      @Alex Pokrandt if the Jedi didn’t follow those orders, they would have been declared enemies of the republic most likely.

      @Lokabrenna KOTOR lore has recently been deemed canon by Lucasfilm (January 2020), so the Jedi’s genocide of the Sith species is therefore canon now

    • @midgetydeath
      @midgetydeath 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      More than that. The Sith at this time were also disgusted by Naga Sadow and his creations and such. The Jedi and Republic didn't try genocide because of one leader with a bunch of magical pets he controlled. They did it themselves. Quite the difference and it severely scarred the Sith culturally and snowballed into what the Sith became. To the point their constant attempts to conquer the Republic (they were fine co-existing until Sadow convinced them the Republic was going to invade) and exterminate the Jedi are just because the Sith believe those things must be achieved or they'll be exterminated. Which the Republic and Jedi happily justify again and again by doing exactly that.

      @@midgetydeath Very true. Also the Jedi preached that the Dark Side is bad when in truth it is a natural part of the force as the Light Side. While you cannot use both the Dark and Light together as one Force, you can however us the Dark Side sparingly in controlled bursts. The reason being is that the Dark Side doesn’t not Give Power, but rather Reveals the power that is within a person to warp their environment. The problem or in truth the Responsibility, that comes with the Dark Side is that it will test and bring out the person that you are from within. It only by accepting your flaws but embracing the good that is within you, that you can use the negative emotions to aid you in reshaping reality or the Force, without allowing the Force reshaping you and overly depend on it to tell you what you should be.(Which has been the misfortune of most Force-Welders of the Sith because they abuse the Dark Side, either by embracing and becoming content with their own imperfects and forge themselves into tools of great burden upon on reality as in the case of Palpatine or they abuse it by formulating it into a Psychological Crutch like Anakin, Dooku (to an extent) and Maul for which they view the DS as the only solution to their “Self-Perceived” weakness, relying on the DS to give them power that they already processed! in The Light by contrast (When taken to the extreme by the Jedi) forces you to be fake and reject the person that you are, and thus destroying the parts that make you human. Balance involves see the benefits of both sides of the Force, without being overly restrained by teaching and philosophy.

      @Lokabrenna it is not a fanon myth it is an old EU fact, this is what used to be true before disney decanonised everything. Just because it doesn't fit with your "heroic jedi" myth doesn't mean it's fake

    • @revanruler6404
      @revanruler6404 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Lokabrenna even if what you said is true, cultural genocide is still wrong and the jedi definitely killed a bunch of innocents (also if bioware said it and it is officially part of the EU then it is the truth whether you like it or not you can't just ignore parts of the old EU when it suits unless you mean that in your headcanon there was no genocide which is fine since headcanon can be whatever you want)

      Peace according to whom? Not to the outer rim suffered alot while core worlds were enriched. Heck they abandoned all their other temples so they would only stay with the central power of the republic. Jedi thinks peace is lack of physical violence but won't or are not able teach compassion or wisdom to others due to them being too detached. They only cover the symptoms of issues but never reach the core of conflicts. The kaleesh and battle of Gilderaan are prime examples.

    • @stephenjenkins7971

      @@Spartan3D213 Uh, peace is peace. The Outer Rim where the Republic existed was at peace too. Regardless of other social issues, there was peace. Period. End of story.
      What, do you expect the Jedi to be Gods or something? Why does it fall to the Jedi to solve every galactic issue lest they be portrayed as arrogant idiots? They already pull their weight by maintaining galactic peace with only ten's of thousands of Jedi in a freaking GALAXY. What, do you expect them to end slavery? Solve poverty? Stop racism?
      How exactly would they even be able to do anything without Republic support? They don't have a navy or army outside of themselves. Like, Jesus dude. Have some perspective. They're ludicrously successful for what they are.

      @@stephenjenkins7971 they had an army and navy by themselves and could've governed with Jedi lords as watchmen, whom themselves were the final stand of the Jedi/republic to begin with. most of their problems happened cause they were too tied with the republic while they've should've been separated since the pro human cult invaded it to begin with and become 3rd party that helped any government if they wished, not tied down by a single Senate. Not to mention their rules themselves restricted their numbers as well with the whole age thing they didn't have until after Ruusan reformation. I only put those expections on them cause they made themselves out to be that way, and many Jedi prior to Geonosis may have thought so too. As for peace, I view the Jedi as the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil kind of group that won't do anything about the evil unless it's directly infront of them, got this from dookus backstory since his padawan years.

