This is amazing. I’ve watched a lot of these college decision reactions where the student gets into really great schools with a full ride and they always end up picking the Ivy school and debt. I was pleasantly surprised at your decision. Nice boost to your confidence to get into Brown and you left it at that. Smart girl. Good luck in your studies!
Ivys have crazily good financial aid, the are often better than state school offers, and they beat out many scholarships values, even though the sticker price is like 80k it is hardly that 👍 they have the very intent to keep you out debt
Congratulations, Lydia! I was your kindergarten teacher and knew back then what a gift you had. You have always been focused and determined and look at you now! I am proud of you and love seeing you fulfill your dreams! Enjoy your college journey and congrats on U of A!💜
I did a BS/MD program, and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. HUGE congrats on your acceptances and enjoy every minute of your senior year!
This is by far the BEST college reactions video I’ve seen thus far! You’ve handled your rejections & waitlists with so much grace and class. And I absolutely love how you based your final decision on your passions & growth rather than prestige. Congratulations! You will be a phenomenal physician one day!
Very impressive...I'm a psychologist and want to tell you that your reactions were the most heartfelt of all of the reactions I've seen. You knew earlier than most exactly what you wanted and the passion behind your reactions showed your dedication to achieving your goal. At the end of the video, when you showed the photos of your development from childhood on of your interest in learning about the body and medicine, it became clear how your passion had been nurtured along the way. Congrats!
Thank you so much for this comment. It was truly hard to post my candid and raw reactions as it’s quite vulnerable but I am so glad that through my genuine reactions you were able to see my passion. This really meant a lot to read, thank you!
My ideal physician is one that is passionate about her profession, intelligent, compassionate and her decisions are not based in any other consideration but the benefit for her patients. The fact that you have chosen a no-debt future means that you fulfil the intelligence* and patient-first requirements. That you have chosen a BSMD path ticks the passion leg and to remain close enough to family, the compassionate one. You'll be a most-excellent MD. Congratulations! * For the general reader: To choose a "famous" college, incurring in debt, makes no financial sense whatsoever. No prestige can compensate the conditioning you will suffer while taking your decisions at the start of your professional life. Lydia will be free to choose whatever she wants to do!
I’m forwarding the last 2 screens to my daughter who is currently struggling through he STEM major and finals. I know that she will eventually get there, but I think she can use those words of encouragement now. I loved how your family always had confetti on deck!! Thank you for keeping it real.
Sending positive vibes her way- she can do this!! Majoring in STEM is certainly no easy feat and we need more strong women like her in the field. Best of luck!
From a fellow bsmd admitted applicant from this year, getting in is a HUGE accomplishment. You definitely deserve it as a few selected out of the many that applied. Great job!! 👏
@@BSMDLyd The point I was trying to make is although Brown PLME is known to be the top BSMD program in the USA (With Northwestern). 2 students who got accepted to 8 Ivy's took a different journey, and ended up at the same destination. 1 To attend Harvard 2. The application process to these larger and competitive programs really do help you grow. Seeing how many successes you had and your connection with your family and their reactions also really brightened my day. In case you've been experiencing people questioning your decision (cause I sure have been), I want to say I think your decision is very wise and I back it 100%.

Wow congratulations! I was a finalist to REMS, PPSP and Sophie Davis but got rejected in the end from all of them (also Brown which was my dream). So happy to see you got in though!
WOW! Being a finalist at these top programs is an incredible accomplishment in and of itself. I have no doubt that you will become a doctor if you continue to choose to pursue that path. I admire your grit and appreciate your support. Best of luck!
@@BSMDLyd Thanks! I'll pursue my dream of becoming a doctor the traditional route and see where life takes me. Enjoy Brown! Say hi to my friends there!
So I happen to live in a community with a world class university. We are actually home to 2 universities and 1 technical college. I find it interesting that there is so much pressure to go else where to school when there literally wonderful institutions in ones backyard. Your decision is your own. My high school. Graduating class has just shy of 200 hundred students and more than half of us stayed in town to finish at least our undergraduate studies . Of course moving on for my specialized training. I can confidently confirm that graduating with no debt is the way to go! My classmates who chose to stay local are in some cases 10 -15 years ahead ( financially ) compared to others who went away. Best of luck !
Wow! As a Canadian this is so crazy. It’s not as crazy here. You apply to maybe 3 schools and usually get in. Also, you were in kindergarten 2 years after I graduated high school and the year I graduated college (2 year diploma). It’s amazing how, at such a young age, you’re already on the path to being a md. Congrats from this old 33 year old!!!!!
In the end you'd be a doctor if you went to an IVY league or if you went to Arizona, so you made the absolute right decision in going to Arizona graduating debt free. 5 years after you get your first job, no one will care what college you went to- you will officially be an MD so don't worry about how prestigious or well known the school is, it doesn't effect anything. As long as you got your MD, that is all that matters, and the right decision is the one where you are debt free. Congratulations!
Wow! You are a remarkable young woman! I wish you much success and happiness and hope you will give us occasional update as you progress toward your MD. I realize you are at the very beginning of your journey, but do you have an idea of what specialty you want to pursue?
Thank you so much!! :) I’m not sure as of right now! I have a lot to explore, and plan on updating everyone as I continue to discover the different distinctions within medicine!
I feel that Arizona one! My top uni (uk) said they’d send an email between 9am and 5pm… the two other applicants at my school heard back before 12pm and I was still waiting! Came through 5pm on the dot 😂🎉 lol congrats on all your acceptances!!!
Wow... Thank you for sharing your journey with us all... Congratulations, and here's to the amazing career I'm sure you will have... Oh, by the way, I received my MBA from the School you will be attending so I may be a bit biased with your choice ; )
Are you first generation or is their people in your family in medicine? Congratulations this is truly impressive and you’re an amazing role model to me and I bet many others 🎉🎉🎉🤩🤩
I loved this! GO -UArizona- UofA!! As for the Ivy League.. they are all overrated! You might be surprised to find out how many of those classes are taught by Grad Students and Adjunct Professors... so even if it claims to be the best.. it's not. Matter of fact, there are community colleges that can teach better, because they have full-professors that don't have to worry about paying bills, like Adjuncts do.
The amount of rejections you went through wow 😮…. I respect you girl. Can you please explain youre decision a little more. Off course you don’t have to but the brown option was so prestigious. Was it really financially that much different and higher than Arizona that it would be impossible ? I really thought because of the scholarships you would be able to cover the costs
BS/MD is insane dude. It's a guaranteed path to MED School, no added stress after the bachelors. Plus debt free from U of A(a university with incredible resources and amazing opportunities for medical students), all in all an excellent opportunity. More things to consider than "name".
The major scholarship I was selected for only applies to in-state institutions. While Brown offered a generous scholarship as well, the 8-year financial commitment was just not something I was ready to take on. I explain my reasons for selecting U of A in the text-heavy slide at the end of the video. Thank you for your curiosity!
Just posted Stats/ECs video!!

