You must travel about 22 miles down River Rd to access the mines. River Rd is a rugged unpaved road, a high clearance vehicle is recommended. These mines were in operation from 1900 to approximately 1943.

I've been interested in getting an SUV tent since my 1st SUV, a Pontiac Aztek. Some of those came with a tent package. Now with my new one this is a good option. I agree with the other that the tunnel isn't an actual tunnel since with the floor off the ground there isn't a way to step out. It must belong further up on the car. A couple of question. Are there hold back/ties to roll the solid tent panels and hold them away from the door? Is there a way to partition part of it off, a corner os so, to add some privacy for a small toilet? Just a way to hold a curtain, some tents have loops for holding different items. Speaking of, is there a center top loop to hang a light? 1 other question, about the a/c you have. Is it light weight, and would it have enough power to cool a typical bedroom - like at home, instead of my heavy window unit? That sucker gets heavier every time I have to move it.
Thanks Mary!! YOu helped me select my site!!!!!!Headed there next week!!! How are the roads from Abiline to Cottonwood CG, and how hard packed are the campsites? I am camping in an Aliner (Alice) and we can usually move it around by hand when we arrive at our CG.. Thanks again, Jeff
I just bought this on clearance for $45. I haven't used it yet. Dumb question, but what is the advantage of hooking up to an SUV?
this tent is on clearance at walmart - if you can find it - for 30.00 us dollars. yes - 30 bucks. its says 89.99 but rings up $30!
Gotta be lots of snakes
Probably, I’m actually surprised I didn’t see any.
There is a bottle house in Kaleva, Mi. The Bottle House Museum.
Nice! Hopefully I can check it out some day.
There is a bottle house in Wyoming too in the vedawoo park area. One of those embalming fluid houses.
Thank you, I’ll have to look that up.
Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome! We really enjoyed visiting it.
What were those lil house looking things in the back?
4:16 The house looking things appear to collectively be a model town. My guess is that this was for children, though could be unusual garden ornamentation.
I’m not certain, but they appeared to be just garden art.
Nevada needs to cover this house to preserve it. It is awesome!
I agree!
Wish they allowed wood fires. Its not camping without a camp fire.
@@rh.114 , I wish they did too, but we used a propane fire bowl, and while not exactly the same, it was still quite enjoyable. And while we were there, the park ranger did confirm that propane fire pits/bowls are allowed as long as you place them on the ground, rather than a table top etc.
Interesting story 😊
@@TrekkingwithDebandMike thank you! We certainly were intrigued by the house.
Most of the instructions I've seen from Walmart are on the actual bag for the tent sewn to the inside. I think the snorkel tents are cool.
@@wardrobelion its a nice tent overall, just wish it had windows.
😂😂😂I just got one from Walmart for 15$ clearance
@@daliang8085 nice! You got lucky!
You all really could have just stayed at home.😁👍🏽
@@wegoall9188 I could do a lot of things! But I CHOOSE to do as I will. My family and I had a blast!!! My kids said they will never forget this experience as long as they live. On that same note, you could have left this comment to yourself, but you chose not to. Totally your prerogative, as this was our prerogative.
That’s so cool!!
Cool!😊
It's on clearance right now, I got mine for $57.00.
@@amsoiltek nice!
This is a very cool setup! Out of curiosity how long did it take for you to setup everything?
@@JayCubEdVentures , we set everything up in about 2 hours, but that was with our 2 kids pitching in to help.
I’m thinking about this place for summer 2025. Does the bath house have electrical outlet?
I don’t recall seeing any outlets in the bathhouses, infact, I don’t remember them even having lights, I had to wear my headlamp to see when I went to the bathroom in the evenings.
While I'm here, I would mention, that it was not a waste of money to overpanel your system - You need it when it's cloudy! - put the panels in PARALEL please - the combined voltage of a series connection, can kill Your powerstation! as I recall, the max voltage of Your powerstation is 26 volt, and the current it will accept is 8 amps. - too many amps will not destroy anything, it takes what it can handle - if the voltage is too high, then get ready to replace some components inside Your powerstation - the infamous blue smoke is about to leave the box.... ;-)
@@SteffenBoserup . Thank you so much for this information, it is greatly appreciated!
That powerstation of Yours, is that a Grecell t-1000??? if so, the max charging rate is 155 watt! - and then Your panels are not to blame, You are just maxing out the power station... - please reread the fine manual 🙂
@@SteffenBoserup Hi there, you’re absolutely right, this is the T-1000, and it does indeed have a 155 watt max charging input. Overall I’m still content with the panels, especially for the price. The only thing is they don’t perform well when lying flat, but I suppose that’s true for most panels. I’m currently using them hear in Death Valley national park, where I’ve been for about a week. I have the panels lying flat on my roof, and so far I’m yielding about 50% of the stated watts, and this is coming into a 2000 watt mppt charge controller. I know I’d have a better yield if they weren’t flat, but this is sufficient for my needs now. I might film another quick update while I’m here.
Thank you for the video. I just bought this for a music festival since I will be sleeping in the car part. The tunnel had me scratching my head and later cussing. Wish the instructions were clearer than what I got from wally world.
@@ambersmith3794 . I’m so glad this was helpful! I hope you enjoy the tent, and the festival!
Interesting looking RV park and vintage trailers. Cool green car. Thanks for showing us around.
@@TrekkingwithDebandMike . Thank you! It’s certainly a unique campground.
Great video we love winter camping too thx!!!
@@brianrogers5327 . Thank you! Happy camping!
How were you able to get a reservation in the 'winter'? I tried and it didn't let me reserve anything until after 4/01 😩
Aww! Sorry you missed it! It looks like this campground closes for the remainder of the winter on December 31st. I actually didn't know that, we camp at a lot of places in north Georgia well into January & February, so this surprises me. Try Desoto falls recreation area, they are open. Sites 14-22 are nice and on the creek as well. Reserve at recreation.gov. Best of luck!
We are camping there (site 5!) In April. Do you know what the name or number of the road you went on?
@@audiomxr . The campground is located off of forest service rd 69, also known as Rock creek rd. As far as where we drove to explore, we made a right onto the bridge a few miles before the campground. Here’s the coordinates. maps.app.goo.gl/GtPgn9Zwkv5xCLp78?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Amazing place! Thank you for sharing!
I live in New Hampshire and it’s about 10° right now with the windchill, but I love camping in a blizzard. We go camping all the time up here in the winter. We take our snowmobiles out and it’s a blast . You just gotta be prepared and have the right equipment and have a big fire.
@@AmericaBound . That’s cold! But it sure sounds nice! My husband really wants to camp someplace with lots of snow at some point! He wants to ride snowmobiles and try snow boarding. We haven’t done a whole lot in the Northeastern US yet, but we absolutely want to.
Fantastic spot to camp and relax 😮 and I enjoyed your exploration adventure. I do that a lot and hunt.

