Some thoughts...my parking sensors quite often have to “learn” positioning again and request that I drive the car to reset them..it always does so in seconds. Also a raindrop on the parking sensor will cause an alert until it shakes or blows off. I also get “unavailable” messages for things like the Forward Alert but that can simply be dust or spray on the camera lens. Whilst they raise a concern, they always correct. Those connectors that JLR a use just do not look waterproof enough for wading and being submerged...I just would like an elasticated sleeve over them as added protection..smooth and waterproof but the basic connector shape must attract mid and damp very quickly. Only thoughts Simon...no doubt you are well ahead with all that though.🧐🧐😃😃😃Richard

Same here, l like the look of the Defender 90 Commercial but will give it at least a year before taking the plunge as l am looking to keep the vehicle for a number of years.

In the Wabco abs units used in Landrovers the shuttle values start corroding and produce an out of range ohm reading so the bcu/ecu would throw the “three amigos”. To avoid the cost of replacing the shuttle value a simple rewiring loop was devised. But more to the point terminal corrosion and bad earth were the cause of many annoying faults.

It's a shame they market it as an ultimate off-road vehicle, like LR have built their name on, goes thru a puddle and it screws stuff up. I love my Disco 4, hate how anxious it makes me feel, when I leave the tarmac!

LR lost their way years ago, I have a d4, my nightmare scenario, 400km from the nearest house and something stuffs up
    I had a 1957 series one. a 2a, 3, td5, which was good and now the D4

The wiring harness/connector looks like something from the 1970’s and certainly not what I would have fitted to than vulnerable area of a vehicle. No wonder JLR are still having so many electrical issues.

To be fair i am not sure its 100% Land Rovers fault as i had removed that connector to fit the winch etc... but the design location of the connector is questionable.

I know somebody who is a sales manager for a JLR dealership and he says it is the most embarrassing job he has ever done . How do you sell top of the range vehicles £60k plus and subsequently try to placate owners who cannot understand why they have so many warranty issues .

Hi Simon. Who in there right mind would put electrical connectors away down low like that when they know fine well people will take there 4wd through deep water as you know water and electrics don't get on too well. Connector should have been higher up on car.

    • @L663
      @L663  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I guess if you go wading 1M deep then most of the electrics are going to get wet but that connector seems to be very low and in a mud trap area. Again it may have been an assembly mistake by me but it seemed ok.

The front loom was the front parking sensor loom - i was hoping this would fix the front parking sensor ( it did ! ) and then the wade sensors would work as maybe the front sensor fault has thrown the system out but that is not the case !

      OK interesting.
A few things to check -
      1) do your cameras work ?
      2) Are your parking sensors clean - make they have not been painted over etc
      3) You can touch your parking sensors when activated ( in gear stationary ) and you should be able to feel the tip of your finger pulsing.
      4) have you taken it for a drive - this sometimes clears any faults.
Let me know how you get on..
