They also removed fullblock frames from the startup of Shield Tackle. It used to be able to continue blocking for some amount of time (maybe 100ms?) from the moment you released Shield Tackle. From what I've experienced so far, you NEED to wait for someone to hit your shield before you can initiate Shield Tackle safely. It's taken (and still taking) quite a while to get used to.
@@fkkfreeze Maybe they removed some amount of it, but you could absolutely release the fullblock early INTO an attack and get the followup. It also costed less stamina to release it into a heavy early, but not a light - doing so would randomly consume between 20-24 stamina. There's a bug report about it, if you search "Valkyrie Stamina" you can find it.

I can third this. While I don't have any proof (or even realized this was a thing), I have found myself getting interrupted by attacks attempting to do this very often after this newest rework.

I think I’ve run into a bug with Valkyrie where doing shoulder pin in minion lane has a chance to be completely nullified if shoulder pin makes contact with a minion (friendly or not). You’d probably want to test just to make sure but I caught on with this very quickly on my first few games playing Valkyrie.
To be honest I'd advise it for all controller users. It's far easier to counter gaurd breaks as you always leave the finger on it. Square never worked for me.
The only buff I want to see on her would be the ability to still go into stance on back dodge as well. It's the most vulnerable dodge anyway, and completely messes with my muscle memory.
@danielmunguia8341 I don't remember it from before. Was it returning to the guard after a missed lunge, or just being able to enter it again afterward? Cause at current the only thing I can think of is if you land the bash you get the free stab which combos into a heavy that you can cancel into the guard, making a reliable way to be back in guard before the opponent can retaliate. Technically you could swing a heavy, cancel into guard, feint to heavy, cancel into guard, etc. or followup the bash with another heavy instead of the stab, which obviously can also cancel into the guard stance.
@danielmunguia8341 I'm not really sure why they got rid of the back dodge into guard; it wasn't exactly OP, especially with the higher GB-vulnerability. The animation was 100% smooth asf and made complete sense. Just make it work on forward or back dodge same as orochi with his stance

As a Tiandi main, I’m quite happy with the update. I haven’t felt much of the valk rework but I also haven’t fought or played as valk much but so far this update has been a total W for me. I plan to get back into the game from my short break
For everyone advocating for shield tackle nerf, that is not the point. Even if that is a 400ms bash that confirm 20 damage, you cannot compare it to neutral bashes, for it doesn't come out of neutral, you have to perform one or two other actions that are vulnerable to gb to reach that. Think at it like a variation of a chargeable bash mixup: damage wise, the values are similar ( the middle value beetween light and heavy confirmed attacks is ~21, 22 for hito), both are vulnerable to gb, but in valk case before the move, not after, and both can deal with light interruption attempts, by throwing a lv1 bash (unless you're cent lol) or just by standing in fb. That being said, stamina damage needs to go, and if the damage of the mixup is considered too high, I think that a good nerf would be lower the damage values of chain and finisher heavyes instead.

I find her tricks have become a bit like Warlord on delaying the full block just enough to mess with people. As a Valk main I'm mixed feelings on the change, definitely stronger but also plays differently.
Valk has always had a unique kit and yes Warlord can't soft feint into full block. But the games they both play can be similar, compared to before the timing for Valk has changed and this feels like when I play warlord who happens to be my second most used charecter. You can catch a lot of people who are jumpy or get smart by pre-empting their gaurd break letting the bash/attack fly.
She's incredibly oppressive. It's pretty great. Damage might be overtuned here and there given how effective the kit is, but her ability to actually do stuff is really cool. It's mostly the 20 damage bash that's crazy to me. It feels a lot like Kyoshin's fullblock on top of it but even less committal and more frequently usable. Found myself getting hit out of trying to punish it with a read so often.
It's really not that bad. If you think about it it does less damage than a unblockable mixup and if you guess right you can punish for more damage. You think there gonna heavy? Parry. If you think there gonna go for a bash mix then guardbreak as they throw the heavy.
I would argue that nerfing the part of the mixup that deals less damage is not an healthy way tune it: let's assume the damage go down to 16 for example, because the intended way to deal with the mixup is gb on read on heavy, you are risking 24,27 or 30 to avoid 16, why would you even bother making such a risky move? If anything, the stamina damage is too much, and maybe the damage of chain and finisher heavy can be looked at...
Sooo I just noticed that when the other valk hits the Black Prior at 10:06, the Circle around his emblem starts glowing in and out faintly for exactly 5 seconds. Does that mean that your opponent will gain revenge if you hit him while it's glowing?? Just noticed this lol. Was this always in the game or was it just added?
depends how you look at it. Had the GB TG not been scrapped, this wouldn't be a thing anymore. So either they forgot because of that, or kept it in on purpose.