    Can we take a moment to talk about "Legends of the Lasat" episode from Rebels?!! "Legends of the Lasat" is such a superior episode to most of the series. From the music to the lore all the way down to the camera shots. The shot of the Tie Pilot in first person perspective flying towards the maelstrom with the violin orchestra is THE BEST SCENE in all of Rebels! Possibly in all of animated Star Wars!

    Meanwhile, the Sith were at it again, about to commit another invasion. Lead by the Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow, he promised to conquer the Republic by any means necessary.
    He gathered his fanatical Sith lords, and carved through the outer rim worlds, taking it for themselves. When the local Republic garrisons responded, they were massacred by half a million Sith.
    Sadow purged all of his conquered territory of non-Sith, civilians and Jedi alike, along with their wives and children. When news of the massacre reached the Chancellor, Pultimo. Went. Mad.
    He set course for Sith territory, backed by 12 Jedi legions, and they started killing every Sith they could find. No mercy was shown, no quarter given. Pultimo would settle for nothing less .... than the complete genocide of the Sith.

      This is Legends though some of Tales of The Jedi might be part of the Disney Timeline via "The Qel-Droma Epics." I say might because, in-universe, it's debated whether the wars against both Naga Sadow and Exar Kun actually happened, or if they were fables...

    The Sith back then accepted peace and tranquility and the Light Side just as readily as passion and violence and the Dark Side. Think of it as the difference between a calm, technical warrior and a passionate, aggressive warrior. Both are strong and so both are accepted. After the champions of the Light Side tried to genocide them, the Sith decided fuck the Light Side and determined that it is evil. Literally. They genuinely believe the Light Side betrayed them and is outright evil.

      @Lokabrenna For real dude, it’s dumbfounding. This way of thinking kinda reminds me of how sports fans always expect the best player on their team to play well and then get all mad at them on the rare night they don’t play well. For crying out loud, this person is the best player on the team, why does he/she get all the criticism in the world for a few bad games while the teammates who aren’t as good only get like 1/4 of the criticism? They probably use that same logic with flawed heroes cuz it’s like “you’re a hero, you don’t get to be flawed, we should be able to take for granted the fact that you’re never gonna have an off-day”

    Sometimes the Jedi and the Republic make their own enemies, and no doubt that many within the Senate and Jedi Council should have taken actions to truly destroy the Sith. This singular act of genocide will haunt the Galaxy for thousands of years and one day they will rule the Galaxy with an iron fist.

      The Jedi were content to beat down and exile them. The Republic wanted them wiped out of existence. The Jedi followed through with a compromise of sorts and forgot about them. The Sith never forgave either for it.

    Thank you for this video, I'm glad you mentioned the 'Stygian Caldera' because I always wondered what was keeping the Sith from the rest of the galaxy. What keeps the Republic from discovering the 12 dead worlds the True Sith destroyed? In the Revan novel it mentions that all 12 worlds T3 pulled from the Nathema database were worlds discovered by the republic, so I've always wondered that.

  • @vocalcalibration8033

    I think both the Sith and Jedi were very flawed groups. While, yes, the sith were murdering psychopaths who'd happily genocide their own race if it meant they'd become more powerful, the Jedi's more passive and unambitious ways often resulted in them becoming stagnant, to comfortable in their own traditions and confident in their own righteousness to ever work towards improving. When they did take action it was to protect the status quo, which could sometimes lead them to extremes such as attempted genocide. This near sedentary nature is what lead to the jedi orders destruction at the hands of papa Palps.
    Forgoing all attachments and attempting to deaden their emotions probably didn't help with any of the above either. It's one way they should have followed the siths lead, afterall if the force is the very essence of life itself and emotion is a part of it than any reasonable force user should embrace that, without letting it control them.
    And of course the irrational fear of the darkside the jedi had, refusing to even study the surface level elements of it, left them very ill prepared for the return of the sith.
    If I had to choose one I'd obviously pick the jedi, since despite their flaws they are a peaceful group, it can't be denied there are certain things they could have learned from their ideologies.
