You really dont want bezels on an OLED, I love OLED but im not sure its the best for retro games with a lot of static images and colors. Seems as a great device for moonlight but I wish it could run geforce now, stadia, etc that I could use outside of my house.
Nowadays it's less of an issue but still an issue. Plus no one know the quality of those screens or if it has in-built anything to avoid it like LG does in their TVs.
Kinda tired of waiting for hardware that's finally powerful enough. It was fun seeing improvements but it's like everything has gone stale. A55 1.8 is nothing more than a power sipping core. 4 or 6 gb ram paired with 835 or better class chip... problem solved.
I genuinely almost bought one of these until I saw the Dreamcast performance sadly. It's too bad it only has 1GB of RAM, if it could handle both Android gaming and Emulation that would be perfect. Then again, for the price, it's hard to argue with such a device given the display.
I guess you and Taki got two completely different types of this model huh? He was having sound issues on his and there seemed to be issues with the brightness levels. That and seeing that the battery was a weaker type where the mold seemed to be ready to fit a bigger type to last longer. That and he was having issues with certain games. Whatever the case may be, along with the RAM, I hope they listen to user feedback on it.
They should make a black version those black bezels would blend right in but needs more power and ram for sure before I’m interested but oled is the way to go
So…. Is there ANY Anbernic device worth the money? From watching your videos I’m learning that Anbernic has some great quality but you’re going to be happier with a Powkiddy RGB Max 10 or Retroid Pocket 2+ …… I only say this because when I started my retro handheld research- I wanted an Anbernic, and I still do- but it just doesn’t look or sound like any Anbernic device is worth the money for its performance.
I bought an Anbernic 351P after buying the original Retroid Pocket. I find the RP shell and buttons a bit uncomfortable and liked the form factor and the screen setup of the different consoles displaying on the Anbernic better. They both have plusses and minuses, But now that the RP2+ has so many great upgrades if i were you I'd probaby look into that one. It really depends how much you want to tinker. The Anbernic 351P is great for more plug and play and less customization (only IMO) if you're playing some of the older games. I know I don't prefer to play the Gamecube and even N64 on these devices because they just don't work properly (IMO). Maybe newer emulation machines have mastered these?
A lot of the earlier RG351 series represented some good value for money at the time of their release; I got my RG351V for about £70, which, given the fun I've had with it, and for what it can do, combined with the quality of the buttons and laminated display, is really good. It's my go-to PS1-and-below device. The next tier/ generation of original consoles--in terms of emulation efficiency--hasn't really been nailed yet by any device that's priced like the original run of RG351s, so IMO that series remains a good value proposition. But yeah, the RP2+ can do more than any of them for just a marginal amount more money, at the cost of slightly inferior controls and build quality. If N64 and Dreamcast performance, and/ or the ability to scratch some of the PS2/ GC library (a novelty only for that device) is important to you, then the answer is obvious!
I have the 351p, and I hear it's the only one that's worth getting. Screen matches the shape of a GBA screen, so it's great for playing those. It plays basically anything 2D, some N64, and little bit of Dreamcast, DS, etc. There's also sourceports like PrBoom (Doom) for it. Anyway, it's only a hundred bucks, or little less if you get it without roms.

Because I already saw this in other videos that the protective foil comes off really hard. Also you didn't really say much about the pixel problems due to the low screen resolution. No word about the really really awful firmware, too!
So I really don't know if you were just lucky with your device as it's often normal with these typical chinese brands that the quality varies a lot, or if it's just not an honest review.
What if the other reviewers are being dishonest?
@@ganganthefatman1382 well, could be. But I don't think so cause I bought many of my devices based on their reviews and always had pretty much the same experience.
@@ganganthefatman1382 taki maybe because he has been blacklisted by anbernic and in his review, i got the feeling he was a bit sour. or the issue with the screen border might just be that 1 device that had a defect. but russ from retro game corps. his reviews are always decent. but the brightness issue. well thats going to depend on the person reviewing. whats not bright enough to one might be fine for another
I saw Taki's mentioning this. Makes sense why they also black balled him from getting sent the products ahead of time as well though for pointing it out. Makes me think once he said that other reviewers would also get black-balled if they are releasing the negative. Which isn't right but seems on par for these products and the reviews coming out atm.
