I met her at the local pharmacy, in about 2013, where she was one of the pharmacists. She introduced herself as Jean Barker, pronouncing Jean like blue jeans. She was a very beautiful woman in her late 50s. Quite stunning, actually. The subject of TV and commercials came up and I mentioned that I sometimes worked as an extra, so we chatted about the business for close to an hour. I'd never watched Ark or Atlantis, so I had no idea who she was until she told me about these shows and some of her experiences. Her credits were certainly more impressive than mine.
Jean Marie Hon is still as beautiful today as she was when she did Ark 2 I'm glad that she's alive and well and may God bless her for all the adventures she gave us on Saturday mornings
I had totally forgotten about this show until my buddy and I was talking about the old science fiction shows two weeks ago. Battlestar Galactica is one of my favorite and we were talking about it. Then he brought up Arc 2....It took a while .. I vaguely recalled. Then he said the show with the monkey and that RV called Ark 2...LOL RV. He'll be surprise. I just forward this link to him. Yes. She was hot and still is judging by the two pictures posted in this video.
Yep, I too had a CRUSH on Ms. Hon, I turned 10 yrs old in Nov. of 1976. She was the kind of young women a boy with a Farrah Fawcett poster, had 1 of those also, could REALLY appreciate. Her career choice to move on to a more stable and respectable profession is a testament to her good character. Thanks for the info.
This was my childhood!!!! CBS and NBC took a big risk in the mid-late '70's with these live action Krofft and Filmation series. You mentioned two of my favorites from that time: "Space Academy" and "Jason Of Star Command." When I found those two series on DVD about 10 years ago, my inner seven year old was sooo happy!!! It's sad that Saturday mornings are not what they used to be. You just earned a subscriber, sir!!!! Keep up the good work!!!! :-)
I really liked ARK II back in the day and I was disappointed in how CBS handled seasons 2 thru 4! This was such a great show and it should have been expanded! And yes I was in love with Jean Marie Hon, I think all of us young boys were!!! I'm glad she's doing well.
So cool! Thanks for letting me know, Danika. I am a big fan of your aunt's TV work during the late 70s and it was fun to learn that she has done so well since leaving the entertainment industry.
Dave, I found some interesting trivia regarding Ms. Hon on the internet. She married Tim Barker in 1981 and he is the son of the famous actress Susan Hayward. She and her husband raised a son and daughter and were avid fly fishers. Keep up the good work. Nice channel.
I loved this show as a kid, and I recently was able to buy the Ark II series from Amazon. There's a lookback show on this DVD set from the DVD release with an interview with her.
According to IMDB of the two other stars of Ark II, Terry Lester had an active career including a lengthy run in the daytime soaps The Young and the Restless and Santa Barbara and even an episode of Star Trek Voyager, his last credit was an episode of Walker Texas Ranger in 1999, sadly he developed heart disease and died of a heart attack in 2003 at the age of 53. Jose Flores worked small parts on a number of shows up until 86 then disappeared until 2011 where he had a roll in a Mexican movie La hija del capo mayor, but nothing since
I was 8 or 9 when i started watching ark 2.In 1976 it was my go to show and i loved it. And it does take me back to the 1970's.It does seem like people were more intellegent back then.
Thanks for another fun video. I enjoyed Ark 2 and was always disappointing that there were so few episodes. You are right on the money with the Roddenberry Earth 2 comparison.
*Ark II* was a favorite on mine as well. But I am fairly certain that I didn't take it all in when I watched it as a kid. I loved the vehicle, to be sure. And as a fan of *Space 1999* I was drawn to the similar uniforms as well. Later, as an adult in the 90's while visiting a friend in Los Angeles, he showed me where the *Ark II* was stored ─ behind a fence with some mundane vehicles on a corner lot. Btw, I have a little pewter _Robbie the Robot_ hanging from the rear view mirror in my Honda Element. He was originally a keychain. But, in my opinion, he's way too heavy to be a keychain. Great video as always Dave! Short, yet thorough.
Jonathan Harris (Dr. Smith from "Lost in Space") did an episode of "Ark II" before landing a recurring role in Filmation's "Space Academy." Harris played a Fagan-like character who led a group of kids in the "Ark II" episode. In true Harris form, he totally camped up the character.
Believe it or not... Mr. Harris actually did a 2nd episode as well! (Think the premise involved him making himself chief of a gang of marauding brigands with the use of some poison gas he had scrounged!)