You say in the video that the bash is unreactable. I play almost 100% breach, quite often i find myslf against opponents that can consistently dodge my bashes. I try to time it differently, from instant release to 1 sec release or 2 sec release and they keep on dodging. One strange thing i find is that they don't dodge attack, only dodge and even if i hold the full block for more than 3 seconds, they still don't GB. So, is the bash reactable or are there loads of scripters in the game?
Remember how during testing grounds a bunch of people were saying she was garbage and her bash didn't work? Someone was trying to tell me that she was nerfed. Yeah. LOL.
Admittedly, it took us a while during the TG to realize her potential. And we probably still haven't fully understood what she's all about. That can go both ways... maybe we find something where she truly lacks.

I'm kinda skeptical so I need someone to tell me Can't you just GB Valkyrie if she decides to dodge forward into you to open up? Thus fully negate her ''opener'' easily so? Everything else is amazing on her rework but I'm so goddamn scared to go into full block from neutral if someone is turtling up in fear that you can GB her on reaction since dodge forward light is very telegraphed.
I think she’s too safe. From trying her out and playing against her, I think her kit is so difficult to punish, especially if you’re playing as a lower tier hero.
I love being wrong, stam damage needs to go, Medjay tier zone hitbox is hilarious, faster top needs to come back, would've loved undodgeable finishers but that's never gonna happen, really smooth defensive hero, actually feels like a Hybrid unlike LB and Highlander who are just heavies. Also does anyone keep getting GBed out of Valk lights? maybe I'm getting hard read but man my neutral lights are just not stopping GBs on Valk. Might be a frame disadvantage thing, technically I believe lights have a tiny precise window of GB vulnerability which is ... stupid and very counter-intuitive
Man, I kinda want 400ms bashes to become the norm. For characters like Orochi that have recovery cancels can have a different window. That way they don't have it comfired on specific moves, or in Tiandi/Zahn's cases, they'll keep the same frame advantage rules. Idk about bashes that have a min window of 100ms, but the 300-500 one's should for sure.
I really hope guard removal on dodges doesn't become a thing. I just personally think it felt awful to play with it. The 4v4 problem of blocking one side and dodging another could easily be fixed by giving all static guard heroes a guard switch in dodge direction, like BP or tiandi already have.
@@NeoNaito also the thing they are hoping to fix is external block while dodging opposite direction from guard, which negates opposing bash/undodgeable mixup. Forcing block into dodge direction would fix that "OP" aspect in 4v4s without gutting dodges in duels.
Personally I'm loving her so far and I don't find it bad to go against her. But one issue I do see is that it's almost impossible to GB her from full guard. The opponent can quickly react to a GB by releasing the X/Square button. Other full guard heroes can do something like this (Warlord early releasing into heavy, or Kyoshin early releasing into light or zone). So it's not necessarily much of an issue. But I feel Valkyrie can do it easier. So the only real way to punish is dodge attacking on read.
@@fkkfreeze I shouldn't have said on reaction. It's on read. But still, I feel it's pretty easy to get out of the full guard to not suffer a GB (and punish the person trying to GB). But again, I don't necessarily have a problem with that. Just an observation
The only thing I wish is that they add back the dodge back fullblock. It was a nice defensive option to create some distance and its better to retaliate attacks than to be forced to dodge foward.
dude, i miss Season 1-4 valk (or whenever they removed it) when they took away the dodge back full block, and knock down if you had it fully charged. I DESTROYED everyone with the old valkyrie, even when she was considered one of the worst picks, and you rarely ever see Valks back then, and you still dont now. Now with the new valkyrie i cant be bothered to adjust to her.
It sucks how much valkyrie gets countered by anyone with a dodge bash attack. The character performs SOO well against anyone else. The dodge bash destroys any opener, or chain mixup that the valkyrie can do. The only option is feinting to neutral EVERYTIME which is a problem if that’s how your kit can be abused
Valk is actually decent now at countering dodge bashes since she can dodge/dodge attack out of her full-block. She'll be even better once dodge bashes can get GB'd.

