    I'm watching the series one episode at a time because I'm watching it with family, so I appreciate the one at a time recaps. Also appreciate that you're knowledgeable about the games. I'm not a big lorehead but I do like it when weapons or products from the game show up. There's a lot of interesting detail. So please do continue. Maybe see if you can call a gable a slopey boy or have a little rant about a foundation lacking underpinnings, the one about the arm jets didn't do it for me ;)

      I’m Jeff from The MCU’S Bleeding Edge YT Channel/ Podcast and I’m actually here to watch and listen to this fine fellow TH-camrs Ep 2 breakdown cause we only review tv series in a weekly episodical form regardless of how they come out. So I’m listening to this for prep, I have played the games a little, we don’t do this style with our recaps we actually do all our shows live and we have guests on the shows so it’s more of a discussion based format make sense? If you enjoy the weekly ep deal and the series please, with all proper respect intended since I’m another creators CS, check out one of our ep recaps sometime, totally different format with people just talking not high end like this lol. We do EP 2 Sat at 8pm EST Ep 3 next Friday at 9:35PM EST.

    I believe CCCP is Cyrillic for Soviet Union. The Russian hockey teams always had that on their jerseys.

      @holmj12 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It also had the hammer and sickle which symbol was on the Soviet Union flag. 2077 when the bombing occured is supposed to be similar to real life 1960s which the USSR/CCCP existed during that time.

    "It takes more than a 10mm pistol to kill a yao guai..."
    THANK YOU!!
    In Fallout 1, shooting an enemy in the eye (albeit using VATS) does a lot more damage than targeting any other body part. In my head canon I'm calling the kill shot just to the north of the eye an homage to FO1.
    I, too, don't know what to make of Maximus at this point (and I'm only up to episode 5 at this point). The best answer I can think - and if I'm right, this was some amazing writing - is that each of the three protagonists were written for the three playstyles of good, neutral, and evil - with Maximus being the neutral; some sense of nobility but also out for himself and willing to make questionable moral decisions in order to cut corners.
    By the way, have you seen Tim Cain's video after he attended the premier? He pointed out how some of the extras (whom he later found out were players of the game) had the same posture of random NPCs in the first FO game. Tim said he asked the director about this and it wasn't his intention. So he chose to believe the extras did that as tribute to the game.

      I totally agree. His performances in The Hateful Eight and Invincible convinced me that he should at least get to voice The Joker in animation.
      After seeing this, I can totally see him as a live action Joker, southern accent and all. A southernized Joker could be really interesting.
      Certainly would be better than Jared Leto or whatever that nonsense was in the deleted scene from The Batman.with the Saltburn guy.

    Hey TNG, check out the size of the body on the gurney at 1:54. Perhaps that's a super mutant? Also that syringe he saved his dog from getting injected could be FEV. This might be someplace like west tech but on the west side of the us. The show never tells you where this place actually is even in future episodes so no worries I'm not spoiling anything.

    don't play video games but I like this show. What I don't get is the time frame. It's supposed to start in 2077 but it looks like the 1950s but without segregation.
    Was the stuff at the lab at the beginning of episode 2 supposed to be in 2077? How are the guy & the dog alive 200 and some odd years later?
    I get that Walton Goggins character started as the human cowboy at the party and radiation made him a ghoul, but how is he alive 200 years later? Do ghouls not die??
    Are the vaults all connected? Clearly 32 and 33 were somehow. Why is it such a big deal to travel between them? You would think they would encourage visitation with other vaults to avoid inbreeding.

    • @mehtarelingolien
      @mehtarelingolien 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Fallout universe is a parallel universe.
      The dog is not 200+ years old, but Cooper Howard is, because he is a ghoul. The radiation burned his skin, but otherwise rendered him immortal(ish).
      No, the vaults are not all connected. As for inbreeding..... if you look up vault lore, not all vaults were concerned with longevity of any kind.

    • @calebmahoney2448
      @calebmahoney2448 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The bombs dropped in the 60’s I believe so everything that happens in our world after that never happens in fallout.
      Ghouls can live a long time but most of the time they lose out to the bloodlust urge and become what they call feral which is basically a zombie.
      The doctor and dog exist in whatever present day is in the tv show and they didn’t live longer than a normal human in the real world.
      As for the vaults they were actually all experiments. So one vaults might have tried to survive on a vegetarian diet, one vault could specialize in weapons, another one could focus on religion. To my knowledge in the games we’ve never seen 2 vaults connected before but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some out there for a specific experiment. The vaults were also made with monitoring systems, so everything that happens inside them is documented. They weren’t actually designed with the intention of saving everyone inside them.
      Remember in the fallout universe there’s not actually any good faction. Everyone has nefarious reasons for doing what they do. And vault-tec was no different.

    • @TNG76
      @TNG76  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So the fallout timeline pretty much follows ours up until a certain date, war of independence happens, ww2 etc etc. The bombs dropped in October 2077, the ghoul is still alive because, well he's become a ghoul which is basically a human who's been exposed to radiation and turned into such. There's loads of them in the fallout universe but not everyone turns into a ghoul, some straight up just die. Now in terms of the 50s/60s thing yet the technology is futuristic it's to do with the invention of the microchip iirc, in the fallout universe they never invented it

    • @calebmahoney2448
      @calebmahoney2448 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep I messed my timeline up. The 50’s and 60’s is when the timeline changes because of a technology piece and the bombs drop in 2077. My mistake on that.

    • @keithcummings3260
      @keithcummings3260 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The style is referred to as retro-futuristic. As others mention, it's an alternate timeline that follows America up to the 50s but then remains "stuck" there, where mankind harnesses fusion energy for technological advancement. The developers of the first Fallout game liked the 50's aesthetic and heavily incorporated it into the style. The titles that came after respected and amplified that design decision.
