My evening routine is that I get home between 5 and 6 in the evening, make some quick cold dinner (mostly unhealthy junk), then I get sunk within some TH-cam videos, or play a pc game until 8. Then I declare to myself that I should go to bed soon, which I never do. After brushing my teeth and preparing the coffee machine I get back on the pc and get stuck with some wikipedia article. Suddenly it's half past ten and then I go to bed, read a novel until way too late and switch off the lights half past eleven and then need ages to get to sleep. Then my alarm goes off way too soon, I snooze it three or four times, drink my coffee and actually manage to do some sports and stretching for five to ten minutes. After that I cycle to my unfulfilling job.
    You are my hero.

Cold Turkey. It's a program that allows you to block programs and websites on your computer, tablet, and/or phone. I have it set up on my computer so 1, I can't use my computer for the first 30 minute I'm awake, which basically forces me to accomplish the things I want to accomplish first thing in the morning, like cleaning. 2, it then shuts down all the programs on my computer 30 minutes before I need to leave for work so that I stop binging YT videos and I get up and get ready for work and actually get there something close to on time. 3, I have my games blocked so I can only play them freely from Friday night and all day Saturday. On Sunday, I have a 2 hour gaming allowance to use any time I want to (but otherwise, I have to actually accomplish stuff on Sunday). And I've been experimenting with game time during the week, but right now I'm allowing myself an hour, but it's the last hour of the day, so I have to do stuff in the evening before playing. Oh, and everything shuts off at 10:30 so that I have to stop and get ready for bed.
So far, it's been working very well. Like I said, I've been experimenting with how much game time to allow myself during the week and the timing of it, but I'm very happy with the morning and night time blocks; it does force me to stay on schedule.

Thank you for these videos, and the positivity in them. As someone that is an aspiring minimalist, and that has a severe case of OCD and Anxiety (clinically diagnosed), learning how routines are supposed to work is both very inspiring, but also a goal. Since right now I rarely get to bed before 5AM-6AM since it can take me up to 4 hours to get to bed after I've checked all the doors/keys/wallet/etc (usually takes 1-2 hours) and gone to the bathroom (usually takes 1-2 hours), and I sometimes feel I've forgotten how to do things "like normal" since I've struggled with these destructive routines for so long. So seeing a routine like yours, and your warm comforting support, really inspires me to keep fighting on as every night of mine is a living hell fighting against my own brain. There's nothing I want more than to get to sleep at like 10-11PM, in a less destructive fashion, and I've been trying for years, but if I don't check everything I get so much anxiety I can't sleep... But I'm getting help to CBT it away, so hopefully in a year or so I, too, will be able to have something close to as great a routine as yours!
    Thank you :)

Sometimes I feel anxiety too, especially at night, my nervous system is so active, but I found ways for relaxing. Before I didn't take notice or just considered relaxing a waste of time, but now I changed my mind. Several months ago I started doing yoga after getting up and before going to bed. It really helps, not always, but I am relieved that I am taking action for my own health, because no one else will do it. I mean take respomsability, I suffer from neuropathic pain, and at the beginning was so difficult. I remember myr first night with hyperesthesia, I just could cry, I didn't sleep that night. 😂 But by blaming my condition, I realized I won't change, I wanted to look for solutions to improve my health. Even now it is not perfect, but sometimes it is enjoyable to try something new and start sthg new,
I hope u can find a solution for urself too! I hope u will find ur way to alleviate ur anxiety. 🙏

Have you ever tried any moringa tea, or the Bach's remedies? I seriously didn't believe in either until I tried them, at different times, of course. I've found both to be helpful, also remembering to eat light and simple especially at night, and take supplements. Sometimes when we are deficient in various minerals ( Magnesium for sure ), anxiety, insomnia can happen. I really wish you well with this. Lack of GOOD sleep is completely exhausting! I've been there.

    • @shiminjiang728
      @shiminjiang728 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@WhiteWolfBlackStar I agree. Sleeping quality is important. I tried 五味子 schizandra tea before going to sleep and it helps too. As u said, sometimes is because of lack of magnesium, potasium and other minerals. Especially for ppl who has a very excited nervous system it is recommended to eat light and avoid grassy food cause it excites our nerves. For excited nerbous system ppl it is also recommended to drink green vegetables juices (brocoli, lettuce, carrot, a piece of ginger and cucumber everyday, and avoid red meat.
I've never frank moringa tea. Thank u, I will try it!

