    I have the string trimmer, pole saw, and just ordered the hedge trimmer. I don't even have hedges ...lol....but my daughter does. The pole saw is amazing and I use the string trimmer weekly during grass season.I would never go back to gas. The cordless is much easier to start !

    I just bought this trimmer edger system and my only dislike was the string head. I took it off and put on a weed thrasher head and it turned it into an awesome trimmer. I have never been a fan of the string trimmer heads and the jamming and twisting up of the string in the head. I have had the weed thrasher on my old gasoline Echo trimmer and its awesome on there also. As far as im concerned the weed thrasher is the best trimmer head on the market and it just makes the Milwaukee trimmer just that much better of a machine than with the factory head. Thanks for the demo you pretty much said the same as what I thought of the milwaukee system. Im just hoping that they are going to come out with a mini tiller that I can use to till between the rows in my garden LOL

    Good video brother , I just recently got my hands on one of these...I got the string trimmer , pole saw and the hedge trimmer. I also have the older string trimmer and I am here to tell ya that the newer unit is faster than the older unit ( string trimmer ) and it seems to have more power as well. Pole saw is great , as is the hedge trimmer. Kudos to Milwaukee for not rushing to get this system out ahead of everyone else and taking the time to get it right.
    Thanks for addressing the voltage concerns , Milwaukee gets plenty of current out of these batteries to run these small brushless motors.

    Milwaukee rocks..tried the EGO weed wacker and was very disappointed. Unit was awkward and I was not happy with results. Returned unit to Home depot and got the Milwaukee#2825-20st wacker quick lock and was very happy with this unit. Works great on low setting, .080 line and lasts forever. the rapid charger is a great bonus, and I can use with my Milwaukee drill batteries.

    Good video as usual and informative. The chain saw in video is nice but not convenient in some situations. I was hoping a while back that Milwaukee would come out with a chain saw only that was smaller than what they have out now (2727-20). I wound-up buying the Dewalt DCCS620B 20V MAX XR Compact 12 in. chainsaw. It works very well for the quick small jobs rather firing up my Stihl.

    Great review! I agree with you on pretty much every point. I've been a happy M18 system owner since the first compact drill driver in the mid-2000's. I'm so glad Milwaukee is finally taking a serious approach in their outdoor power equipment sector! I've been holding out for a few years to make the jump from 2-stroke to battery in hopes they would do something like this. This kit does not disappoint!
    I bought the trimmer/edger combo during the Home Depot Spring Black Friday deal. Like you said in the review, the power delivery is outstanding! I have also been pleasantly surprised by the included string. For the past 15 years I have been using the same Stihl FS85 trimmer. It was a trusty workhorse that helped me earn a little spending money in high school; but honestly it was a little overkill for my small suburb yard now. My first impressions are that this Milwaukee kit is going to be a perfectly adequate replacement for the old Stihl. And without the noise, clutter, and hassle of the 2-stroke lifestyle.

      @@nissman1753 my 9.0Ahr battery died with fewer than 50 charges and I was very bummed. Replacement was $299 I believe. BUT the battery has a 3 yr warranty or 2000 charges, they scanned the battery and gave me a new XC 8.0Ahr battery and that battery is a BEAST. it can outlast two of my XC 5.0Ahr batteries on my 4.5" grinder on long brutal jobs. The 30 min rapid charger has my XC8 battery fully charged well before my two XC5 Batts are worn down. These batteries have warranties and Milwaukee has been solid in backing anything I've had a problem with.

    Good point's about the trigger system durring the review. It's something I've noticed as well while trying out different battery operated models and trying to compare to gas. That sensitivity can be frustrating. I recently picked up the new Echo 58v string trimmer and feel like they made great improvements on their trigger system. A more true variable speed trigger in my opinion

    I just started looking at these after buying the 18vlt blower and being impressed. I also own a Stihl Kombi 131R with multiple attachments and it’s badass but also kicks my ass every Summer! There’s no other gas combination system even close to being this good but I just can’t take the physical beating anymore especially with my big yard. I’m also sick of smelling gas in the garage when the can decides to burp! LoL
    I think I’m going to jump on board and put it for sale since Summer is just starting.

    Looked up this Quik-Lok version of the trimmer. Tool-only runs $230. Attachments are around $75. I own the original string trimmer, hedge trimmer and chainsaw, so I won't need batteries and chargers. Now for $230, that's a blazing good deal.

    • @PaulStregevsky
      @PaulStregevsky 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only attachments that cost less than $100 are the shoulder strap ($30) and the 3-foot extender ($75). $120 edger; $120 string trimmer attachment (for owners who started with a different kit); $160 pole saw: $170 hedge trimmer. Every now and then a used power head will pop up on eBay and sell for about $130.

    I just got the the trimmer/pole saw combination from Home Depot during their spring Black Friday sale. I also added the edger. No hedges here. The 12AH felt a bit out of balance to me on the trimmer but worked great. I heard they are going back on sale at Home Depot in early May. I first got into the M18 line when I got a drill kit. I charged it up and used it and thought it was a very nice piece of equipment.
    It was weeks of home-owner use later when it hit me: I haven't had to recharge this thing yet.
    I went ahead and bought a few more pieces. I have the hand-held blower (on fast that will eat up a 5.0 battery pretty quickly) and a circular saw as well. Everything has been really solid for me.
    I'd love to pick up the power head and accessories one day, but I have a gas power head with trimmer/edger attachments already (Echo) and it's hard to justify the spend to replace working equipment.

      I already owned a nice Robin 4-cycle string trimmer but I bought the Milwaukee 2825. I justified it fuive ways:1. It can be started (and used) by my wife.2. I can keep one trimmer in the back of the house.3. ).130 string in the Robin for serious weed clearing.4. It's a system and I needed a battery-powered edger.5. I already had three HD12.0 batteries and one HD6.0.