Always give your work a thumbs up !!! Such an informative, well produced and for lack of a better word FUN channel lol. I do remember this show , was and still am a fan of the old style live action shows from back then . I have a feeling, one these times , all your hard work is going to pay off , with an interview or meeting with some of these former stars , and I can not wait , thank you so much for your hard work 👊😎
I remembered this show but couldn't remember what it was called. I thought I remembered the vehicle being called the Ark and all the characters having biblical names though. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I loved loved loved this show & just was talking about it the other day to a friend who's much younger & missed out all on of the great Saturday morninngs shows that a lot of us grew up on, how I miss those times!! 💜
Well, she was one of the reasons my ten year old self loved watching it. I think it is a good thing you kept her life private and didn't post more than the "How she looks now" pics.
Yes, I did like ARK II as a 10-year-old in 1976. When the 2020 Covid pandemic happened, and I found myself home more, I re-discovered this program. Jean Marie was a fresh face and hottie that gave the show life. But the main fascination was with a show that takes you to a future America that has very different challenges and opportunities than the one I live in. I wouldn't mind going to the year 2476 at all and trying it out. On Ark II.
She was my first crush and that’s why I fall in love with beautiful Asian women because they age beautifully. Look at the two photos of her towards the end
Ark II !! Now wer're cooking! Loved this show. It was a wild concept for me as a wee lad that the Earth was somehow going to be destroyed and enter an apocalyptic dark age. Could it really happen? Was it going to happen soon? When it happened, I wanted to be one of the survivors who got to roam around in an RV and not one of the dreggs who had to eat garbage to stay alive. Man, that whole concept freaked me out. That jet pack was really cool. Jean Marie was so pretty. I didn't know it was her on Man From Atlantis and I watched that show religiously too. I also watched the other shows you mentioned like Jason of Star Command (starred James Doohan from Star Trek fame!), and Shazam. Thanks for posting!
My favorite was Shazam. But...I did love this show as well as Isis and Jason of Star Command. Never really caught much of Space Academy but I know that show has its fans as well.
Dave Sundstrom My favourites were Shazam and Land of the Lost. I just finished watching an episode of Ark II on youtube: Episode 2, The Rule. In this episode, Jean Marie crashes into a tree with the buggy. Haven't seen this since it first aired. Brings back so many memories. I think I'll check out episode 3 before I have to go make dinner....reality always getting in the way of nostalgia. HahA! Thanks!
I loved Ark II mainly for Ruth, the jet pack and Adam in that order. You should do a show on Pamalyn Ferdin. She was every where in the 70's and I had such a crush on her.
Dave Sundstrom Pamelyn Ferdin is now a Nurse, and does Not like to review her Acting past. She is a Strong Animal Activist. She has done a Great Number of Shows, and Distinctive Voice-overs. I wrote to her once, and the Reply was Slow, and Not too Friendly.
She probably had a completely miserable time, forced into it by her parents, or forced to stay in once she got established. So many child actors got screwed at every turn. If her work was before a certain time, she got little or no residuals. Good for her finding a more enduring and rewarding career path. But rudeness is a choice, and a poor one at that. I'm sure no one of my age group (mid-60s) or a few years younger would even recognize her now. In the late '70s and early '80s, I saw Lavar Burton "backstage" several times before and after he was going to be seen by the public. I complimented him for always being so upbeat and approachable. He said that it was his obligation to be polite, and if he was feeling grumpy, he stayed home. Actually, those are words for all of us to live by. Cheers.
@@greggv8: Thanks for the link. I watched a good bit of it. She's a bit younger, but basically my contemporary (I grew up in Pacific Palisades with Barry (Blenkhorn) Williams), but I never once had any urge to have an urge for her. Looking at her now, I'm still not drawn to her. But it was amusing to watch. Mahalo.
I'm 51 yrs old now. I remember these show so well... Ark 2 Land Of The Lost Sha-Zam Isis Space Academy Jason Of Star Command Electra-Woman & Dyna-Girl Wild Boy & BigFoot The Red Hand Gang Monster Squad The Ghost Busters Big Blue Marble The Razzle-Dazzle Show Great Great memories & reminiscing tears of my childhood in the 70s!!!
