Wasn’t bad, on this truck. Was told there were baffles inside the pipes and that toned it down just a touch. The 5” true straights were definitely louder.
Bigger pipes make a HUGE difference! I'll post a video of another 5EK we have that has 8" bull haulers on it. You almost wouldn't believe the difference.
You are so true on this comment the only way to slow them big rigs down power shifting and left foot on the brake they will stop a lot faster with some one behind the wheel that knows how to drive
Makes sense. Wasn't sure what was causing that thump. Overhead has been run, jakes are in adjustment. It has been needing rebuilt for at least as long as I've been behind the wheel (January). Doesn't run anywhere close to the 500 it is supposed to be.
@@n8bolton Great driving. I am just starting to read about these N-14 engines. How many positions are with the Jake brake? I assume they always have 3 for an inline 6, but I came across RV and trucks with only hi-lo.
@@maestrovso Generally, there are 3 positions. This Kenworth has an on/off toggle and a 3-position selector for the number of cylinders activated. My FLD has a switch to activate 2 cylinders and another to activate the other 4. One switch is for low, the other is medium and both together are high.
Please post more of this one, absolutely love that N14 sound!!!

в америке ставят прямотоки чтобы грузовик звучал как можно громче, в россии делают наоборот , ставят свои глушители чтобы потом не трещала голова

Where I work we have 7 trucks and only one doesn’t have an N14. Will never not love the sound of these beastly motors.
Same. Cats are cool. Nothing sounds better than an N14, though.
Nice! If I drove somethin that sounded like that I 'd never want to get out of her!
Same thing I said about your mom
Sounds absolutely awesome good shifting to
Thanks for actuating my favorite dashboard switch N8.. CACKLE CACKLE!
well done chief. man i miss driving the n14. used to drive a w800 vac-con. 10spd she would really move

Sigh... Such a beautiful sound 😌
Why is your steering wheel all bent up? 😂 sounds good. Got one my own.
How you get the camera to sit still like that? Nice vid by the way
Hello everyone,
What’s the major downside of a N14 ?
Hes got his seat like hes driving a Buick Electra in 1967. Where does that come from?
GOOSEBUMPS CERTIFIED 💯
It’s sounds a little more choppy than other n14 engine want makes it sound like that?
That’s a jake sound that fire ladder trucks should have.
Fuck yeah driver. I just started training in an old heavy spec pete. Can't wait to row them gears this smoothe.
Great guy, makes it look easy and fun....

What year truck? Different year n14 sounds different I like this one
‘96. This one had a flat cam lobe. That’s why it has that weird thump.

Is this a right hand drive KW or is it just the video ??
Video is mirrored
How much is visible outside thro windows n eindsheild, sitting that low.

Right hand drive? That's interesting. Never seen a right hand drive truck in the states
Camera inverted
That is exactly what I was thinking. I don't know if the comment about the camera being inverted is accurate though.
Can I get a second gen signature Jake's to sound as good as this?
All Bark and All Bite! Beautiful engine.
What’s with the right hand drive in America mate?
Used the front-facing camera on my phone. It mirrors the picture you see. Left-hand drive truck.
Aaah, I’m in Australia and thought you were driving here.
Great video and shifting. I have one too.
I was thinking the same. I can't even remember the last time I've seen a 13 or 18 Eaton in trucks here. Always been 18s.

It's just a slang way of referring to an N14 Celect Plus, the final iteration and most advanced version of the N14.
