Had considered getting my husband a subscription for this for Father's day, but had some serious doubts. This just solidified everything in one great summary. Thank you for your breakdown and honesty!!
Scentbird makes it extremely difficult to cancel a subscription. They hide the billing date, charge you early, and will not cancel an order even though it takes 5-6 days to actually ship. As a UX designer I was surprised at the lengths they went to to inhibit my ability to cancel the subscription. Furthermore, they act like once they charge you there’s just no way to stop the order. I cancelled the day they charged me, which was a day early, and it was in there view completely impossible to stop the order. You would think they were launching rockets not shipping cologne. It was seriously unbelievable. Bad UX and it was cleared they had mapped a path to deceive customers. Really really bad.
I actually decided against ordering from them, when I saw a thread of people talking about being sent the wrong frag. The tricky thing, is it was labeled correctly, but the scent was wrong. Even worse: imagine if the scent you got was awesome. Like imagine blind buying a fragrance, only to buy the bottle later, and it smells completely different. What's worse, is these people claim that when they tried to get through to customer service to find out what the scent actually was, they couldn't figure it out. So now you're sitting here with this mystery scent decant that you really like, but you'll never get to know what it was.
I appreciate how authentic and genuine you are with this , you didn't just bash them unnecessarly or praise them to high heaven like some others have 👍 And showing evidence why you didn't like it is , this is how it should be done. The gold standard on what this should be 👌 Great video mate 🙏
Authentic? He's never used the service. How's that "authentic"? I used it for a year and a half and NEVER had any of the issues he mentioned. Neither has anyone else here who actually used the service.
When you take into account all the costs associated with Scentbird, $14.95 isn't a crazy price. Apart from the juice they have to pay for the tubes, packaging, shipping, wages for those decanting, taxes, marketing costs etc. etc. Essentially Scentbird is a promotional company, fragrance houses send them their perfume for free in the hopes of selling full bottles afterwards. This is how Scentbird makes their money, they have tens of thousands of perfume fanatics, basically the perfect target market for any fragrance house. So when a new company launches, Scentbird will promote their perfume in exchange for free perfume and perhaps even a marketing fee (if they want to be in the newsletter). It's a clever business plan.
whenever you are buying something that is not in the original packaging, I'd always be afraid that they put a few drops of water in just to preserve their inventory.
I mainly got it to test scents before I buy them, I feel like its been worth it so I can figure out what I like, personally. Also currently, I've never had a problem with the decant sticking in the container. The nordstrom/sephora tip is a great one though. No bad experience overall.
I was thinking of the same thing but like he said, I could just go to my local perfume store and ask for some samples for free. Its the price of the subscription that put me off because I could get an entire perfume for the same price.
*Someone told me a couple of months ago that I should be careful with allowing companies to send me stuff for a review because it often comes with that kind of directions on how to advertise them and sometimes there's a lot of pressure and problems when you decide not to do what they want. I've watched the video twice and will be very careful now. Good to hear it from you.*
When I tried them a couple years ago, there was a serious issue with the quality of the fragrance. It was definitely diluted on several of the ones I received.
@@gilbertoflores7397 they've since added bigger names to their roster but I believe those ones also have a premium fee added to the monthly fee that a subscriber already pays
What I don't like about it is that the scent doesn't really last that long because it's so decanted. Wish you mentioned this as I'm not sure if it's just me or...
Cubaknow doesn't need to explain why. It's obvious that he's a crappy and vulgar reviewer who's desperate for views. Explaining himself would be redundant
I tried them years ago I had a horrible experience. My spray bottles never worked. Never got a spray that was in my fragrance scent I liked that I picked. They also kept charging me after I canceled without sending me anything so I had to change my card.
Although Ive never used Scentbird, when I first got into fragrances around this time last year, I started using Scentbox...which is pretty much the same thing...the have a better selection of Fragrances but you touched on the most important thing of all, which is the price! I actually had a premium subscription for $29.99/month where I was getting two frags per month...once I saw how cheap I could get full bottles of stuff for on ebay, I cancelled that subscription super fast....also just like with Scent Bird, Scent Box's atomizers are trash as well...they leak, their distribution is totally inconsistent, , and its hard to judge how much of a fragrance you need to spray because you never get a full spray of juice with them....I think those sites are designed to prey on people who are ignorant to fragrances that want to get into them just like me when I initially signed up for it