So why go it for it if you just guard break heavy and her heavys do 24 damage… pitiful damage other than that she the exact same, idk she what ppl are talking about stamina drain on crush because hitting with crush was very difficult to do against decent players I highly recommend an un-dodgeball on 2nd heavy somewhere in the chain to enforce standing there at her second heavy is 28 I believe so that would’ve been fine but no slight changes are not going to work here.

That bash is NOT reactable to anybody. if you react to movement you can dodge it, but you are not reacting to feint to GB that way. That move is different, and it's exactly the other way round. in a month people might have finally caught up why she's actually regarded that strong.

I disagree with this these changes don't make her S tier, yes there are good changes but she gets completely shut down by halting her own offense waiting for a reaction vs throwing a heavy. 75% of her kit is GBable from neutral and in ganks it's very safe to gb her out of it, her heavies don't track as well as they did in the TCG or duels compared to 4v4, and her sweep is very finicky when changing targets but every dodges anyway, so yes undodgeables are still necessary. With the abundance of dodge attacks her end "mixup" will continue to be feint to parry a majority of the time. I just gb every valk I see and try for light parries after a few gbs and poof shut down and then they leave the game. They should have kept her back guard and given it the ability to dodge gbs(unless its timed right or you gb after she holds the guard). The delay timing for heavies was shortened significantly and her full block doesn't activate fast enough to catch lights nor does letting go for the bash come through to protect against feinting a heavy into gb. Everyone talking about tracking is smoking something that I would like because that just simply does not happen in 4s for me, it happened twice and I physically exclaimed that it finally happened, Duels is a different story but people still consistently dodged through the attacks more times then not.
I've tested it and I can now confirm that I don't like at all the way her bash works now. I would have preffered if she got a proper full block stance just like conq and kept her old bash just the way it was; I'm also not sure why her pin still applies bleed damage and not direct damage, and in my opinion the sweep must be guardbreak punishable Very, very mitiged overall about Valk now but I'm glad she's successful after seasons of being disregarded

Playing somewhat top level, it astonishes me how often characters become unbearable. I understand people finding exploits for fun but they need to be handled asap. The dev team loves to wait half a year or longer before balancing an exploitable "free win" character. I remember when warden finally got their bash to gb and peacekeeper got her bleed that bled almost all of your health fixed, and even that took a fat minute. I get it, they need to make money, but them going for the cash grab of just "let the people get their free wins so they'll play our game more" is the reason I don't love this game like I used to. There's always something stupidly impossible to challenge now, and now it's a high level player on valk with a forward dodge to all gaurd and bash mix up, with almost no stamina cost to do so. The new hyper armored shugoki lmao
She needs a light spam nerf, I keep running into newer players who gravitate to valk because of her almost unreactable light's that are also immune to blocks, so they can immediately use another one and then trip you and heavy. It's pretty much teaching new players to ignore heavies as their too hard to land when you don't know how to feint/parry and block break effectively.
If you can't parry or dodge them, that's not their problem. Players are going to use whatever they can to win, if you can't beat it, that's why they're doing it.
I'm glad for the rework. It's a lot of fun, and she is pretty strong. Enjoyed her since I got the game, and I'm glad she is no longer a throw-pick. I hesitate to use the word unique, but I feel it actually fits.

Irrelevant to the video but I wish you could bring awareness to the monstrosity that is ninja stars (Shinobi’s unique tier two feat) and the absolute ridiculous amount of damage it does. I took nearly 100 damage from a Shinobi (no attack buffs nor did I have any debuffs) from those stars at close range. It’s a tier two feat, no way should ANY tier two feat be allowed to nearly do as much damage as Medjay’s tier 4 feat in axe mode. The requirements are not hard to meet either, it’s literally being up close and personal to Shinobi which he’s all about at the moment with his gank potential. They NEED to nerf it, it is horrendously overpowered and absolutely needs to be nerfed so that the max amount of stars hitting a player is 1 or they reduce the damage to 5 so 4 equals 20 damage. The wide hit range to hit everyone is already enough of an advantage over other throwable feats such as kunai. It doesn’t need to do nearly 80-100 damage on top of this. Seriously, whoever gave that feat the green light was on drugs or something.
I always felt like valk was fine as a character post rework, this makes her a lot more aggressive but yeah. FYI, they'll probably nerf the confirm bash damage. It's ridiculous that it does 20 dmg and im a valk main.

