  • Im preparing the Anschutz 9015 to run slugs out to long ranges,75 and 100 yards in sub12.
    I attempt to find which of the CZ s200 , Anschutz 9015 and lothar Walther barrels is the most accurate with the slugs i plan to use.
    the slugs i have are zan in 10 grain.
    the scope used is an optisan cp at 12x magnification

    Thank you for putting in so much work for us to see , for myself I do not intend using slugs but this is so interesting 😁

      The plan is being able to consistently get it to run accurately at 75 and 100. No doubt I could get a few lucky shots off now and call it a win but I want to get a setup that I can do it reliably with.
      I've alot more things to try out going forward. It's all fun 😉

    Great video again.. getting a group at that distance looks quite challenging. . but with the right barrel and batch of slugs they are crazy accurate... looking forward to future videos great stuff

      Hi Andy, it is definitely possible but getting everything just right, especially with slugs is going to be tricky. Not least I'll have to be on point dealing with the wind. Even if I fail it'll still go on the channel😉

    The slugs have a tight fit, but it also looks so be starting to spin occasionally giving the target that oblong hole.

    Only hand-lapping a barrel bore with a special paste will make it suitable for airgun use and supreme accuracy. The secret is in the elbow grease.

    Clamped down at our indoor range at 25yds my Feinwerkbau 800 didn't group it shot through the same hole every time. Wasn't all that pellet fussy either until we tried the cheaper gammo, milbro ect. Would be nice too see how far I could take it but 25 is the full length of the range.
    I've owned several Anschutz, Steyr, Walther over the last 25 years and have been very pellet fussy. The FWB800 is the only rifle I've had true pellet on pellet performance spanning over a variety of pellet brands and head sizes. The POI changes from say JSB to Bisley but each pellet always follows the first.
    I think your going to find 12ftlb lacks the velocity to offer repeatable slug performance at those greater distances. It's hard enough with FAC rated. Too fast and those smaller calibers corkscrew with the excess of turbulence.
    Even in ideal conditions weight, distance and velocity is a fine balancing act I'm afraid.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi john, the hard part isn't making the velocity. 680-700 fps is ample to get the slugs running nicely. Me and the boys are already running the slugs past 80yds accurately.my mate has them grouping 4" at 150 yds currently on a different platform.sub 12. But the challenge is keeping the pellets sub12 whilst keeping the slugs around 700fps. There a lot of things we've learnt so far,but finding the barrels of the right twist rate is not as easy as you'd think.
      Its a complete myth that they need the high speeds to perform. I'll cover it all when I get chance😉

    • @johntrott9513
      @johntrott9513 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tillysgunstocks I don't think it's a myth as such, I'm sure they perform just fine at a reasonable distance. Keeping sub12 700 FPS your restricted to those 10 grains the 13s would have you around 14ftlb. 10 grains is a very lightweight projectile in any form. I guess it depends what you consider accurate at the target of 100 yards. For me an accurate rifle is within 1MOA. Thats in ideal conditions with the gun clamped of course. I do hope you achieve your goal, but I think even with a good spin 10 grains at 700fps the resistance alone makes it incredibly difficult for you.

    @ВасилийПетров-ш7д ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, excellent review, my rifle is set to a speed of 340-345 meters per second and I noticed that up to the distance where the bullet maintains the speed of sound, the grouping is stable, but after losing the speed of sound and switching to pre-sound, unstable groups begin, and I always take this into account now😯

    • @eminem46787
      @eminem46787 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What you are experiencing, is hitting the transonic barrier which causes pellets/bullets to tumble a little. Try running your rifle subsonic. You’ll find it’ll be more consistent at longer ranges

    • @ВасилийПетров-ш7д
      @ВасилийПетров-ш7д ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, thank you, but I’m not a paper shooter, I hunt and it happens that you value every joule of energy to reliably kill game. Now I understand that the influence of the trans sound barrier knocks down the point of impact after 70 meters and I try to crawl closer. After the war, I'll take the 323rd 💪✌😯

    I hate to see such a long barrel unsupported on the end when there is a tank sleeve it could be braced to for more stability. That thin barrel may be vibrating a little and a brace may help.

    • @tillysgunstocks

      They will all have been sub 700fps. Late 600s for around only 10.6 ish ftlb. The friction In the barrel drops the speeds a fair bit over pellets.but they give around the same drop as an equivalent weight pellet despite the slower speeds

    its hard to say what is the best brand or barrel , if they a brand making a batch of 100 barrels, only 1 is the best overal .95 are good to ,,and 4 rejects testing barrels its almost not to do . only conclusion can be what works for you in that setup with most pellets and slugs tested and settings, in the springer time only pellets where to test😀👍👍

  • @mrln247
    @mrln247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you going to try any varieties of "pellet" lube as part of the testing? Possible it could help with consistency.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At this stage no, the slugs are inconsistently sized for these particular barrels and the way the 9015 loads. I will try some through a sizer next ,and then once I've got some Consistency look at lube amongst other things 😉
