Hi pals - I love Sonoma! What do you make of it…? Some controversial new features.. in macOS this year...📣 www.bettercreating.com/iosdesignpack 👈 + You can grab my iOS, iPad Icon & Covers Pack here!
@@BetterCreating you got an audio mishap going on here! Very easy to miss. Somehow you've managed to put your Voice Over in "reverse phase" in the left and right output channels, making the sound either a little uncanny for those listening in stereo or just totally canceled out for those listening in mono. You can try this by selecting the "Play stereo sound as mono" from the Accessibility setting's Audio section.
I've been putting off upgrading from Monterey for some time, but as an iOS developer, I know have to upgrade. I just got a new iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro. I have a drawing app that I want to add some of the new features of the pencil pro to. In order to do that, I have to be running on Sonoma. Multiple reports of large USB drives becoming unusable with Sonoma has scared me off. Some workarounds amazingly are to fix the drive in Windows. After more reading, it seems one or more of these issues have been fixed, there are security features that can be tweaked, and/or you just need to wait for the OS to finish indexing, which can take a long time on large drives. So I'll be trying Sonoma out soon.
Well I’ve upgraded to Sonoma on the same model and found it to be good - personally really like the features allowing for a clean desktop and widgets on screen - quite helpful. But I don’t think it hurts to move to it. Next one coming soon thou I suspect !
@@BetterCreating yeah the 14.0 release plagued a lot of people was all over Reddit. Thankfully only had less than 5 users upgrade before was able to remove it from their stores at work.
If I'm not mistaken, was there a bit of cheeky voice over work beginning at about 11:43? Hmmm? I felt the audio quality shift was weird until you got to the bit about creating your own voice! Sneaky business aside, another great video. The monochromatic widgets was worth the watch all by itself. That has been driving me crazy! Love the ability to make them always monochrome.
hah -yea - I think I had the mic in a strange place for part of the demo and it messed with it a little! oh well! And yes! Thanks - I love the Monochrome setting - awesome. Thanks for watching :)
Drat! So no voice over. I was certain you were giving us a wink and a nod towards the end of the video. I figured if it was just some different audio mixing you would have acknowledged it somehow. Oh well.
Sonoma is great, until you try to use your Adobe graphic design products. It's very glitchy in InDesign - example, when dragging to select multiple objects or text, my screen goes white. I was told by Adobe to use a higher res monitor for GPU, and to wait for Apple to fix the issue. The issues are not huge, but they do slow production.
Can I ask a question of anyone here? Is anyone using Simon's Life OS with Chrome and having any issues with it? In the tracker, it's assuming the daily updates are "tomorrow". Previously the weekly and monthly calendar was also skewed. Re the tracker issue, I've ensured that both my Mac and Notion are using my timezone. These issues don't appear with Safari at all... on Sonoma, of course, that's why I'm asking.
I'm really interested in the features added to this new version of Mac Sonoma but does it allow Twinmotion to work on the Mac properly?. So that I can upgrade my Mac from macOS Monterey to macOS Sonoma for rendering on architecture modelling and drawings
Can anyone explain why my yellow and green dot for maximizing and minimising the windows look different than him i thought it was because of the update but he has the old one and I like the old one 😢 how can I get it back.
Sonoma has just a lot of bloat and nothing really business enhancement and effective pc use. Who want desktop backgrounds? You can load your own and be selective. Just a lot of nothing useful.

Brilliant breakdown mate! Love how organised and structured yet fun your breakdowns are, Sonoma feels like i've got a brand new mac!
Ah thanks pal! Yeah, it’s really a great update. I heard rumours that it messed with some people’s battery life but I haven’t had any issues. :)
Simon - I dont know if it is me but the audio gots blank from about 11:40 until a little after 13 min. Great work as always - love your videos
Thanks! No - all fine on YT from what I can see. :)
That's odd, the same thing happened to me. Great video though!

same
Exactly what I was searching for: Thank you for showing how to switch the widgets to monochrome!
Glad it was helpful! Cheers

1:04 Mum mum mum my my my my woooh! My Sonoma.
Loved it Simon 🤣
hahaha - cheers! "MUMMM MUMMM MUM MAC SONOMA" - I should have done that one!
So mate I have the 14" MBP M1 running Monterey. I do not care about any new features, but would you still recommend Sonoma?
Well I’ve upgraded to Sonoma on the same model and found it to be good - personally really like the features allowing for a clean desktop and widgets on screen - quite helpful. But I don’t think it hurts to move to it. Next one coming soon thou I suspect !
I run Sonoma on a MacBook Pro from 2012. Works like a charm!
Smashin. :)
Just happy they finally fixed the wifi issues with 14.0 that were plaguing most that upgraded
Few. I didn’t have an issue but good to hear.

The safari update...not bad at all!

Nooo I just updated my mac to that update and I need it for class😭😭
@@Justcanary8888 It's useable, just not efficient.
I still haven't switched from Catalina to Big Sur onwards, I hate how Mac OS has turned into a glorified version of iOS.
Informative video
Thanks for watching :)

pretty sure I have a 2018 MacBook Pro. Can I still download this? Doesn't show up in the system updates.
7:21 mine doesnt go like this for some reason. same settings. Also some of the wallpapers cant download for some reason
can I have a different background on my lockscreen and desktop screen? How?

video need more vibrant colors in editing
I’ve been wondering about it - although I quite like the look. This one does feel very soft thou yes.

How come some 2017 laptops can not download Sonoma
Hello Simon, we love your presentation style. Would you be interested in reviewing our nootropic supplement gummies?
Thanks for watching, but no thank you, that’s not the right fit for me. All the best with it. :)
Hey I keep on having my apps and safari windows opening on the right side of my screen... do you know why?
Interesting - not sure why that would be… do you use an external monitor
Why can't I play sims 4 through Origin since I updated?
using ipados, it does feels like Sonoma
Is it just me? Or do the wallpapers take forever to download?
Yeah the animated ones do - they are essentially videos I think!
Ahh. Vista is back. But on Mac.
Just got a Macbook....but this Sonoma is like a 7 or 8 year old Android or something. Just feels so dated. Was really expecting more from a Macbook
I don't care about wallpapers at all. Not even slightly.
Yep, definitely the least important feature of all!
Used Mac OS and hated it. Used windows and hated it. Chrome OS was such a breath of fresh air.
First comment?
Nailed it.
Edgit widets
Hahaha!
For me it's the worst update ever. Unnecessary things like live wallpaper, widgets Like old vista.
You can turn it off
You are so right. Hey, can you give me a ride in your model T and take me back to your town of Boringville?
But how can it be the worst when all features you criticize are just optional?
@@starfoggs what is the main feature?
Does it make the Mac run faster or more energy efficient?
That’s my only concern.
macOS Sonoma is completly useless.
@BetterCreating Nice watch
thanks! :)
Was gonna say the same thing. @BetterCreating What is it?