Bro you saved me last minute. I had signed up with scentbird and gave them my credit card info and everything but then I thought "i feel like I can get a discount code for this from a youtuber." I just searched up scentbird on TH-cam and your video was one of the first videos that popped up. I then noticed a lot of other people were having the same problems and saying not to buy scentbird so I just clicked off their page. Much appreciated, man
Thank you for this review. So glad I actually opened it right before clicking the YES button on ScentBird subscription page. You totally changed my mind and I will be glad to spread that info to friends alike. I already tried a similar perfume service of Oakcha, just to discover they DO NOT publish non 5 stars honest testimonials on their site, nor answer the question "why" in Customer Service department. What you described here is a pretty much same trap organized by ignorant but aggressive marketing. Buyers Beware!
This is why people watch you...You tell it like it is and you don't care what companies think. You care more about the truth and your opinion than a bit of cash or hype. Glad to have you back, man.
I was just about to subscribe to ScentBird; but this video, as well as all the negative experiences people listed in the comments, I've changed my mind. Thank you.
Im a female customer in canada and i keep receiving confessions of a rebel, no repeats yet , dolce , solar. Im not experienced in perfume .. but as someone whos finding my sent this type of subscription has been helpful. No issues with the tubes they come in, the atomizers all spray fine. Im not disagreeing with you at all but thats been my experience and i appreciate this honest video to help me see if its really worth it.
I just got my first one. I wonder if it's actually watered down. I am probably going to run out pretty quickly but I assume they want me to order several bottles per month. I will try it for a couple more months but I am not too excited about it.
I know this is an old video, but I used scent bird for three months, I got what I ordered, but everything I got smelled really cheap. They all had that powdery, mature woman scent to them. My atomizer also didn't atomize. It just sputtered out fragrance, so I couldn't use that at all
Totally appreciate you shedding light on this. I have been a scentbird customer for at least 2 years now and I recently received my cologn and the bottle had leaked and it was only less than half in the bottle. I reached out to them to get a replacement or refund and they never got back. I have not renewed my subscription eversince and this video has cemented my decision not to do so. Thank you. Not to mention their late package deliveries.
I had an issue with Scentbird. Got charged for July but never received my scent. The roll on I got in June, which I never ordered, is defective. Tried to contact them and they never replied. So...cancelled the card they had on file and moved on. I should've known they were shady when I couldn't find a contact number.
Man, I just signed up for them a few days ago. My package is supposed to get here tomorrow, hopefully it shows up. Even if it does, I may go ahead and try to cancel. Ugggh, I wish I had found this video sooner.
Scentbird has never given me any issues, has always been quick and on time with their shipments. The nearest sephora or nordstrom to me is nearly an hour away since I live in a rural area. I get your points though.
I like that I don't have to spend over $100 for something I might not like. I'm gonna try about 6 of em to get an idea of what colognes I like. The first one I got was pretty great. It did take long to arrive tho probly like 3 weeks and the package tracking was not working accurately.
I had Scentbird for years but mostly because it was super difficult to cancel. What I hated most about it is the scents I put in my queue or had even received in the past from them would go "unavailable" CONSTANTLY. To the point where I realized that a lot of what the website says they currently have at any given moment is actually a lie.
You are so right, They don't have customer support.they charge twice and the fragrances come so low. I saw your video before purchased it but I ended buying the subscription.Bad experience. You are so genuine and down to earth.
You are so right!!! I cancelled mine after a month or so when I saw that they didn’t have a good collection. And it was so not worth $15. I tell all my friends and family when they asked me about to not sign up because they are not worth it. I actually tell them about Sephora and Nordstrom too.
So informative. I’ve been considering scent bird for a while but now I’m just going to plan a couple of trips to Sephora/Nordstrom to stock up on samples😂
I ordered March 13th and entered a promo code for 5$ off. It just shipped April 3rd. They charged me full price. It's not going to be here until April 8th. I tried getting in contact with them but their system sucks and they won't respond.

