South Indian marriages happen between athe's children or mama's children only when Gotra is different. Its not compulsory that every family had this kind of arrangements.
No gotra is considered only in Brahmins...in our community (vokkaliga) there's no concept of gotra and marriages take place only by family consent between brother and sister's children...not between sister's or brother's children who are considered as cousin brothers and sisters
1)Gotra system was also followed in south india
2)In south india cross cousin marriages happens but not parallel cousin marriages
3)Many people relate this point with cross cousin marriage with sanatan dharma let me give you the clarity that cross cousin marriages were allowed in sanatan dharma..
4)However cross cousin marriages are declining in south indian states too...reason was said in this vedio...

The marriage is only allowed if gothra is different and also it is not allowed between chachera and mousera cousins
In North Karnataka " Garland of money" is put on dead people after performing some rituals.
In North India. "Garland of money" is put on the groom. I was shocked when I saw this scene in a Hindi movie.

its true , that cross cousins marriages and cousin uncle marriage's are also effecting the offspring's in the form of mental disorders , several congenital heart disease's , I personally agree with that because in our family my cousins have married to there niece , now they are facing anomalies in there offspring's , abortions are taking place during the pregnancy.

In south without checking gothra marriages doesn’t happen. Whether it’s between cross cousin marriage or marriage between two unknown people gothras should not be same. Same like Arjuna and Subhadra.
I am from Bengal- we can’t marry far cousins..we call them brother and sister unlike south where they call there cousins parents as atte..(in law)

In South India people Marry cousins ofcourse but they consider gotras even Brahmins also as a North Indian am residing in South I've noticed this but once go back to history Krishna is cousin of Arjuna and then Subhadra also and Arjun married her this is what similar happens in South India b4 passing comments on then we'd know what actually history is and it's not appropriate to passing irrelevant comments on them

This can be traced back to Mahabharata where Arjuna married his cousin and Krishna's sister Subhadra.
It's not brother and sister marriage..
This is marriage between Cross cousins which is not wrong..And it doesn't happen in all South states... It happens in Tamilnadu, Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha and Maharashtra....

In north east cousine marrigae customary practice has been followed so not only South India many part of the country follow this practice in hindi belt mostly tribal people follows this tradition as well so not only south india entire pan india cousine marriage practice is followed we simply generalize the thing what we have seen in media but in reality if we go to remote ares of our country we found very different culutre, tradition, practices were followed which might look taboo for others
