Obrigada por tudo, Liz! I learned 5 years ago that I'm half Madeiran and I was encouraged by your videos to commit to learning Portuguese. One of the things I do is to write word lists, sentences, and short stories in a 9x6" notebook, then I read them for comprehension and pronounciation. I make it a point to read each evening before bed and it's helped a lot. Plus, my dogs love it!

I am in the Philippines at the moment but back home in Portugal soon, working on my house. I am keen to get my D7 so I can get on the path to citizenship. My provincial capital city is Coimbra. I am very proud of the place I am in love with Portugal. Anyway, on my channel, you will see numerous videos about Coimbra, one in particular one of me in front of Coimbra A station, extatic to be back. Another is a student in full academy gear. My daughter went to university in Oxford and now lives there. It is extremely pleasant, as I always say, but it isn't a patch on Coimbra. So anyway, it seems to me that it would be great to remake the Inspector Morse series there. Morse has so much of the saudade about him and the vibe of Coimbra and the university would be amazing. I think it would end up dubbed back to English. Some things would have to be changed eg lots of fado and less opera. It would be epic. So I hope you can see where this is going. There is only one person who could pull it off, YOU.

how much work would it take to transition from brazilian portuguese to european portuguese? I would say i'm fairly comfortable or intermediate with Brazilian.

It would be easy, try to focus on pronunciation and vocabulary :)

There are some diferences somewhat similar with the situation between US and British English and the main issue will be pronunciation. Pronunciation, some vocabulary and you are almost set to go. From a practical pov you are lucky that the Portuguese have an easier time with Brazilian Portuguese than the opposite. You will be easily understood but the opposite at the beginning probably not so much as Portuguese pronunciation is faster and time stressed (some letters or sounds disappear).
