You are a lifesaver! I inherited my mom's machine from the early 90s and it has this same exact attachment. Just made perfect button holes in a suit vest thanks to you!

Thank you! I have had this machine for about 20(25?) years and never used many of the accessories. Your video is inspiring me to keep learning more from you. You are a wonderful teacher.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I have an old Kenmore and didn't know if this would be available to me. Fingers crossed!

Wow! so helpful! I made a button hole! I've had machine for 20 years and never tried this because the manual instructions were too hard to understand. You broke down the steps in a way that were easy to understand. Thank you!

You are clear and concise with your instructions on using the attachment, unlike some other people. Thank you, I hadn't used my buttonholer since 1995 so I had forgotten how to use it. I wore out a serger, a buttonholer AND a Kenmore sewing machine when I had my shop in the '80s and '90s.
I DO recommend getting a pair of adjustable button hole scissors. They can be adjusted to cut a specific size button hole without cutting through your stitching.

This is amazing. Thank you very much. I just purchased a second hand Kenmore 385.17620 and it came with the buttonholer and cams. I looked at them and had no idea what they were until someone in a Facebook group sent me a link to this video! I am so excited to know how to use this feature on my machine!

Thank you so much. I have had this buttonhole attachment a long time and have not used it for many years. I had all the pieces, but no directions on how to use. You were a big help on me using it again. Thank you!!

I have this exact buttonholer attachment. Came with my Kenmore I bought in the 70s. Lost the paper instructions it of it. Thank you for this video. I much prefer making the button holes by this method than what they offer these days. I feel it makes a nicer looking more stable button holes.

Thank you this was very helpful. The instruction manual that came with my machine is vague. You have made it look so easy. I can’t wait to try it on the new flannel shirt I’m making.

Amazing! I've had this machine for arotund15 years. It was my mothers and she gave it to me when her eyesight began to fail. She didnt remember how it worked. We had that attachment and had no idea what is was for (now long gone). Anyone know where I can get this attachment used or new? Thank you

You may want to check a local sewing machine repair shop. You can google Kenmore 385 automatic buttonhole part on google but you may not get the best results.

I was able to order one internationally and it doesn't work :c I'm not able to have the grey part stay on the machine, it pops out. @@whatsshecreating How loose is the hook on yours?

Hi Neci. My fabric is not feeding. The gear lever is not going down enough to make the gear
    move. Can you help?

When I'm making a buttonhole with this attachment, my fabric sticks after the first corner. Any idea why this is happening? This either breaks the top thread or I get a lump right after that corner and it doesn't complete the buttonhole.

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It could be many things. Some of the suggestions for this issue include:
      Rethreading the top thread.
      Rethread the bobbin.
Change the needle is could be slightly bent. I have a tutorial for this.
Clean the machine. I have a tutorial for this.
      Hope this helps.

I have the same issue. Then my machine basically starts eating the fabric. After this tutorial I added interfacing but then just got a more stubborn mess to deal with. LOL. I haven't solved it yet, so if you did I'd love to hear what you did!