I should have done more research BEFORE I signed up for Scent Bird - The advertise that you can get Tom Ford and Gucci but what they don't tell you is that those are premium scents and they cost $5 to $15 extra on top of the monthly fee ! Also, there was only ONE Tom Ford scent at the time I singed up - unacceptable !

I feel so bad for my daughter who bought scentbird for me for Christmas. It was Christmas when I chose my likes and as of Jan 25 there is no tracking number etc. no phone to reach them.. and no response to multiple emails. I’ve been a member to Basenotes for about 6 years and the first time I saw the advert for “scentbird” I immediately thought it was a ripoff. Before I really got into juices, I only bought designer fragrances bc that was all I knew. It took me really having to read and get into juices to know about niches, now I’m only into niche fragrances (Creed,Bond no.9, Amouage, etc) so I believe anyone who is already into juices will feel the same way. It’s because we have a deeper knowledge I believe. First time I seen your video but I like it and will prob subscribe.
@@pereiraplaza222 still feel the same but I appreciate both. Niche fragrances are definitely for a more defined nose or someone who likes different stuff.
Unless you go to a fragrance store and smell every fragrance until you find it? 🤔
@@rallitas11q Yeah because typically fragrance stores have literally every fragrance possibility ever, right
I appreciate how authentic and genuine you are with this , you didn't just bash them unnecessarly or praise them to high heaven like some others have 👍
And showing evidence why you didn't like it is , this is how it should be done. The gold standard on what this should be 👌
Great video mate 🙏
I've had none of these problems. I am very happy with scentbird!
It's a clever business plan.
ok but 14.95 is a terrible price when u can go to sephora and get the same thing for free
I've always liked getting samples for $7 then try to get a travel size spray of the ones I like for around $30
whenever you are buying something that is not in the original packaging, I'd always be afraid that they put a few drops of water in just to preserve their inventory.
Same…every fragrance I got some Scentbird smelled a little weak or sour, despite me trying different kinds of scent profiles.
I mainly got it to test scents before I buy them, I feel like its been worth it so I can figure out what I like, personally.
Also currently, I've never had a problem with the decant sticking in the container.
The nordstrom/sephora tip is a great one though.
No bad experience overall.
Nah fr cause i don’t wanna buy a 200$ fragrance and I don’t like it so that’s why I use scentbird because it’s kinda like a sample
I loooove your reviews, Agnes
When I tried them a couple years ago, there was a serious issue with the quality of the fragrance. It was definitely diluted on several of the ones I received.
I never noticed until I recently compared it to my aventus, and then the Layton.
@@MrEddyedr that’s how I noticed too. I had suspicions so I ordered a fragrance I already owned and the difference was clear.
@@MrEddyedr do they offer Parfums de Marley? Or creed? I thought the barley had any niche.
@@gilbertoflores7397 they have Layton and Pegasus, they did hace Aventus for a little bit, managed to get some from them.
@@gilbertoflores7397 they've since added bigger names to their roster but I believe those ones also have a premium fee added to the monthly fee that a subscriber already pays
I don't think Sephora gives perfume samples any longer.
What I don't like about it is that the scent doesn't really last that long because it's so decanted. Wish you mentioned this as I'm not sure if it's just me or...
I wonder how long it will be before Scentbird send you an email now lol, or try to take down the video

Props to you for not only keeping it real and authentic, but also exposing how the game is played.
I tried them years ago I had a horrible experience. My spray bottles never worked. Never got a spray that was in my fragrance scent I liked that I picked. They also kept charging me after I canceled without sending me anything so I had to change my card.
I got a gift subscription and the first cologne I received took forever to get and the cologne doesn’t smell anything like the cologne I ordered.
You're the most legit fragrance TH-camr bruh.
Got a scentbird ad mid-video that hit all of the talking points you mentioned lmaooo
Although Ive never used Scentbird, when I first got into fragrances around this time last year, I started using Scentbox...which is pretty much the same thing...the have a better selection of Fragrances but you touched on the most important thing of all, which is the price! I actually had a premium subscription for $29.99/month where I was getting two frags per month...once I saw how cheap I could get full bottles of stuff for on ebay, I cancelled that subscription super fast....also just like with Scent Bird, Scent Box's atomizers are trash as well...they leak, their distribution is totally inconsistent, , and its hard to judge how much of a fragrance you need to spray because you never get a full spray of juice with them....I think those sites are designed to prey on people who are ignorant to fragrances that want to get into them just like me when I initially signed up for it
Leaking atomisers is a killer for me. Leaking bottles = loss of all credibility. Atomisers are cheap, there is zero reason to sell leaky ones
*Yay! There it is :) Such subscription services aren't for me. Great video! :)*
I was just about to subscribe to ScentBird; but this video, as well as all the negative experiences people listed in the comments, I've changed my mind. Thank you.
2021- This is everything! Thank you so much for this video sir.. I was just about to hit the payment button on scentbird. Glad I didnt!
I do on another note thing I have been charged double or more than I should be because it's like 30 bucks for my 3 pack of samples
Great breakdowns.video still holds up in 2021
I just got my first one. I wonder if it's actually watered down. I am probably going to run out pretty quickly but I assume they want me to order several bottles per month. I will try it for a couple more months but I am not too excited about it.
You forgot one aspect, it takes the stress of going out and shopping. I really enjoy not having to think about it much.
The company just corrected their name; now it's Scambird.
Why😂?
what! don't tell me that lol I just signed up
Their scent selection you listed really shocked me. Glad I didn't get scammed into this service when I started my collection.
We need more videos like this in the community.
I had an issue with Scentbird. Got charged for July but never received my scent. The roll on I got in June, which I never ordered, is defective. Tried to contact them and they never replied. So...cancelled the card they had on file and moved on. I should've known they were shady when I couldn't find a contact number.
How do I cancel my subscription? 😫 I have tried to look for a number but I can't find it...
Andrew S try the perfumed court for small samples then just buy a full size of the ones you like.
I have never had a problem with them. I get fragrances I could never afford, like Amouage and such. I would never buy regular fragrances.
I like that I don't have to spend over $100 for something I might not like. I'm gonna try about 6 of em to get an idea of what colognes I like. The first one I got was pretty great. It did take long to arrive tho probly like 3 weeks and the package tracking was not working accurately.
Well, can't say he didn't warn u....
Isnt it 3 samples per months for $15 what a great deal and over 100 sprays but could've neen at least 200 sprays better
Have you tried dossier?
@@carlisa. oh yeah have a ton of those!
I was about to try it out, but already talked myself out of it by the time I made it to checkout. This video just completely shut the door for me. 😂😂
$100? You have 171k subs and they only offered $100? What an insult. SMH.