Was I a fan of Jean Marie Hon? I had forgotten Ark II. In fact, you seem to find the most obscure shows that I hadn't thought about in decades. That said, of course, I like JMH! What adolescent boy wouldn't? In fact, I watched many shows specifically to see these actresses. She is no exception as a very attractive girl. The photos of her later in life show that she's aged very well and still looks great. I truly appreciate you digging up all this nostalgia Dave. It's really brought a smile to my face and takes me back, triggering associated memories I thought were long forgotten.
Awesome show! Had to buy the dvd set when it first came out. Jean was, and still is very beautiful. Definitely a favorite character of mine in Ark ll.👍👍👍👍👍
I have the DVD set, quite cheap when I purchased it many years ago. They must be pretty rare now judging by the Amazon price. Also on TH-cam there is a documentary on the show featuring Jean Marie Hon runs about 30 minutes. Worth a look!
Ok, finally someone else that remembers this show. I was a big fan of Saturday morrning live actions: Land of Lost, Space 1999, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Godzilla...
As someone who felt for a time that no one remembered these shows, isn't the internet and especially TH-cam the greatest thing!? We were not imagining all these crazy shows that we watched. They existed and they were good (at least to our young eyes!)
Ernest B , I agree wholeheartedly. Often ,I reference an actress, a scene or a plotline from a bygone era and and people stare like I've suddenly pulled a Zaphod and grown a second head. ( a parallel one, not stacked). I remember either rushing home weekdays t9 catch my favorite shows or staying inside nearly all day Saturday yo watch cartoons and monster movies. We didn't need much to be entertained: A robot, a space ship, a dastardly villan and a bowl of sugar and milk masquerading as a healthy breakfast cereal.
Nope. The title of Coolest RV Ever belongs to the EM50 Urban Assault Vehicle. "What have we got?! What have WE got?! We've got one heavily-armed recreational vehicle here, man!" Pvt. Winger, STRIPES.
I was a huge fan of the show. Perhaps you could do a backstory on the other cast members. Glad to hear of Miss Hon's success. She was so beautiful... And still, is! Thanks for expanding the world... and the memories, we live in. ✌
I loved this show as a kid. I really had a thing for Ruth as all little boys did. I was just watching an episode on YT, as I haven't seen this in forty odd years. Dr. Smith was the guest star in a plot highly borrowed from Oliver Twist. Despite the beauty of Hon, sadly I couldn't make it through the episode, but it was a nice little trip down nostalgia lane.
Ah...1976...Ark II was on right before Shazam and right after The Mighty ISIS . A beautiful natural woman and all 3 shows were kid friendly and wholesome . TY for posting .
Ark 2 another one of my Saturday morning CBS favorites ,and one I wish they would do a reboot modern version of. But I did like the Jonah character it is too bad you didn't mention that actor passed away. Hon was a beauty back then as she is now and I'm glad she's doing okay.
I loved Arc 2 as a child I watched it every Saturday on CBS and it was so cool I loved the vehicle it was so awesome and Jean Marie Hawn was the most gorgeous actress ever oh my God I would love to see another incarnation of Arc too Terry Lester I guess went on to do Young and the restless is Jack Abbott but oh my God I would love to see like a you know expanded universe of comic books novels of Arc 2 to me as a Sci-Fi fan if we it would be so awesome we cool I miss that TV show so much and if they was going to be a reboot in the form of comic books and expanded novels I would buy each and every comic book and novel of art too I miss that show so much
I met Jean Marie (yes, pronounced same as 'Gene') in 1977 in Honolulu when she was there filming a pilot for a show called 'The Big Island' - which was not picked up for further production - and decided to stay for awhile before returning to California. We hit it off and spent quite a bit of time together before she ultimately returned home. At the time I thought we might have a future, but her career an mine ended up precluding that and I never saw her again. I have thought at times 'what if?'
Saturday mornings back in the day were full of great stuff !!! Loved Ark 2, Run Joe Run, Far Out Space Nuts, Shazam, Isis, Banana Splits, Danger Island...
Great timing! Believe it or not, I was wondering about this show the other day. Any word on what path the other two actors took? Also, do you happen to remember a show called "Run Joe Run"?
I remember Run Joe Run too. A German Shepard on the run, being tracked by his trainer. Each week he'd encounter someone new and help them. I even have a vague memory of there being toys based on the show. Or if not actually based on the show, then a line of toys centered around a dog action figure, complete with accessories like a stretcher, etc.
