' means time, 'Athithi' means one who is welcome in your house at any time of the day. So in India, a guest has the right to knock on your door at any time of the day. When the guest arrives, you offer them water to wash their feet. Then you feed the guests. The reason for feeding the guest first is to make sure that they have enough to eat. You just don't share what you have with the guests, you make sure that they eat first and are well fed. Once you feed them, you offer them a place to take a nap. When I was a kid, I remember my grandmother used to have her lunch late in the afternoon. This was to make sure that there is food for any unexpected guest around lunch time. Thank you for the wonderful video
@@0arjun077 'Thithi' is a unit of time as per the Hindu calendar. One Thithi equals the time the moon takes to move 12 degrees away from the sun. There are 30 Thithis in a lunar month. So you are right, Thithi is exactly translated to time. Kala and Samaya are different words for time in Sanskrit.
We don't who adhithi is , we Tamils don't care about Sanskrit. We believe " yaadhum oore, yaavarum kelir " i am a world citizen & all humans are my kith & kin. Reinstated by our Abdul kalam in UN
It's incredibly the people your meeting on your travels true honest hospitality, its so wonderful to see not everywhere in this world is dictated by money. If I were you I would move there permanently!! Looking forward to next vlog your India series is the best you done so far.

Welcome come to my village with ur friends or family in Tamil Nadu India
@vikramdixitkannaiah1939 wish I could!
This is not even 2% of what you have seen. This channel however shows genuine content and real India, unlike other visitors who just roam around Delhi and Mumbai and complain about being dirty, poverty e t.c... India is a subcontinent in itself. India is beyond Delhi and mumbai. Especially the south, north eastern states are underrated. India is and will be known for diverse culture, food and traditions.
So glad you both decided to go around the mountain, and what a wonderful village, the people are lovely.

We, people of Tamilnadu, India appreciate you & your partner for putting up with our food.
It will be extremely difficult to Westerners to cope with rice based food
However, you can enjoy the Tropical climate , Coconut & plantain trees & well behaved people in South India.
We love the food honestly
Your smiles are much bigger and you look happier than ive ever seen. It must be a joyful place.
This the basic culture and practice in " Tamilnadu " and South india. Banana leaf culture only in South india..

What a beautiful warm welcoming family, the world could do with a bit more of that.
Very good experience, and thanks for sharing...shows how welcoming India is, while in news they only shows the opposite. Keep sharing your lovely experience lovely and genuine family you both are.
Well in the news they only cover Mumbai and Delhi which doesn't even cover 1% of India.
India Cities are bad especially Delhi and Mumbai your media is right about that but India is more than few cities with over a Billion Population.
What a lovely family. The street food looks amazing. Thank you for another great week. Stay safe ❤️

For you. I am from South India. Good

This is real Indian hospitality, you won’t see in any other country. I love these “ foreigners” traveling in a rickshaw. They are amazing
❤️❤️❤️
It's just Tamil hospitality lol.
Isn't Kala the Time? Thithi somehow related to Truthi ? One of the smallest unit of time in Hindu units of time.
Thank you for this great insight into Indian culture. What an amazing country. What wonderful people.
@@abhilashveettil6206 okay thank you for the clarification. 👍🏽
We don't who adhithi is , we Tamils don't care about Sanskrit. We believe " yaadhum oore, yaavarum kelir " i am a world citizen & all humans are my kith & kin. Reinstated by our Abdul kalam in UN
Thise tamilnadu culture..I'm from Tamilnadu I'm watching all videos and thank-you exploring Tamilnadu lifestyle...
Our pleasure
It's this friendliness that cost us 200 years of growth.
Wow the home cooked food looks amazingly Yummy...❤
Absolutely lovely hospitality and friendliness, wow what a great time your having xx
What a lovely family & delightful children 🙂
It's incredibly the people your meeting on your travels true honest hospitality, its so wonderful to see not everywhere in this world is dictated by money. If I were you I would move there permanently!! Looking forward to next vlog your India series is the best you done so far.
Those ammas were So cute . I cannot wait to visit India
Really wish we had such an hospitable culture! What a fantastic experience
Moosky she is not talkng about immigration hiring for jobs as there is shortage in uk. She is talking abt general people and culture.
@@moosky7344 TBH india is a paradise and of course has its demerits. Since the British left we made a lot of progress. Untouchability is not practiced anymore in urban area only in rural parts of area they are present.... Female foenticide reduced so much in recent years. We have made a lot of progress
@@moosky7344 I’m talking about the culture over there. Not referring to immigration here!!
Thank you 🙏🏻
@@moosky7344 sorry but you seem to be unable to read meaning correctly and are choosing to put your own slant on what I am saying which is wildly off at a strange tangent. You’re reading my comments completely incorrectly. I won’t explain further as you’ll likely misunderstand/misrepresent that too. Have a nice day.
Love you both of you to show the real image of India
Again so grateful to be taken on your adventures with you. Your videos are SO good! ❤
It's all been said already; a superb (I think my favourite) video especially the section with all those happy smiling children. Gosh, we have so much to learn from their outlook on life. Thank you Liam and Janine for sharing your experience and giving us such a personal insight into real India.
Well Pete + 2..the family treated you like royalty 🙂they couldn't do enough for you both & here we are yet again seeing how human beings behave in India towards their 'guests' ...now I'm thinking this is like going back in time to how people used to be towards one another here in the UK..but something tells me that this isn't the sort of thing that we are familiar with anymore 🤔 lovely to see the family being so marvellous 😊 another excellent vlog..stay safe and well & Liam keep concentration on them roads 👍
