- Friends Of Lupus Warriors is a South African non profit organisation that aims to create awareness about the illness and raise funds for education and medical care access.
Prof Mahmood Ally shared the below in his speech
They have a database of 500 to 600 patients
Many people don’t have access to specialist care to diagnose and treat the disease
If you get a diagnosis early the outcome is much better
lupus can be limiting in your daily activities, sitting by the sun itself Allan stimulate the autoimmune system to flare up the disease
Lupus can affect a variety of organs
100 lupus patients is equal a 100 different diseases
In south africa there’s only 60 to 80 rheumatologist serving the population.
Efforts like these to create awareness and educate people are what is needed to raise awareness