    I concur with nearly everything you found in your review. I'm not getting the trigger thing though. Is it the difference between a gas unit with a centrifugal clutch that you can feather? Clearly there is no clutch on these power heads. I didn't even notice it and feel the turtle mode works great when you are trying not to damage bark or paint or wood posts/fence. The edger is awesome. Just as powerful as my Echo gas stick edger. The first edge of the year was digging like your deep stuff. Now that the edge is established, it's as fast as I can walk. Pole saw and hedge trimmer are also of equal quality. In short, this OPE kit is awesome. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Gas stuff is going on Craigslist.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the trigger starts at 50 percent of the power rather than 20 percent. So my range is not 0-6200, but 3800-6200. I guess this does not run as slow as others. This might be my specific model. Triggers could vary in production. But the travel seems short also

    • @mikemorgan5015
      @mikemorgan5015 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WorkshopAddict yeah, just went out and checked a couple things. I feel in turtle mode it may be less than that on mine, but certainly not 20%. @@WorkshopAddict Actually, I have a new Stihl power head and some 10-12 yr old Craftsman attachments. Although the fitment is a little sketchy, the Craftsman attachments DO lock in and work with the Stihl power head. There are many Tubes out there showing how the different attachments fit with different power heads. I wouldn't recommend doing this for daily use or long term, but for a very rarely used attachment, it works alright in my case.

    I currently have the first generation Echo battery powered trimmer With edger and articulating hedge trimmer attachments But the motor recently broke So i go to homedepot to buy a new Trimmer but the new one doesn't accept attachments it folds in half and the motor is in the lower end above the trimmer spool. Either i purchase a gas power head or switch over to Milwaukee. Looks like Echo dropped the ball on there battery powered line they are falling behind. Looks like i am switching over to Milwaukee.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It feels like the Milwaukee's is more powerful with the edger. We all know that power can be had from gearing and not just motor watts. with that said, this year we are edging early and the area is wet and compacted from the bobcats from last years bobcats. You can watch last years video on the EGO in the same area and watch the dry dirt move a lot easier. The EGO ate an 5.0 Ah battery while edging. The Milwaukee did not and allowed me to string trim completely on the same battery. I need to get these two side by side in the same soil conditions. I dislike the slow speed on the EGO as it is too slow. These two are similar but Milwaukee has some magic going here by making this much power and having the runtime. Does it have to do with gearing and the % of load on the motor?

    I am very impressed with this Milwaukee system. I have two Dewalt 20v MAX XR brushless drills (and a small blower) and have been considering investing in the Dewalt Flexvolt 20V/60V Max system and outdoor power tools. But since I've not sunk too much $$ yet into DeWalt I'm wondering if going with Milwaukee is the better choice. What are folks' thoughts on DeWalt vs Milwaukee for these outdoor power tool applications?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dave, if you buy Dewalt OPE, Go with the 40 volt system. Dewalt considers that the contractor grade.

      WorkshopAddict Thanks, Brian. I've seen the 40v DeWalt line but I won't be using the tools for commercial applications and I prefer to be able to run all my cordless tools on the same battery/charging platform. Tough decision!

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dave, if you are running the 20 volt of FV line, its not tough. Go Milwaukee.

    • @davesmith4479
      @davesmith4479 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why exactly? It seems like the DeWalt 20v/60v Flexvolt batteries allow more cordless tool options (e.g., running up to 120v with two 60v batteries). Milwaukee batteries are 18v (if I'm not mistaken) and I'm not aware of options to run larger tools (e.g., table saw) on the same battery platform.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am only talking outdoor power equipment. In OPE, Dewalt 20 volt is poor performing at this time and the FV items are only a 1P battery and cannot keep up with the Milwaukee 3P batteries due to heat.

    • @PaulStregevsky

      That won't be easy. Milwaukee made the trimmer base with a short, molded circular bump that prevents third-part spinning heads from coupling the trimmer's spinning metal ring. I bought a Tanaka No-Brainer head for my Milwaukee trimmer but the bump left a gap between the Tanaka head and the Milwaukee spinner. The Milwaukee head has a molded cutout (recess) that mates with the bump.

    I like these battery powered trimmers and such however, the one thing I'm concerned about is longevity of the battery and tool platform. In other words, in 5 to 8 years will this platform still be around and batteries still available? I've been using the same gas powered trimmer and chainsaws for well over 10 years with basically zero issues lest for normal wear and tear and maintenance. Additionally I work my tools to the max and I'm still on the wait and see end of things for cordless. I have 20 wooded acres to care for during the Spring, Summer and Fall and my gas powered tools keep working great. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technology changes and it seems to change faster in Battery powered tools than gas, but we are still seeing new gas powered tools change with emissions. Hard to say what will happen. Milwaukee has not changed battery styles on people and we assume they wont. You never know.

    • @DK-jd8bj
      @DK-jd8bj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's so much momentum (sold so many) behind both DeWalt and Milwaukee lines now that these batteries will be available for a long long time. I'm sure if they upgrade the technology they will still fit the old tools.
      If you've got 20 acres you're probably better off with gas. I've got 10 acres and still use my Stihl gas saw if I need to do serious work or cut firewood, but I like the battery tools for around the house.

    • @TheFlatlander440
      @TheFlatlander440 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DK-jd8bj I should hope so since I have an older DeWalt brushed impact driver and drill driver, both 18V XRP's (before Ah ratings) that I purchased in 2011 and can no longer find DeWalt new replacement batteries for unless I go for aftermarket garbage. I have one good battery left that I switch between tools and since they still get the job done, I really don't want to upgrade and purchase new tools.
