LOVED THIS TOUR! I grew up running around Ft. Worden & Ft. Casey and have always loved this stuff. My Dad used to tell stories off when he was in college in the 70s and how much more open the forts were. I always had trouble imagining this because the buildings are pretty darn open now. Thanks for another great tour, Chris!
2 movie's that were filmed at the fort were AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN w / Lou Gossett Jr. and Richard Gere & ENOUGH w / Jennifer Lopez. also part's of Officer and a Gentleman was filmed in Tacoma by old St. Regis paper mill.
You need to check out fort Harrison (goat Island) south of La Conner. The very north most battery to protect Puget sound. Built in the same era, smaller scale fort but very creepy.
One of my favorite places. My grandpa grew up in the port Townsend area so since the late 80s we've had reunions at the Fort. In a way it was kind of a childhood playground. As for ghost stories. I dont really have too many. Just some weird experiences up on the hill. As for exploring the bunkers at the night time. Technically you aren't allowed to. (Personal experiences with the rangers and a few years ago.... the police) Of the places on the Fort that burn any creepy memory in my mind it would have to be the harbor defense command post and the switchboard. Both are closed off these days (the harbor defense command post opens for tours sometimes during the summer). Back before 2004 you were able to get in there and there was rumors that back in the 80s and 90s people would go down there and do rituals. Not sure if it's true but it's a fun satanic panic story. Plus it was just really scary down there and usually if your flashlight was going to die..... it was in there
"The tunnels" are the spaces between the magazines. As with any explosives, they are stored in separate areas or magazines. In the event of an explosion, this keeps the entire thing from blowing up. The rails on the ceiling are to move the artillery around. Something that is fun to see there, the building they kept the zeppelins in, also the boxing scene in the movie was filmed. The hanger is being used as a theater now I believe. The zeppelins that were stored there were used over the water in places like Bremerton. There you can still find the large concrete block used for anchors on the beaches.
@@pine1 They are moving the ammo around. The guns were on the top and didn't move. What you think of as the "hallway" is the space between the rooms, nothing in there but air. There are individual rooms for storing the ammo . They still do this today when storing explosives. So if there is an accident it can be contained in a smaller area. Research how they store dynamite over the last hundred years. Its a pretty cool place, I live near it and the other two. There are three of them in the area that protected the entrance to the Sound and the military bases.
@@pine1 Well thank you, you sent me on the journey to find the maps of the bunkers. I can't wait till the heat goes away and I can go back with the maps in my hand. It will be so fun!!!
We had a family reunion there when I was 16. I actually lost my virginity there and then in the fort we did it again, apparently we gave the ghost there a show!
Do you have any videos about Port Townsend in general? I believe there are a lot of hauntings/sightings. There was a fire that burned down almost all of the Chinese area. Some sources claim it was an accident, and other claim it was racially motivated. There's also an underground section of Port Townsend. Some residents will claim it goes all the way to the water to smuggle people, others say it doesn't. I've never been able to find anything written about it. Also, I've always wondered if there's any evidence to the Jesuit priest hanging himself. I've never been able to find anything about it. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for all your work.
I am pretty sure, but not 100%, that the story of the priest is false. I can do a video on Port Townsend but I don't have anything up yet. Thank you for the support though!
State Parks does not own Ft Worden. They lease part of it from "Friends of Fort Worden". Before that it was owned my Port Townsend. A good friend of m one has worked for Fort Worden for years and is not the Lighthouse keeper at Point Wilson.

I love the jump scares!! Lol!! The second one in this video got me worse than the first...never stop! 😆 I love it! We all secretly love it. Lol!
Wow that last jump scare got me. I loved it. Hopefully you don't quit as I love a good scare.

The endicott fortifications at warden, Casey and flagler are a testament to architecture
You crack me up with the jump scares 😂🤣
I live in Port Townsend and we love visiting the tunnels and several other places on Fort Worden state park!
The Ghost Adventures crew did an episode at Manresa Castle too and it was awesome.
What houses in the NCO housing were in the oral stories I.e. the murder/suicidal and the fire tragedy?
I want to know about the switchback. I think it might be at Fort Flaggerly.

Is the ghost castle not available to stay in anymore? I can't find an option anywhere
Great video! I built a very small house in North Beach and I want to learn more about Ft. Worden. Can you recommend a book? Thank you.
My grandfather was stationed there during WWII.
Ok love going to the fort worden I've been here 22 years and it's not scary

@@aimeedanielson8398 thanks for the clarification!
@@PrettyGrittyTours The true story is more fascinating. Fort Worden is truly a zen and wonderful place!
Wow you are really smart