@@estylegreesye4384 yeah I've noticed ETA tends to be a bit on the positive side or make any projects seem easy. such as his arcade1up conversion seemed so easy, then when i did it i ran into a million little problems he glosses over lol. it's fine tho still a good channel its just his way. i wouldnt worry about brightness on an oled personally, unless you plan to play it in the sun or something which, weirdo. in my experience the contrast is so good on oleds they always subjectively look bright, whereas much brighter lcd's can look dim to me.
Can any of these little handhelds use a wired network connection through a USB C adapter?
It would be nice to have a little handheld like this that could just be plugged into a USB C and an hdmi at the TV to stream games.
So you’re using the Steam Link App on the handheld to stream/ mirrorcast the screen from the PC to the Handheld, right? Thanks for the review!
Does it come with Cadillac and dianasours 1993 pre-installed?
I don't know if you already did your follow up video for this handheld but if not can you show how something like Spawn in the demons hand for the Dreamcast would run on it.
I really wanted to see a tear down of this.
The thumbstick placement looks very uncomfortable for someone with big hands,. Supporting the unit, switching from the sticks to d-pad or face buttons looks like it;d be difficult for me.
A compilation of what psp games run good
just buying a Vita and home brewing it is a far better value for the money if you really wanna play on that oled screen.
Nintendo Switch Oled 👋🏽
2 steps back 1step forward. Classic anbernic the amount of devices they have out they should have been elite tier by now.
Thanks for the great video, I liked it so much that I bought the console! My RG503 arrived today, however I can't get a single game to work and I have run out of ideas!! I have tried Neo Geo, Mame, Megadrive, GBA, Capcom and Super Nintendo and none of them will load a single game. I press the A button and it goes black then takes me back to the game list. Any idea what's going on?
Is it a 305 like the thumb nail says or definitely a 503 ?????
The device looks decent. I've never understood why people care about black bars, as long as you can play at original aspect ratio, I really don't care about the bars.
thats true, but it's just a waste of potential. you buy a device with 16:9 and use it as 4:3 and you're losing 25% screen real estate
@@gravious you don't lose a screen real estate if the game is 4:3
@@Awnos of course you do.. if a 4:3 image is not taking up the full 16:9 screen, leaving black bars to the sides, those black bars are wasted space on the 16:9 screen
@@gravious yes but your not missing any of the image so why does it matter?
@@gravious How many 4:3 oled screens do you think are readily available? If they used a 4:3 screen, the price might be way higher. Just accept the black bars. It's like people complaining about bezels. I find it to be stupid. People will complain about a millimeter of bezel. Before you know it, Apple will be making phones that are all screen, front and back.
The other solution would be making a shell that covers the 16:9 screen until it's just 4:3. But you're not getting a bigger picture that way. Nothing changes other than a bit more plastic covering the screen. Is that what you want? If so, then just print some pieces of plastic to glue onto the sides of the screen if it bothers you that much. Or tape. IDK.
So question is this or an OG Vita 1000 with custom firmware?
I just may get one of these for 16-bit and below emulation. I would like to see some SNES emulation. Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Top Gear 3000 and Super Metroid.
Can this run pokemon sun and moon? The pokemon games should be relatively easy to emulate by virtue of not having very demanding physics engines, right?(I have practically zero experience in the emulation scene, so please be kind)
Same screen as the PS Vita? The Vita had an OLED?
The first ones did. It was glorious too.
Hello, can you tell me that this machine has L3 and R3 keys?
Any way to remote play from in home Xbox console, with this device?
PSP game store, is unit 13 available?
Hey! Great video… what are your thoughts on running Stadia on this? Id imagine very similar to running what you tested but wondering if you had a chance to try it.
Thank you!
Would I be able to stream games from my PC to this device?
I would have liked to have seen a lanyard tag!
The design is amazing in this one
Whats amazing aboutnit? Its ugly for a commercial product and looks like a homemade handheld... performance is pretty weak too considering whats available...
@@djp5293 In fact I like it just for the reason you don't. I'm not talking about performance or price
@@madson-web you like it because it's ugly?