Thank you so much for this detailed video!!
@@georgiagirlwolf1 . You’re so very welcome! I’m glad you found it useful!
Yes, too far away from the car...
@@pegatheetoo1437 don’t agree, simply because I actually prefer it like this. Now that l've had the opportunity to camp with it more, this way suits me best. I like not stepping directly into the main body of the tent as I get out of bed, this gives me a small corridor to step into instead. It feels more spacious and creates more separation between my living & sleeping quarters. And it doesn't adversely effect the weather tightness at all. I recently camped during a storm in the Nantahala forest, and absolutely no rain got in. It’s working well for me, so I have no reason to change my approach at this time.
Any updates on the Ozark SUV tent? Thank you ❤
@@TrinkaPolite . I last used the SUV tent back in October, it rained quite a bit on that trip, and the tent did very well with rain and a good bit of wind. Even though it seems sturdy and held up well to bad weather, I don’t think I’ll use it again because of the lack of windows. Not being able to open windows and get ventilation made it stuffy and uncomfortable.
@outdoormary thank you 🙂really? Newbie here. I thought the fact that it was a mesh tent there would be plenty of ventilation. Didn't think the rain fly would limit it so much that it would be stuffy.
@ , yes, I was disappointed as well. But perhaps some of it has to do with the fact that it’s very humid in the southeast anyway. If I ever camp with it again in a less humid area, and get different results, I’ll let you know.
Thank you

Very helpful review ! We have bookmarked this for when we get back that way. Seemed like a good time to visit that area. Your videography and narration is excellent and points out great detail. Your spot did look great - love camping by the water! May the new year be good to you :)
@@bobanddangsjourney thank you!! Happy New Year to you! And happy camping!
This campground is terrible. I camped at site 3, and we were smelling the pit toilet all night. I’ll never camp here again.
@@bikeflu sorry you had a bad time there, we loved our time there, and didn’t smell anything from the pit toilets, but we usually camp these places in the winter when it’s basically empty. Most of these government-run primitive campgrounds have pit toilets, so that might be kind of hard to avoid. Maybe try DeSoto Falls campground in Cleveland, sites 14 &15 are creekside, but much further away from pit toilets.
I watched your video about Deep Hole - just got back and loved it! I drove by Frank Gross on the way home and now I have 6 reserved for April. Great videos - thank you!
@@arielriley1 . I’m so very happy to hear that these videos have been helpful to you! Thanks for letting me know! I hope you have a great time there in the spring, happy camping!😃
Good information. A good campground map would be helpful to know which entrance to use so it would be easy to back your trailer. Is there firewood available for purchase nearby or do you gather your own .
@@steventhomas7504 thank you for the feedback, I’ll try to include maps for future campgrounds. Lots of local small businesses and residents sell firewood around this campground, so we just purchased wood from them. Most of them were only charging about 5$ for a reasonable sized bundle.
Your house look beautiful thanks for sharing