It sounds like your extreme anxiety may be mainly physiological, leading to psychological effects that feed into unwanted habitual routines. Rather than to guess what supplements to take or psychological methods to follow, look for a functional medicine physician to test for underlying physical deficiencies and toxicities (blood, hair, urine, stool). Conventionally trained physicians do not test comprehensively like this as they are trained to treat symptoms and not the causes. This way, you'll be able to see objectively what's going on biologically and not blame it all on the lack of self-control or psychological issues. Functional medicine docs are usually not recognized by medical insurance companies, so you may have to pay out of pocket for their care, but your health, which extends into your quality of life, is totally worth it. Invest in yourself. I started off with something that I thought was a mild complaint - weight gain, tireness, and memory issues. Regular docs did basic tests and said the bloodwork was all within normal range and sent me home telling me that it's normal as I age and with the prescription of getting more exercise and sleep. I wasn't happy with that, so I sought a functional med doc who listened to my complaints and did a comprehensive workup. Sure enough, I was found to have heavy loads of toxic heavy metals, several viral infections, black mold infection which led to a compromised endocrine system (hypothyroidism, inability to detox excess estrogen, pre-diabetic due to adrenal fatigue, bad bacteria in gut which is a messed up microbiome which led to poor overall detoxification and malnutrition), and nutritionaldeficiencies. From that, a plan was created to address the toxicities and deficiencies. I underwent systemic detoxification and nutritional rebalancing. It took about three years, but I immediately felt improvement to sleep and lost the excess weight I have always carried since childhood. It turned out all the excess weight was from my body trying to contain the excess toxic chemicals and hormones and from a bad gut microbiome (from too many antibiotic exposure), which was also inflammatory fat. The memory and sleep issues were also affected by the combination of the toxicities and nutritional deficiencies. I'm now finally healthier than I've ever been and I'm finally able to maintain an effortless slim body without crazy diets or exercise, have great memory, have good sleep (still working on a good habit of following the circadian rhythm - early to bed and early to rise), and a surprise improvement in verbal communication. I used to struggle from childhood, a difficulty in finding appropriate words to express myself. It is now finally not a struggle to express myself verbally, and my thoughts flow. This health improvement journey has drastically improved my life and saved me so much time from micromanaging the individual issues when the solution was to address the underlying terrain of my body. I hope what I shared will help you and others who read this. Please take care.

Hey there! This is just a tip from someone, who speaks a lot of languages and knows a thing or two about singing as well. Since you said you wanted to improve your english, I just wanted to give some advice on pronunciation, I hope it doesn't come across as rude! Just a little one that I've noticed: Try opening your mouth more at the end of an "a". For example "idea" - it's an open "a" at the end and you can quite literally see that while speaking. That's all!
And of course thank you for the video! I am in my twenties and on a journey to discover what works best for my health, since I have some health issues and also just wanted to see how people around the globe live their day-to-day lives. Fascinating!

So I’ve been following you and your channel for quite some time now but never commented anything because I consider myself a rather quiet viewer. But I feel like it is time today: While I really enjoy the quiet and relaxed style you choose for your content, regarding both the topics and music/video, I think it is insanely refreshing that these routines do not feel staged or fake. And as someone who also struggles to stick to routines sometimes, it is so helpful to hear, that even people like you who really are doing an excellent job with their habits (so it seems from watching your videos at least) get stuck on TikTok or instagram sometimes. Things like that make me not feel alone with my challenges and motivate me. Thank you so much for sharing your stories because they do feel like therapy to me :)

    Hello Aki,
let me say a quick "thank you" to acknowledge the impact your content has had on my daily life.
Thanks to TH-cam, we all have access to endless excellent teachers on every topic imaginable. You have thus become one of my teachers, through whose inspiration I have integrated more mindfulness into my everyday life.
I have given away many of my things, consciously create free spaces in my home, go for a barefoot walk every morning and collect garbage (elderly neighbours come to me and say thank you!).
I also write a journal, which, together with the walk, has the biggest impact on my mood that day.
As I am often on business trips, I write my journal in my "Rollgut" so that I have pen and paper with me on the go without losing any of it in my bag. (Yes, I bought a new thing, but gave away my paper notebooks for this. ^^).
All of this together has really made my life easier and happier.
Thank you very much for that and I'm looking forward to more videos from you.
    Best regards from Germany.

Greetings from the UK. I just found your channel a few days ago and love how refreshingly honest you are about not being rigid to your routine if something changes, such as work, tiredness or illness. I sometimes feel we are bombarded with unrealistic goals and make ourselves so stressed and fatigued in the process. It is important to listen to your body and mind and know when to take a break or adjust your routines. I also love your idea of collecting a piece of rubbish every day and I am certainly going to start doing that too!