@@djp5293 Did I say that? If you think so you already have your answer
@@madson-web wow.. you didnt answer any question. You havent explained whats amazing about it.
your channel is very good, which is the best option PSVita or is it?
I’d much rather go the modded vita. This handheld isn’t good for the price
Definitely impressive retro handheld it’s loaded with a good handful of retro games I wish it had more psp and Dreamcast games but it’s definitely better compared to the Miyoo Mini v2 love it’s got a good library of PlayStation original games
Can you compare the brightness of 503 with Vita? Is it possible to use AMD link instead of moonlight?
Does this come with these emulated games preinstalled or do you have to source the games?
Possible performance decrease with the 1g ram for psp and DC games?
So whats the best handheld gaming machine i can use to stream from my pc or xbox?
How does gamecube do? Something like Def Jam: Vendetta whould be interesting
Hello can you test Xbox game streaming from console to handheld next?
I love my rg351mp!
The screen on this is very nice.
I saw yesterday on the news that every chip used on consumer electronics are dropping a lot in prices, I think this will get even better for the next year, but this shows how the company takes things seriously even in shortage times they managed to bring good stuff, thanks for the review!
You really dont want bezels on an OLED, I love OLED but im not sure its the best for retro games with a lot of static images and colors.
Seems as a great device for moonlight but I wish it could run geforce now, stadia, etc that I could use outside of my house.
This hasn't been an issue for years. I'm not sure why someone always brings this up.
Nowadays it's less of an issue but still an issue. Plus no one know the quality of those screens or if it has in-built anything to avoid it like LG does in their TVs.
How well does it run MAME?
Shinobi 1 arcade is not working.. what a pity 😢
hey can u do a video on a cheap android smartphone with like some custom retro emulation os like many arm retrohandhelds
Keep everything the same but the double the price with a solid CPU/GPU and it would sell like hot cakes.
I just started looking at a streaming only handheld. Does anyone have any other recommendations?
That screen fr looks like the photos were photoshopped on wtfrick its so good
1gb ram.. . Sadness..
Not interested..
How does this compare to the Ayn Odin?
This is no where near Odins level.
Kinda tired of waiting for hardware that's finally powerful enough. It was fun seeing improvements but it's like everything has gone stale. A55 1.8 is nothing more than a power sipping core.
4 or 6 gb ram paired with 835 or better class chip... problem solved.
It would not sell for only $130 if it came with that chip. But i do agree they could have added a bit more ram
If it’s the same screen from PS Vita, shouldn’t it be 960×544?
I genuinely almost bought one of these until I saw the Dreamcast performance sadly. It's too bad it only has 1GB of RAM, if it could handle both Android gaming and Emulation that would be perfect. Then again, for the price, it's hard to argue with such a device given the display.
buy ayn odin

I just want to know if it can run ultimate spiderman
Still waiting for Abernic to make something for me to play ps1 and ps2 titles
The reviewers got paid good for this one
I guess you and Taki got two completely different types of this model huh?
He was having sound issues on his and there seemed to be issues with the brightness levels. That and seeing that the battery was a weaker type where the mold seemed to be ready to fit a bigger type to last longer. That and he was having issues with certain games.
Whatever the case may be, along with the RAM, I hope they listen to user feedback on it.
I'm waiting for a pocket friendly handheld that can handle some gamecube games.
Retroid pocket 2 plus…? At least some game cube games are possible as it seems
Does this system have killer instinct on it?
Nice thumbnail
I remap all my devices to exit as a 2 second hold start button.
Screen looks mint but it should be 4:3 as stretch just looks naff
If we compare ambernic RG552 with ambernic RG503 which one is better?
RG552..
Nice... Try play megaman x
@@AmandaRogersarock1988 Thank you for this advice/ recommendation! I was considering maybe getting the MP but your advice has me reconsidering! Thank you for taking the time to write it!
@@null140 I have been considering getting the 351 V. Do you know where it lies in comparison to something like a Powkiddy Max 2? Would a 351 V in theory play PS1 games a bit better than a Powkiddy max 2? Thank you for your advice!
Can we delete games if we don’t want them? I only want sports type games. No fighting shooting ..
Sorry im confised , you buys the other games on the "psp" version?
