    I’m coastguard volunteer so I hardly use Navionics and Windy. Those 2 apps are amazing tech. For Navily, like Savvy Navvy, no much use here in Wellington,New Zealand, but hopefully the community will be growing. Cool channel. Great content

      Hey thanks!
      Yeah, I was speaking to the guys at Navily just the other day about growing their community. They have some really sweet ideas coming up! Btw. Welling to Able Tasman…. Unforgettable!

    In addition to Predict wind, there is also Predict wind off shore, it enables you to down load grib files (also in free version). Really handy in coastal situations where you are without cell covearge for a day or two.

    intrestingly, as a dinghy cruiser I'm already using anchor, windy and navionics. good to know these are sound choices. navionics tide data is up to 45 minutes out where I live though - so that last point from the Bear is really true!

    ANCHOR ALARM APPS:
    1.If you set your anchoralarm App without having WiFi, be advised that your position gonna be pretty unprecise.
    2.Sitting in a bar ashore and after a couple drinks your mobile remote tells you that your boat is draging, you have to be pretty fast(and still fit) to jump in your dinghy, speed back to your boat, start the engine to avoid he worst.
    My advise: Give allways plenty chain (you payed for it) Go on reverse, fix a mark on shore and check if your position stays stable. Take mask and snorkel to check your anchor. This helps for a good sleep.😊💤

    Any suggestions for charging an ipad from 12v? All my regular USB sockets dont manage....

    • @SailHub
      @SailHub  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, try wiring a usb 3.1 (blue internals) a usb-c would be even better but you will need a new cable. Basically you need higher amps than the standard usb can provide for an iPad. My recommendation would be these guys - www.scanstrut.com/uk/marine/charge/usb
