    Looking for a thermowell or glycol coil for your FermZilla, Fermentasaurus, or KegMenter. This will do the job and enable you to accurately monitor and control temperature of most fermenters and bright beer tanks.

    Very nice Kee! Glad to see the cooler is not proprietary and can be used in a multitude of vessels. How about a jacket for the fermzilla? Are there plans for one? Or is the “raincoat” style cover all you will recommend? Thanks for continuing to come up with great new products! Cheers! (And Bob’s your uncle!! Lol) 👍🍻

      Hey Brian - Yes the jackets can be seen here:

      The 55L jacket is just a bit delayed and should be here in about 6 weeks then released in America in not too much longer.

    Everything looks perfect but I have some doubts before drilling the top cover.
    What type of joints, connections and connectors are needed to maintain isobaric capacity and how much pressure does it allow?
    Are high-strength teflon joints recommended? TY

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Not at all. The unit will still hold pressure. The duotight fittings can withstand more than 150psi. So it really comes down to the pressure holding capacity of the fermenter itself. The fittings seal up really easily.

Do I need to leave the parts disassembled and exposed to air to passivate the holes or is it ok to just wash the WD40, sanitize with star San and assemble? This is a very helpful video. After watching it, I successfully installed your thermowell onto the plastic lid of my fermenter (which was made by a different manufacturer). I didn't have that fancy drill bit so I used a 1/2-inch spade bit.
    I have to say that I'm stunned that you drilled into the lid while holding it in your hand. That's insane. So is drilling into solid metal without wearing safety glasses. You must not have lawyers in Australia.

    Any plans on getting both of these products to Canada (orders from distributors)? I love the FermZilla line, recently got the 55L version and it's such an innovative product. I would get a couple of all rounders for longer conditioning and a 27L version, but I can't find these accessories to connect the fermenters to my glycol chiller. Only option is to order either from the US or China, which makes for really expensive parts with shipping and duty taxes. Thanks!

    I'm having trouble getting this Thermowell accessory to seal tightly. Looking at your video at the 1:45 you can see the indents that your drill bit is pointing to. I had to remove those indents just to get the screw to touch the fitting let alone tighten it down. The screw (at least the one I received) was too large to fit down in either one of those smaller recesses.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The temp twister coil will come into the lid at a 20degree angle. No need to bend it as it will fit fine. You only need to bend the coil if you dont like the idea of it sitting straight up and down.

    Have you thought about installing the temp twister inside the lid of a corny keg? I ferment my meads in corny kegs and think

    • @KegLand

      We do not really recommend fermenting inside a corny keg as the corny kegs are not really designed for this application. It's best to choose a purpose built fermenter.

    Hi Kee, I've tried installing the temptwister a few times now and it keeps leaking from the duotight connection to the coil. The duotight doesn't seem to be making a proper seal. It is not leaking from the nut.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    an O ring on the outer mating surface of a through bulkhead fitting is not the best way to seal this. Maybe you might consider a two neoprene washers. one top and one underneath as I have done. the one under isnt really doing anything as the threads on the bottom nut allow for leakage. you can teflon tape the threads, but this is a poor solution as sealing on the flat exterior mating surfaces is the only reliable way of doing it. the one washer on the outside is the main improvement as that little oring looks a bit too small imo too, the nice flat washer would give me much more peace of mind. appreciate the idea

      As the probe is completely surrounded by the liquid with only a small air gap not much is to be gained by filling the thermowell with liquid. The probe will be slightly less responsive but temperature changes in something like a fermenter are generally very gradual and slow anyway. For this reason it's best just to leave the well dry.