Nicely done video. Entertaining and informative.
Omg!!!! Congratulations fellow wildcat! I’m currently double majoring in journalism and poly sci and the U of A and I hope to cross paths soon. Welcome to Tucson and you definitely made a great choice! I plan on leaving for my graduate studies but our med school is top notch! Best of luck to you in your studies and as always Bear Down!
Go cats!! Best of luck in your journey to grad studies!
@@alexkaleochi4278 thank you!! I’ll be attending UofA in the fall, but appreciate the kind sentiments nonetheless :) best of luck to you!!
Good for you!! Congratulations!! I'm very excited for your next steps, don't forget to enjoy student life to fullest ;)
Good job. You'll be a great doctor. Keep going. Sending good vibes from Denmark.
Congratulations on your acceptance! Have fun at uni
So happy for you Lydia! Wish u the best
It’s always inspiring to hear of the success that comes from local institutions. Thank you for sharing!!
this video made me so emotional
:,) I haven’t felt that much concentrated emotion since app season !
Congrats!!! That's awesome!! Good luck (Brown 26 here!!)
Congratulations to you as well!!!
Congratulations! This is truly amazing, and makes me so happy!
Thank you so much!! 🥰❤️
congratulations!! ❤️❤️
I don’t know you and this video just randomly appeared in my recommended, but congratulations! 🎉
Thank you so much :))
Lydia, you are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your journey! We are all SO PROUD!!!! - Dr Nichols
Thank you so much, Dr. Nichols!! You've always been an inspiration to me- I can't tell you how much this means! :)
Congratulations! Keep up the hard work. You've earned it!
Thank you so much:)
These are high level colleges
big congrats to you!!!
Hey, I wanna start my applications for 2023 and loved your reactions. Do you think you can make a video on your stats, essays and etc. ?
Just posted Stats/ECs! Let me know if you have any questions about the applications and best of luck, I believe in you! :)
Right?! So nerve wracking!! Glad you got your acceptance! :)
Hi Lydia, I was really enjoying the day in the life vlogs on campus! Any plans for those to continue in the future?
CONGRATULATIONS 🥳
Congratulations on your acceptances, and hi to your little white cat too!
wooo bear down!! im starting uofa this fall!
Bear Down!!!

u are such an emotional person. Sooo cuteeee
You’re gorgeous girly! You’re face looks so clear lol! Good luck!!! :)
Thank you, Haley T! :)
Viewers, turn you volume down. Joy leads to loud shouts of excitement, so don’t get jumpscared like me.
Wow... Thank you for sharing your journey with us all... Congratulations, and here's to the amazing career I'm sure you will have... Oh, by the way, I received my MBA from the School you will be attending so I may be a bit biased with your choice ; )
Congrats! Would you mind posting stats and ecs?
Just posted!
Are you first generation or is their people in your family in medicine? Congratulations this is truly impressive and you’re an amazing role model to me and I bet many others 🎉🎉🎉🤩🤩
I am the first person in my family to pursue a career in the medical field :)
Thank you for your kind words!
Congrats and Bear Down!
Congratulations..! Please can you share Stats and ECs
posted! :)
congratulations 🎉
I loved this! GO -UArizona- UofA!!
As for the Ivy League.. they are all overrated!
You might be surprised to find out how many of those classes are taught by Grad Students and Adjunct Professors... so even if it claims to be the best.. it's not.
Matter of fact, there are community colleges that can teach better, because they have full-professors that don't have to worry about paying bills, like Adjuncts do.
Congrats!
Ahhhhh congratsssss!!!
Thank you!!!!!!! Congrats on your INCREDIBLE schools as well!! ❤️
GIRL the way I SCREAMED when you got into Brown LMAOOOOO Congrats
Congratulations :)
You must be very clever. Congratulations!
@@anoneemous406 👏🙏
The major scholarship I was selected for only applies to in-state institutions. While Brown offered a generous scholarship as well, the 8-year financial commitment was just not something I was ready to take on. I explain my reasons for selecting U of A in the text-heavy slide at the end of the video. Thank you for your curiosity!
@@anoneemous406 Well said, thank you so much!
@@BSMDLyd aha only in state. Now I get it 🙏👍
