  • Not normally a ready meal person but in the space of 5 minutes I had brought 3 from Asda normally the individual price would be £2.75 each but the deal was buy 3 for £7, a saving of £1.25
First one up to try was the Beef Lasagne, the picture on the box looked amazing if it came out looking like that I would be very happy, but something told me this was not going to be the case.
The cooking method I was going to use was the air fryer, as usual the only cooking methods mentioned was either conventional oven 30 minutes plus preheat or microwave for 5 minutes.
I didn't preheat the air fryer figuring it would be ready when it was ready. I allowed 13 minutes @200c adding some grated cheese at that point then a further 2 minutes @200c so a total cook time of 15 minutes.
I did check the internal temp with a meat temp gauge on the beef setting to make sure it was cooked through and the temperature shown 165c indicated this was the case.
The Lasagne didn't really look like what was shown on the front of the sleeve, but it actually tasted quite nice, it wasn't dry and had a good amount of Bechamel and Bolognese sauce the beef mince was quite tasty, as was the sheet of lasagne that topped it. It definitely needed the added cheese and with that on top it was a pretty good meal.
Where I would say it was let down was price, for a single serving £2.75 is just to much, even taking into account the buy 3 for £7 deal that still makes it £2.33 which is just about on the borderline of a good deal, by the time you buy garlic bread and other bits to go with it the price would start creeping up.
If this was £2, I would give it it a 8/10 but because its well over £2 I would have to give it a 7/10.
I thought I would add the overall cooking cost to this, this would probably apply to quite a few single serving ready meals that would take 15 minutes in the air fryer. My 3.5ltr air fryer is rated at 1.5KW or kilowatts making the electricity cost at 33p per kilowatt hour. The energy cost used to cook the Beef Lasagne in the air fryer for 15 minutes was approx 13p

To help lift out a hot tray, take a square of tinfoil folded 3 times to about 2 inches wide, place under the tray in the basket to use as a handle. For some reason, tinfoil doesn't get too hot in the air fryer?

Hi there, what size is your Air Fryer in Litres that you do your videos with. Dennis from Rotherham.

Hi Dennis, the Air Fryer I use is the 3.5litre Cosori, it's a little smaller than there normal one as my kitchen is quite compact so worktop space can be a bit of an issue, if you scroll through my earlier posts I actually done an unboxing of it. One of the good points of it is its square which I prefer to round 👍