I vaguely remember Ark II. I do remember as a wee lad back then, I would always try to catch it, but I watched it more for the Ark II vehicle and the flying jetpack sequences. And yeah, as a kid, I dug Jean Marie Hon. I do believe the body of the Ark II transport was the basis for the Seeker space ships in Space Academy. My favorite Saturday morning show was Jason of Star Command in 1978. Between it on Saturday mornings, and Battlestar Galactica on Sunday nights, I had my weekly Star Wars fix on tv. :)
You're right, I read an interview with one of the Jason cast that said they reused the abandoned Ark 2 bodywork on location if they had to be shown disembarking the ship, (It was built modular so that the frame and drivetrain could be put to use with other vehicles
Count me in as one who had big crush on Jean Marie Hon. Wasn't into show that much but tuned in to see her. Had I known she were on Man from Atlantis, I would've watched that too.
Great sleuthing, As a kid I loved these show so much. Do you recall a show named Ghost Busters, Spencer, Tracy and Kong. It had Forest Tucker, Agar from F-Troop and a gorilla? There was another show where some kids traveled around in a van or Winnebago? Can't remember much more? Thanks Dave I really need the nostalgia right now.
I really liked these shows too but another one of my favorites was Westwind. A story about a family who sailed the seas around Hawaii and their adventures. It starred Van Williams, Niki Dantine, Kimberly Beck (one of my first crushes) and Steve Burns. I can only find the shows opening on TH-cam. I would love to see this one again.
It was more than her great looks that caught my attention. Her disposition stood out big time. She came across to me as being very intelligent and a very caring /loving person. Yes she was very HOT on ARC 2.
Ark II was the same year that the cartoons Tarzan Lord Of The Jungle and Batman also premiered on CBS on Saturday mornings. I was in the third grade at that time. That really was the golden age of Saturday morning TV. I do remember watching Ark II regularly when it was on at that time and it was an interesting show for kids. Many of the props for Ark II were reused for other Filmation shows like Space Academy and Jason Of Star Command in subsequent years.
You touched on another favorite of mine here, Dave, as I tried to catch the series regularly. Jean-Marie has always been lovely, and I'm happy that she is doing well. Does any know anything on Jose Flores( Samuel) for certain? I note at least ten people by that name at IMDb, several of them are, or were actors. Yeah, I liked all of live action Filmation programs of that era. Given that DC owns the rights to Isis now, I wonder if parent Company Warner Brothers bought the rights to all of the Filmation programs? Man from Atlantis was another fav - shame they didn't give it more of a chance.
I don't think I ever saw more than a couple episodes of Ark II. I'm not sure why as it's the type of show I would have watched. Maybe it wasn't broadcast in this area. I was a huge fan of Space Academy though. I had a huge crush on Pamelyn Ferdin. :)
I met her at the local pharmacy, in about 2013, where she was one of the pharmacists. She introduced herself as Jean Barker, pronouncing Jean like blue jeans. Jean Marie Hon was a goddess of beauty on those shows. I was probably too young to even understand why I couldn't stop looking at her!
Same here Soo hot
I was 10 and knew exactly why😊❤
Jean Marie Hon is still as beautiful today as she was when she did Ark 2 I'm glad that she's alive and well and may God bless her for all the adventures she gave us on Saturday mornings

She's a bit younger, but basically my contemporary (I grew up in Pacific Palisades with Barry (Blenkhorn) Williams), but I never once had any urge to have an urge for her. Looking at her now, I'm still not drawn to her. But it was amusing to watch. Mahalo.
She's still beautiful, when I was a kid I had a crush on her too.
I loved this show and had a crush on Jean Marie. I am glad she did so well after leaving show business
It started off on Saturday mornings but I remember it on Sunday mornings syndication
I had a crush on Jean Marie, too! The episode with Robbie the Robot made me cry as a kid.
I'm 51 yrs old now.
I remember these show so well...
Ark 2
Land Of The Lost
Sha-Zam
Isis
Space Academy
Jason Of Star Command
Electra-Woman & Dyna-Girl
Wild Boy & BigFoot
The Red Hand Gang
Monster Squad
The Ghost Busters
Big Blue Marble
The Razzle-Dazzle Show
Great Great memories & reminiscing tears of my childhood in the 70s!!!
Yah. Jean Marie was a favorite! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos, Scott!
I was a huge fan of Ark 2 , and of Jean Marie Hon.
