15 years ago I stopped drinking and drugging! My life is still hard, but I don't go to jail anymore. I live on my own, pay my bills, people can depend on me, and I have some self respect now where as before I had none!

14 months sober triggered by one of your early videos. My life hasn’t changed. It is just absent of all of the negatives that I couldn’t see when I was drinking. Cost, health, relationship troubles, hangover, awkward situations and the Monday morning fear.
Try it for a month folks. That turns to 3 months and your brain starts to shift. It’s a very interesting experiment. I don’t call myself a non drinker. I just haven’t had a drink.

Right on Adam! Good on ya! Super happy for you! Been following you for prob 4 or so years, what a journey you have been on and it continues! :) I have been clean ond sober for 34 years and I continue to learn about ways to be a better person and have a happier and a more fulfilling life. :) I would also say the longer Im sober the quality of my relationships have improved, way beyond what I could have ever imagined (personally I knew so little about real love). Side benifit my entire family followed me into recovery from drugs and alcohol I never expected that, we never know who or how we might inspire others by making changes in our own lives. It's a great thing you sharing your story and parts of your journey here. Im sure it will help others that are struggling with these and other issues. Also got to say you look so much healthier brother happy for you and your bright future :). Congratulations on 3 years man!!

7 months here. No rock bottom hit or anything, but I had an Aha moment that made me reexamine my real reasons for why I was drinking. My sleep is better, better digestion, less stress.
Good on ya for 3 years. I could see myself doing that too

Stopped drinking alcohol 4 years ago in May. I never was a big drinker but found I always had the thought of drinking or not drinking on my mind. When I stopped I was surprised about how others reacted. Most people are not bothered at all and those who are probably need to assess their own relationship with alcohol. You’ve done well Adam coming from a past with a drinking culture. You are rightly proud of yourself. For me it is like the choice in made when I stopped putting milk in my coffee. If I do think shall I have a drink. I ask myself will this bring a benefit to my life. The answer is always no. Take care all

After a while your confidence grows and you are happier and less self conscious being sober. So karaoke and things is not such a social hurdle

Yup Adam !All true,i stopped 20 years ago , i was not like you,i was an ugly drunk ,it changed my life , wasn't easy, you have to ditch the drinking set who aren't interested any more with you being sober and much more but well worth it, my Father died at 53 of a heart attack ,he was a full time boozer and smoker , yes ! where there's alcohol in any sort of relationship there is shit ,it's damaging, folk split up when it would have worked without it ,it's the devil ! Like you it changed me , was hard at first going out with drinkers so i stopped going or drove there and when you have had enough ,when the crap starts ....go home.
I started racing bike after stopping, 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross among many races,i even got V50 record for 1 year only ,ha. I had a heart attack in 2012 treated with stents and got an auto inflammatory disorder now but seems sorted by a prof in Jimmys ,Leeds so all good !I have just watched your bike pack from San Diego, looked superb ! simples . Look forward to your next exploits ,take care, your an inspiration ❤

I drink mostly with my partner and mostly when kids are not around and not in the weeks… I am 40 now and I drink less and less. I don’t have any drinks at home. When I do I drink intentionally. I love your story because I don’t trust myself as well if I am drunk. So I do only if I am feeling save and if I am not feeling of compensating anything like having a bad working day or a fight with the kids or daily struggles… better it would be to stop at all. I do cone from a heavy drinking family and area in Germany where we drink a lot, I mean on daily basis. So it is somewhat a long way but I see in you and in myself the same experience. So thanks for all you share, have a great week

Brilliant. I'm glad you're feeling the benefit.
I've never drunk alcohol, and I don't really like social occasions so I can't really relate, but I do work with people who struggle with alcohol so I know its power.
I never fail to be inspired by my clients who are alcoholics and are standing strong and going alcohol free.
Oddly I also have a scar over my eye which I gained at 22, but in my case it was riding my bike too fast down a hill in Devon, and hitting a wall...