As a valkrie main i kinda hate it. Feels like her entire combo freezes with full guard stance and she still lacks openers. I also miss the retreat full stance. Overall just feels like shit to play even if shes better
This isn't a valk specific issue. Dodge bashes are generally strong. And your initial statement is false. They fixed the majority of her issues, like her heavies sabotaging her kit, with one side knocking people out of range for feint to gb, and the other out of range of sweep. On the topic of her sweep, it is no longer a free punish for her opponent, it's unreactable for most people. She actually has viable openers now. Don't know if she still loses her guard on dodge, but that won't be unique to her and assassins soon.
Yet it's easy to dodge her heavy attack. So that kinda pisses me off since you'll have a relay on light attack and bash. (and to mess with people using scripts, I honestly can't tell who is cheating and who isn't.)

Definitely not. Raiders hyperarmoer and more variable mixup is still superior. Expessualy with his hyperarmoer wide heavys for ganks and his instant unblockable access.

However I recently learned that valks bash is 400ms. Which makes her slightly less good or just as good as raider in duels.

For any controller players struggling with holding GB I would rebind it the L1 or the left bumper, makes all the inputs involving it alot easier

If you think about it it does less damage than a unblockable mixup and if you guess right you can punish for more damage.
You think there gonna heavy? Parry. If you think there gonna go for a bash mix then guardbreak as they throw the heavy.
I would argue that nerfing the part of the mixup that deals less damage is not an healthy way tune it: let's assume the damage go down to 16 for example, because the intended way to deal with the mixup is gb on read on heavy, you are risking 24,27 or 30 to avoid 16, why would you even bother making such a risky move? If anything, the stamina damage is too much, and maybe the damage of chain and finisher heavy can be looked at...

You say in the video that the bash is unreactable. I play almost 100% breach, quite often i find myslf against opponents that can consistently dodge my bashes. I try to time it differently, from instant release to 1 sec release or 2 sec release and they keep on dodging. One strange thing i find is that they don't dodge attack, only dodge and even if i hold the full block for more than 3 seconds, they still don't GB. So, is the bash reactable or are there loads of scripters in the game?

I love being wrong, stam damage needs to go, Medjay tier zone hitbox is hilarious, faster top needs to come back, would've loved undodgeable finishers but that's never gonna happen, really smooth defensive hero, actually feels like a Hybrid unlike LB and Highlander who are just heavies. Man, I kinda want 400ms bashes to become the norm. For characters like Orochi that have recovery cancels can have a different window. That way they don't have it comfired on specific moves, or in Tiandi/Zahn's cases, they'll keep the same frame advantage rules. Idk about bashes that have a min window of 100ms, but the 300-500 one's should for sure.

Yeah the current situation where bashes are really strong for most people but a few high reaction time guys can completely negate them.
I really hope guard removal on dodges doesn't become a thing. I just personally think it felt awful to play with it. The 4v4 problem of blocking one side and dodging another could easily be fixed by giving all static guard heroes a guard switch in dodge direction, like BP or tiandi already have.
Guarding whole having frames makes external dodging OP. Only superior blocking towards direction you are going should remain.

I'm annoyed they removed the shield crush entirely. I just came back to the game and Valk was my main. Not sure what to think about her anymore.
Personally I'm loving her so far and I don't find it bad to go against her. But one issue I do see is that it's almost impossible to GB her from full guard. The opponent can quickly react to a GB by releasing the X/Square button. Other full guard heroes can do something like this (Warlord early releasing into heavy, or Kyoshin early releasing into light or zone). So it's not necessarily much of an issue. But I feel Valkyrie can do it easier. So the only real way to punish is dodge attacking on read.

The only thing I wish is that they add back the dodge back fullblock. It was a nice defensive option to create some distance and its better to retaliate attacks than to be forced to dodge foward.

dude, i miss Season 1-4 valk (or whenever they removed it) when they took away the dodge back full block, and knock down if you had it fully charged. I DESTROYED everyone with the old valkyrie, even when she was considered one of the worst picks, and you rarely ever see Valks back then, and you still dont now. Now with the new valkyrie i cant be bothered to adjust to her.

