I think the Homalomena Rubescen variegated is cool.. I agree with you i like the colors in em. Rather, see color than just white..philodendron tortum is very cool as well, especially how the leaves unfold. Like a corkscrew. Very unusual..
Hey Jesse, seriously save yourself the trouble of growing out a small fuzzy petiole and just get a bigger plant. They’re pretty cheap now. They’re a pain in the butt. I grew out a small plant and it took almost two years for it to start growing larger leaves (if they weren’t always getting stuck in their sheathes)… I swear growing the Melanochrysum was easier. 🤪
Fuzzy petiole is one of my favorites. I got one from Home Depot, I think Proven Winners. I took 3 cuttings from the little babies in the pots and grew them out in sphagnum moss in a grow box. They're growing in nicely! The mother plant is on a moss pole and getting huge!
Maybe one day! My dad started to scratch that itch about 2 years ago. He’s already collected 500 or so! I’ve always been more interested in foliage than flowers but never say never!
@GreenChickGardens . I plan on pollinating my mother plants. I've already grown seed from my sansevieria, haworthia, begonias, and daylilies. I was shown how to hybridize aroids from a grower here in Florida.
@@FloridaHiker619 very interesting! If and when, I’d love to buy some and experiment myself! In the future I plan on attempting some philo crosses as well but that will be a while.
I think my issue, and for many people, is the size of Philos versus Anthurium. Granted I live in Florida so I can always just chuck a Philo outside, trying to keep them inside where I can appreciate them fully is difficult. I can easily grow 8 Anthurium in the same space as 1 Philo verrucosom, for example. A lot of people will get tired of the Philos (I think) because of the space needed to grow them to get the large, showy leaves, especially the climbers.
Hmm. I can see that. Personally, the bigger the better! But I understand, and to each their own! I have actually been debating getting in to anthuriums lately 😏
Holy moly the philo Florida Beauty x Tortum is gorgeous!!
Yes I’d love to get my hands on one!

Haha thanks so much for the advice, I’ll get a more mature one. I appreciate all your tips! And I know the feeling when the leafs get stuck 🙄

First time viewing your channel. I like philodendron, syngonium, dieffenbachia, and begonia. I plan to grow them from seed.
That’s awesome! Where are you getting the seeds from?
