    This is definitely peaking my interest. I love how close it is to the quad. Would be a good test to try a different ball and copy the marks to see if it still reads. It would make it even better if I can use my own ball and mark it. Spin can vary ball to ball. Other than that it looks great.

    • @Dazzman07
      @Dazzman07 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the one Rick. I'm getting concerned by the silence from Golf City and others on TH-cam regarding this device. Hope it's unfounded worry cause I love the look of it and the 'claimed' measures and accuracy by Rapsodo - despite the subscription concerns many people have. I'm kinda glad I decided to hold off ordering one until the hype settled down and the true reviews on actual performance across all parameters are released. Cmon Golf City - give us an update on why the delay of your promised review please 🙏

    • @rickjablonski9669
      @rickjablonski9669 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dazzman07 yep. My hangup was the subscription. Hiding ball data behind a paywall is a little slimy. Makes me think they don't have a lot of confidence in their simulation and other virtual features. So they include spin data as a premium feature to basically force owners to go with the subscription. Ironic thing is, I very likely would have pre-ordered if spin weren't locked behind a paywall. Was just the principle of it.
      But now with the radio silence, I'm even happier to have held off. Likely best to let the growing pains pass before diving in.

    I want to invest in a launch monitor that is less than $1,000 CAD and the two best one seems to be the Garmin R10 and the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro. Is the data accuracy/reliability of the MLM 2 better than the Garrmin because of camera/doppler radar? I will be using the unit mostly on the range outside and in a bakyard net. Thanks, Luc

    I'm curious to see how it compares to the garmin R10 at $599. I like the redesign and I like the rapsodo initially. I know you mentioned the special marked balls - do those come with the monitor or extra cost? You can get special marked balls that work with the garmin to improve it's accuracy as well - for extra cost. So maybe the extra $100 is worth it because they are just already including these extras. Wonder if they'll eventually offer a "slim" package of just the monitor without the extras. Bonus too you're getting a $200 subscription free for the first year i guess.

      R10 only has estimated spin so this is way better.

    • @JJ_Golf
      @JJ_Golf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steven-Primrose-Hazel The rapsodo also uses estimated spin when not using their specific golf balls. I'm not trying to bash on the product just trying to get more details out of it. When rapsodo uses their golf balls they designed with the black markings, it makes the spin a lot more accurate. Titlist has a RCT (Radar Capture Technology) golf ball you can buy to improve the accuracy of radar launch monitors indoors, which is the R10, trackman, flightscope, etc. Buying those titlist golf balls with the R10 is the same as rapsodo with these they designed themselves. I used the original MLM from rapsodo and liked some features and didnt like others. A friend has the R10 with the titlist balls and seems to be working well. Trying to dig for more info from these creators to see if it's worth getting the rapsodo.

    • @Jord_45
      @Jord_45 ปีที่แล้ว

      The r10 doesn’t measure spin, so it wouldn’t matter what ball you use. It calculates spin based on other metrics.

    • @JJ_Golf
      @JJ_Golf ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Jord_45 Yes it does.. With software 3.80 and newer it calculates spin using a model that uses measured radar metrics as inputs (when indoors). Outdoors it calculates by measured ball trajectory by radar. The titlist website sells the titlist RCT (radar capture technology) golf ball which has an embedded radar reflective tech to make these launch monitors more accurate.. including spin rate because it uses radar to calculate those measurements. Titlist has even validated their RCT golf balls for indoor environments with the garmin R10..

    The backspin compared to GCquad is awesome! But even the Garmin R10 is very close on backspin using the RCT balls.
    The real game changer will be if sidespin on the MLM2 is close to the GC. If so, it would be a huge step up in simulated shot shape at this entry level price point…. Look forward to seeing those comparison videos!

    • @williamhumber5890
      @williamhumber5890 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can compare spin axis in the shots where they show the GCQuad screen by taking the sideSpin and backSpin values and converting them to spinAxis via spinAxis = 180°/π*atan(sideSpin/backSpin). Aside from one wedge shot all the shots where they displayed the GCQuad screen were extremely close. I was very impressed as I've seen a few tests like this from other launch monitors where they focus on either pure spin or carry distance, but the spin axis values where wildly different. MLM2 seems like a big step forward in this price bracket.

    Also, will those “beta” features be updated in March or should we wait until March to purchase?

  • @rickjablonski9669
    @rickjablonski9669 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah. This thing looks super promising.
    I rolled the dice on Swinglogic’s Hybrid X3. Long story short, it’s a great unit. But with one HUGE caveat. Currently the nano sensor does not give reliable readings (i.e. it misses shots all the time). When you do get data, it’s great. But that’s maybe only 2 out of 10 shots currently.
    Good news is Swinglogic has accepted this flaw and will be dropping an upgraded nano around March. And sounds like they’ll do an exchange for a small fee.
    So, while I’m cautiously optimistic the X3 will prove to be worth it. I have been looking at alternatives. Was contemplating a Gc3/BLP. But this Rapsodo just jumped to the top of my list.

    • @rickjablonski9669
      @rickjablonski9669 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@krusher74 Agreed. Ball speed and club speed are right on par with the best of them. But it's hard to get the radar component wrong.
      As for the nano sensor component. Long story short, they went to market with a "lesser" chip set (due to shortages). Supply has now come around and the originally intended chip set will be built into an upgraded nano.
      In the interim they've tried to do their best via firmware. But, for me, the readings actually got less reliable. Original firmware I was getting, at worst, 9/10 readings.
      Definitely a bummer. But nice that us early adopters aren't SOL. And will benefit just as much as those buying new once the improved nano drops in the next month or so. They've been great on the service side, have been super transparent, and are eager to make it right.
      I'm cautiously optimistic. If the new nano delivers on the reading front, it'll be an outstanding value. Because when it does read, the data is pretty impressive.