Stuff like this is why I place a lot of trust in your recommendations. Thanks for keeping it real. I was on the fence about Scentbird. That being said, I plan on purchasing from Fragrance Decant Boutique soon thanks to your positive recommendation
Thank you so much for this! I just recently became a fan of your channel. And I signed up for scentbird just minutes before watching this video! 🤦🏻♂️ ugh! I’m cancelling immediately!!
I feel so bad for my daughter who bought scentbird for me for Christmas. It was Christmas when I chose my likes and as of Jan 25 there is no tracking number etc. no phone to reach them.. and no response to multiple emails. I give up .. obviously any regular customer doesn’t get anything it’s just the influensters who get it. Now I have read the bad reviews and I’m horrified my daughter got taken by scentbird. So sad ...
rhonda blackburn I’ve gotten multiples of my fragrances and always get responded to...not sure how me and the few people I know always get responses yet you guys don’t?
Never had any issue.. all my orders reaching in time as per my likes and all payment in order. I think their customer service department has been swamped as they experienced hyper growth but things are getting straighten up. This is a great innovative service, don’t jump to conclusions based on a disgruntled influencer video
Almost signed up tonight. Thank you so much for such a thorough, honest review!
Burned 3 times, twice they sent me fragrances that were not the true fragrance (incorrectly labeled) and also never received my fragrance back in August. Eff them.
Just signed up to try some new fragrances. But I’m only choosing $300-$400 bottles in the niche category.
Thank you. I’m a current and brand new subscriber which I how and why I discovered you. Being that I’ve learned so much in such a short period of time, I’m gonna trust you and immediately cancel my subscription. Hope they don’t double charge me for next month’s order!🤣
This is amazing! Thanks Ash, I have considered them a couple of times but they had just blah frags! Thanks again for putting this out there.

How are you doing now 2 years later?
@@pereiraplaza222 still feel the same but I appreciate both. Niche fragrances are definitely for a more defined nose or someone who likes different stuff. The designer juices are great as a crowd pleaser as most designer fragrances will be liked by the masses or mass-appealing. They both have their place for sure.
I tried Sentbird once and i cant recall the fragrence now because its been awhile but i do remember it smelled great but when i was to receive my second scent the following month i never received it and it was at that moment that i quit them and haven't looked back
Who else got a Scentbird ad right before the video?

I tried them after a recommendation from Antonio Centano of Real Men,Real Style on TH-cam. Immediately ran into problems, tried contacting them with no response or excuses. I finally appealed to Antonio, thru his TH-cam site and he got things straightened out for me..( a good man with integrity!)

I had no idea that Sephora and Macy's would give out samples upon request... Gotta try this out myself next time!
you're saying per bottle but don't scent bird send multiple fragrances instead of 1 bottle for the same amount or a few dollars more?
