  • In this video, we cover the building and use of the Yenko Camaro and Hemi Challenger in 2 Fast 2 Furious.
    Most people don't know that the original ending of this movie was changed about mid-way through the movie. The NEW ending was proposed by one of the Picture Car guys made a suggestion to the Director, John Singleton.

    A video per week is perfectly fine. It's all about quality over quantity. One of the better things which came from both movies you worked on is the fact we in the car communities are still quoting lines. Can't say the same for _Tokyo Drift_ and onward as they lack the same charm.

      Perfectly said! The amount of quotes we car guys got from first two movies is just incredible. They're so quotable, even for non-car related stuff. Some of Han's lines from Tokyo Drift were also memorable but nowhere near as iconic as first two.

    • @gzuzsavz
      @gzuzsavz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ..movies in general have become less quotable. it's interesting..i can quote huge portions of Titanic Twister, Dirty Harry & more..but newer movies, though i may like them..quotes are harder to recall & i deffo won't watch them once a year for 20+ years, lol.

    • @ThaMythbuster
      @ThaMythbuster 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You might not believe this but doing it in CGI often takes almost as much time as setting it up for real. Where I work, we make nautical simulators. Just to give you an example... My latest project is 3d modeling a San Francisco pier for an oil company where big tanker ships can dock.. It's a big pier, about 2 kilometers. This has taken 4 weeks to model so far and it's not even close to the CGI-level used in movies, and this doesn't need to be rendered(which takes ages) because it's done in real time like a videogame.

    • @EsenbekAliev_
      @EsenbekAliev_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ThaMythbuster I was just making fun of how modern movies are made, especially FF series. Seeing how much effort, design, preparation etc involved in early movies vs what they do know just basically next to green screen and monitor.. all CGI nowadays... just gotta appreciate old movies

    • @gzuzsavz
      @gzuzsavz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i appreciate the old school movie making and CGI.
      so much is done now that'd be impossible to do right w/o cgi..like the new Midway movie, for an eg.
      and ofc..how things were done is LiT, like 2f2F here..minimal cgi..
      the "eject-o seat-o, cuz!" scene & nm else, lol.

    I know what happened to one of the Challengers, around 2005. RTM productions procured it, the one Tyreese crashed into the SUV, for the Powerblock shoe Muscle Car. The host, Lou, went on, with help from Year One, to do a complete restomod build on it, in the back half of season 1, and through Season 2.
    After that, it hung around the shop for a bit, and was eventually set as a prize in one of their giveaways, or auctioned off, by the company, I forget which, as this was about 15 years ago.
    Project Limelight was the name given on the show.
    Just thought y'all might find that interesting.

    It was actually this movie when I was a kid that introduced me to the Yanko Camaro the Yanko name, was from a guy who owns a dealership named Don Yanko that he makes custom Camaro package to order using the central office production order AKA Copo

    • @Thumper68
      @Thumper68 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Actually it was Don and Frank Yenko and at first he was swapping in 427s at his dealership removing 396 engines. It was later on he was able to order them with the 427 using the central office production order “COPO” option. By 1969 Chevrolet finally partnered with Yenko making the cars a Chevrolet option not just his dealership option. There was also yenko nova, chevelle, corvair, and the rare corvettes as well.

    One of the stunt Challengers was rebuilt on Powerblock when that was a thing.

    I think you did a promo for 2F2F that was played in the 2wenty series that played before movies started in Regal Cinemas theaters. I remember you talking about how you created the paint for the cars. Another random thought was the Ferrari where Roman punched the window to get the package, maybe discuss that scene a little bit more in depth as you had touched on it with the Saleen Mustang video, especially the Paul Walker backwards driving scene. Keep churning out F&F videos! Definitely the best channel I've subscribed to in a long time 🤙

    These videos are really cool! I love the old Fast and Furious movies and find it very interesting how the cars were obtained and how the stunts were done.

    When Paul Walker said the Yenko can snap a speedo in about 5 seconds flat, he isn't lying.

      Because probably has one of the best engines that came out in GM either the iron 427 or the aluminum 427 either way they’re both strong engines and a light body like the Camaro

    I love that background music you use with the very "surf style" guitar.
    Gotta say, the Camaro looks better than I remembered. I had stopped paying attention to '69s back in the mid-'00s because it seemed like they got way too common.

    Thanks for this great video Craig! Can you dedicate some vids to talk about car culture? You've already talked about how the Fast frachise was done with street racing because of the bean counters but isn't there something more to it? I mean, wasn't that because the 90-2000's car culture saw it's end?

    I think one of challengers was on powerblock tv's muscle car show, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