I loved the show when I was young. I can't remember what channel runs it hier in Brazil!
Happy times!
What a smile!
Coolest RV ever !
The Landmaster from Damnation Alley beats it, imo.
Nope. The title of Coolest RV Ever belongs to the EM50 Urban Assault Vehicle. "What have we got?! What have WE got?! We've got one heavily-armed recreational vehicle here, man!" Pvt. Winger, STRIPES.
She was so pretty! I loved the show too. I wanted an Ark like that lmao
I remember this show wasn't on long but I liked it
Wow I had forgotten this one.
That show, and others like BJ and the Bear, and an Uncle's friend who had one from Vietnam, are the reason why I still, to this day, want a Chimp.
I remember this show.! I loved that truck!
I missed seeing this show, but I fondly remember Jean Marie in other TV shows. She was a cutie!
I was a huge fan of the show. Perhaps you could do a backstory on the other cast members. Glad to hear of Miss Hon's success. She was so beautiful... And still, is! Thanks for expanding the world... and the memories, we live in. ✌
I wish this show had a bigger following and more eps. I loved this show. Give this a reboot
I get it, Roi. Sometimes our memories make us remember shows as better than they actually were.
She was/is so hot! I bet young Jose had trouble focussing on his lines.
Glad she found a life outside of acting and i used to love this show.
They have a bio video here on TH-cam about ark 2. Jean marie and the head of filmation give a history of the series.
A link would have been cool
I remember my frustration with this show and how they kept showing repeat episodes. I was hooked
Big fan of the show and Jean as well
I loved Arc 2 as a child I watched it every Saturday on CBS and it was so cool I loved the vehicle it was so awesome and Jean Marie Hawn was the most gorgeous actress ever oh my God I would love to see another incarnation of Arc too Terry Lester I guess went on to do Young and the restless is Jack Abbott but oh my God I would love to see like a you know expanded universe of comic books novels of Arc 2 to me as a Sci-Fi fan if we it would be so awesome we cool I miss that TV show so much and if they was going to be a reboot in the form of comic books and expanded novels I would buy each and every comic book and novel of art too I miss that show so much
I met Jean Marie (yes, pronounced same as 'Gene') in 1977 in Honolulu when she was there filming a pilot for a show called 'The Big Island' - which was not picked up for further production - and decided to stay for awhile before returning to California.
Wow another show I need to watch on youtube.
I watched this show throughout the 70s and then, years later, I bought the boxed dvd set. Love the show, till this day, cheezy as it ws.....
Dude you're awesome, literally all of my childhood on your channel
P. S. How bout Jason of Star Command?
Great suggestion!
Great timing! Believe it or not, I was wondering about this show the other day. Any word on what path the other two actors took?
Also, do you happen to remember a show called "Run Joe Run"?
I know that Terry Lester passed away. He had a relatively long career acting in soap operas. I don't really know what happened with Jose Flores.
I remember Run Joe Run. It was about a fugitive dog.
Its on youtube
Loved this show when I was a kid!
th-cam.com/video/_FM3Z2NEowo/w-d-xo.html
The show was as campy the original Batman, but as it is, that's what in the 70's is the reason that made it something to watch.
Beautiful lady for sure.
I forgot about this show until now
Count me in as one who had big crush on Jean Marie Hon. Wasn't into show that much but tuned in to see her. Had I known she were on Man from Atlantis, I would've watched that too.
There is an interview with her on the DVD boxed set.
I loved all the Filmation live action shows when I was a kid, but Ark II as well as Shazam!, Isis and Jason of Star Command were my faves!
Awesome. Thanks.
CBS had all the great Saturday morning TV shows in the 70s. Ark II was one of the best.
Pollution and waste.
A 70's show that is still relevant today.
Terry Lester died WAY too young.
@Ground Hog Go back to 4 Chan weirdo.
It was more than her great looks that caught my attention. Her disposition stood out big time. She came across to me as being very intelligent and a very caring /loving person. Yes she was very HOT on ARC 2.
As an eighteen year old I watched this show and had a big crush on her
Ark II was the same year that the cartoons Tarzan Lord Of The Jungle and Batman also premiered on CBS on Saturday mornings.
Beautiful and smart. My 12yo self definitely had a crush on her. So glad she did well in life.
Forgot all about this show. It feels like it didn’t run that long.
Only 15 episodes....but CBS played the heck out of them for almost 4 years!