Oh, I love your videos. My family has a very consistent evening routine, because it helps our kids learn to have a healthy evening without us constantly telling them to do this or that. As the parents, we do our best to model the actions or behaviors we'd like our kids to do during the evening, like brushing our teeth, or getting in bed with a book. When our kids were younger (they're both teenagers now), we also had morning and evening routine charts posted on the fridge that we all agreed on and followed as best we could. At least for us, it's been really helpful in creating consistent routines both for us and our kiddos, and it's helped to make the evenings less stressful than if we were nagging them to get ready for bed or take a shower (been there, done that--it stinks). We're all practicing more skillful "habit energy" by consistently going through our healthy routines. And on the flip side, we've also learned that the most important part of our routine is to practice flexibility and patience when our routine doesn't go according to plan.

I would really love a video on your exercise/stretching process. Please! I'm 56 and now just getting into minimalism. My process (beginning) is (there is a name to this method but I forget?) living each day as if it's my last and what do I want not to leave behind for others to deal with. Plus living my last years (decades hopefully lol) in a less negatively impactful way to others and to the world/environment. But like I said I'm just starting after a lifetime of ignorant consumerism and laziness (very privileged) and seeing how I personally and negatively, in a passive way, caused harm. Harm to myself as well. Both mentally and physically. So trying in this late stage to reverse all that.

Thank you for sharing this with us!! One of my favorite things in my evening routine is to drink an herbal tea before bed. something without caffeine like chamomile, lavender or valerian root ❤️

You have to be very careful with valerian because it markedly lowers your heart rate. So bear in mind if you take other meds, and especially any heart issues. I won't take it as i have to take antihistamine all the time. 🦋

I'm still trying to find what works best for me, but I've found that I like to incorporate your advice about the lights, and journaling/diary before bed. I bought a lamp with weaker and more yellowish light, so that my eyes aren't so strained by a bright white light. I also use what used to be my desk lamp as a bedside lamp, because it has a yellow setting, and in the evening, when I'm getting ready to go to bed, that's the only light on.

Your videos are always very interesting and motivating, Akisan, no matter what topic you cover! And your evening routine is filled with well-chosen activities. For many years already, I go to sleep at around 1 or 2 am. I know it's bad for health, but cannot break this mad circle. Now, inspired by you, I decided to rethink my evening rouitine. I have resolved to go to bed at least at 23:00 with a future goal to get to sleep at 22:00... Thank you 😊🙏💚

Nice and relaxing Video, thank you!
I'm working as an educator in a Boarding school so I usually spend every second night at work to sleep there and taking care of the children. I don't follow a stiff evening Routine at home but I do have a morning Routine (only for At home) When I get up in the early morning, first of All I go to the bathroom. After this, I make my breakfast (always fresh oatmeal with fruits and so on). After preparing my breakfast, I'll do my Workout (around 15min) and finally I'll drink 0,5l of water and eat my breakfast. That's it and I like my Routine.

One of the most important things i learnt from my master is to have a simple life. What is a simple life? Just remain as you are right now and be happy. In other words, don't get married and enter into all kinds of bondages, frustrations and regret later. The more human desires one have, the more problems one will get. You can unclutter things. It’s more difficult to unclutter family members.
    Desires = stress.
Desires is not = to happiness.
Human being is like a cow that is tied around a tree. The more the cow moves around the tree of desires, the tighter the rope around its neck becomes. So he will feel more and more suffocated as he moves round and round the tree. Just stay in the same few spots and you will have a little more freedom. Humans do not know what is freedom until they lose it. It’s always the case. What will happen to the world’s population is the world’s business.
I am glad to listen to my master and remain single. I heard too many unhappy stories about marriage life that I feel so relieved for not being married and tied down by so many obligations and frustrations. I just focus on my spiritual journey and remain single. What will happen when I grow old? So what if i have children now. Will they take care of me when I am nolonger useful to them abd they have their own children to take care of. I rather learn to take care of my health now. Eat healthily, exercise and meditate and let God take care of me with His Protection when I am still alive. No family can protect me as well as God, if , you believe there is such a thing as God. God is not a religion. It is a living Reality.

I’m looking forward to you doing the stretching exercises. I worked 14 hours a day and on my feet most of the time so I like to learn more on how to relax sore back and neck muscles.

Was hoping you would have an evening routine that you would post one day. I do a variation of your morning routine. Thank you for sharing & your inspiration. I am trying to live more & more minimalistic. The morning routine is the best part of my day but I tend to struggle with my emotions / time occupation & how to live my life in a positive& productive way

    Hello, Aki
I just found your channel a few days ago and I enjoyed watching it. I like your minimalist lifestyle. It's giving me an inspiration as I'm on my journey to minimalist. I think living with so many things is exhausted because you have to clean it and arrange it but doesn't look good at the end. I also read Kon Marie book and Goodbye Things from Fumio Sasaki which help me a lot.
Thank you, Aki. I always waiting for your next video.