It sucks how much valkyrie gets countered by anyone with a dodge bash attack. The character performs SOO well against anyone else. The dodge bash destroys any opener, or chain mixup that the valkyrie can do. The only option is feinting to neutral EVERYTIME which is a problem if that’s how your kit can be abused
Valk is actually decent now at countering dodge bashes since she can dodge/dodge attack out of her full-block. She'll be even better once dodge bashes can get GB'd.
Actually you are able to dodge out of her full guard which will counter dodge bashes.
Good dodge bashes are always really strong

Valkyrie is not S tier man that shield crush is so noticeable it’s not even funny the sweep is just as react-able and leads to 24 damage…. So why go it for it if you just guard break heavy and her heavys do 24 damage… pitiful damage other than that she the exact same, idk she what ppl are talking about stamina drain on crush because hitting with crush was very difficult to do against decent players I highly recommend an un-dodgeball on 2nd heavy somewhere in the chain to enforce standing there at her second heavy is 28 I believe so that would’ve been fine but no slight changes are not going to work here.

I disagree with this these changes don't make her S tier, yes there are good changes but she gets completely shut down by halting her own offense waiting for a reaction vs throwing a heavy. 75% of her kit is GBable from neutral and in ganks it's very safe to gb her out of it, her heavies don't track as well as they did in the TCG or duels compared to 4v4, and her sweep is very finicky when changing targets but every dodges anyway, so yes undodgeables are still necessary. With the abundance of dodge attacks her end "mixup" will continue to be feint to parry a majority of the time. I just gb every valk I see and try for light parries after a few gbs and poof shut down and then they leave the game. They should have kept her back guard and given it the ability to dodge gbs(unless its timed right or you gb after she holds the guard). The delay timing for heavies was shortened significantly and her full block doesn't activate fast enough to catch lights nor does letting go for the bash come through to protect against feinting a heavy into gb. Everyone talking about tracking is smoking something that I would like because that just simply does not happen in 4s for me, it happened twice and I physically exclaimed that it finally happened, Duels is a different story but people still consistently dodged through the attacks more times then not.

I'm also not sure why her pin still applies bleed damage and not direct damage, and in my opinion the sweep must be guardbreak punishable

Playing somewhat top level, it astonishes me how often characters become unbearable. I understand people finding exploits for fun but they need to be handled asap. The dev team loves to wait half a year or longer before balancing an exploitable "free win" character. I remember when warden finally got their bash to gb and peacekeeper got her bleed that bled almost all of your health fixed, and even that took a fat minute. I get it, they need to make money, but them going for the cash grab of just "let the people get their free wins so they'll play our game more" is the reason I don't love this game like I used to. There's always something stupidly impossible to challenge now, and now it's a high level player on valk with a forward dodge to all gaurd and bash mix up, with almost no stamina cost to do so. She is too strong in 4v4 but not in duel. Nerfing the 20dmg will worsen her good 1v1, while still being top tier in 4v4.
She needs a light spam nerf, I keep running into newer players who gravitate to valk because of her almost unreactable light's that are also immune to blocks, so they can immediately use another one and then trip you and heavy. It's pretty much teaching new players to ignore heavies as their too hard to land when you don't know how to feint/parry and block break effectively.
If you can't parry or dodge them, that's not their problem. Players are going to use whatever they can to win, if you can't beat it, that's why they're doing it.
I'm glad for the rework. It's a lot of fun, and she is pretty strong. Enjoyed her since I got the game, and I'm glad she is no longer a throw-pick. I hesitate to use the word unique, but I feel it actually fits.

Irrelevant to the video but I wish you could bring awareness to the monstrosity that is ninja stars (Shinobi’s unique tier two feat) and the absolute ridiculous amount of damage it does. I took nearly 100 damage from a Shinobi (no attack buffs nor did I have any debuffs) from those stars at close range. It’s a tier two feat, no way should ANY tier two feat be allowed to nearly do as much damage as Medjay’s tier 4 feat in axe mode.
The requirements are not hard to meet either, it’s literally being up close and personal to Shinobi which he’s all about at the moment with his gank potential.
They NEED to nerf it, it is horrendously overpowered and absolutely needs to be nerfed so that the max amount of stars hitting a player is 1 or they reduce the damage to 5 so 4 equals 20 damage. The wide hit range to hit everyone is already enough of an advantage over other throwable feats such as kunai. It doesn’t need to do nearly 80-100 damage on top of this.
Seriously, whoever gave that feat the green light was on drugs or something.

And your initial statement is false. They fixed the majority of her issues, like her heavies sabotaging her kit, with one side knocking people out of range for feint to gb, and the other out of range of sweep. On the topic of her sweep, it is no longer a free punish for her opponent, it's unreactable for most people. She actually has viable openers now. Don't know if she still loses her guard on dodge, but that won't be unique to her and assassins soon.

However I recently learned that valks bash is 400ms. Which makes her slightly less good or just as good as raider in duels.
