Thank you so much for sharing this video! We will be there in two weeks and debated between a few spots that opened up. So glad I found your site. Very helpful and the only video that showed all of the sites. Our little square drop Hiker and truck will fit. 😊 Safe travels and happy camping! Explore du Nord
Thanks for the walk through! We are going in December with our small travel trailer (12' 8" total length) and will be at site 6. Looks plenty large enough and fairly level. We are about the same size at the teardrop you showed. This will be our first time in Big Bend, can't wait!
I'm excited for you! you're going to love it! I was certainly pleasantly surprised by just how beautiful it was, and the remoteness was so very peaceful! Make sure you do the lost Mine Trail, the views from the top are breathtaking! Have fun & happy camping!
This is a great review. I'm a newbie and don't need to be getting into places that will be difficult to for me and the wife to park and camp with our small motorhome. Thanks.
17’ is fine in at least 4-5 spots . Our 17’ Casita with a Ram 2500 will fit in 6, 7 and 51. Your general observation is correct , leveling can be an issue , might have to park tow vehicle at an angle . Some folks don’t realize official trailer length can bd deceiving . Some are just the box, some are hitch to bumper. Some of the sites used to be longer, probably were shortened to discourage longer vehicles . I’ve been going since 1969. This is helpful, especially for folks who have never been. Too many times I’ve seen folks on various sites saying “oh, I can fit , the restrictions are silly. This campground was designed when rigs were much smaller and most tented .
You are so right! Initially I didn’t realize that the length stated by Jayco didn’t actually consider the overall length including the hitch etc. And wow!! You’ve been going to Big Bend since 1969? That’s awesome! I’m sure you’ve had the opportunity to see lots of changes over the years! I’d only heard of Big Bend about 4 years ago. I definitely hope to go back some day! Let me know if you’re ever able to get your pictures posted, I’d love to see them!
@@williamcarmichael3151 , both 6 and 7 are pull throughs, so you could probably fit about a 20’ - 24’ trailer plus a truck. Now, the website says the driveway is 35’ long, and recommends a max 24’ trailer. But personally, while a 24’ may fit in those spots, we didn’t feel comfortable making the drive up there with the trailer in tow. Our GMC Sierra is a long truck, and we had to cross over into the opposite lane multiple times just to navigate the curves in just the truck. I made a video of the entire drive up to the campground too if you are curious about the drive. That being said, if you really want to go to Chisos , I would suggest making the drive very early in the morning before lots of cars are on the road, that way you’ll be able to utilize both lanes to navigate all the tight curves.
Nice walk-thru of the campground. FYI - Sites 13 and 14 - Although you are correct that 13 and 14 aren't good if you have a camper, they are the best two sites if you have multiple tents. They also have really nice shelters. Those are the only two sites we ever get. Plenty of room for cornhole too! Close to the store and the restroom. The trail up to the store goes right past site 13.
@@BubbaPordlaw thank you for this insight! It is appreciated! Sounds like you go to Big Bend a lot! I sure hope I get to go back someday! It truly was beautiful!
I understand what you mean to a degree, especially for some of the huge rigs. But I hope that most parks will always try to keep campgrounds that can accommodate everyone. When I’m in or around my home state of Georgia, I’ll still tent camp at times just because it can be easier and more affordable than dragging the travel trailer around. But when I go to further destinations for longer periods, the travel trailer is ideal. And for people like me that can no longer afford these expensive hotels or air bnbs, if not for these campgrounds, I likely wouldn’t be able to travel anymore. Which would be tough, because getting outdoors and enjoying nature gives me peace.

How big is the biggest you’d say would fit in sites 6 & 7?

So glad they keep the RVs out of Chisos. Hopefully they adopt this at more national park campgrounds.

I totally agree. Not all RVers are jerks 😀
