    I didn't realize before your videos that Judit was SO strong.

      That makes no sense. If an activity is dominated by women, the only man competing at high level can totally say his opponent don't like losing to a man and give excuses without being labelled misogynistic. Also I don't think you understand what me too is about.

    At the moment when you asked me to pause and come up with White's 22nd move, instead of 22. Bf1 or 22. Re1 I was considering the weird 22. Bf3!? It's visually odd to step in front of the pawn like that but I was trying to keep the bishop on the d1-h5 diagonal (which obviously would have been helpful in the game) without requiring the defense of another piece. If Black wants to exploit the bishop's awkward placement they'll have to open the kingside. I was delighted to find that 22. Bf3 is the engine's top choice as well! Thanks for showing me the nice game and a turbulent position to get those creative juices pumping.

    The knight move to displace the bishop between the two rooks set up the Qh4 beautifully... Great analysis, as always!

  • @7inrain
    @7inrain 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @9:10 In that situation I would have played Bf3 as White. Yes, it looks a bit fishy due to some f5 ideas for Black but at least it keeps the rooks connected on the back rank and the Bishop controls both the long diagonal as well as the pawn chain g4-h5.

    MC outplayed in this game. A really good game by Polgar; her tactics was totally overlooked by MC. A good analysis, Daniel.

    • @TheChessRunner
      @TheChessRunner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is just not true. Carlsen completely outplayed Polgar in this game and was completely winning in a lot of ways, but the position was still complicated and he blundered a tactic with f3 and the game was death lost.
      All credits for Polgar to keep asking questions and grabbing her chance. A well deserved win, but it was not by 'outplaying' Carlsen

    • @fredrikmannsverk5071
      @fredrikmannsverk5071 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I agree with you. That was an exaggeration. I should only have said that he overlooked a tactic.

    In case anyone is wondering score between Judit and Magnus is 11 wins, 5 draws and 1 loss to the advantage of Magnus. This is Judit's only win against Magnus and a nice notch to have against the world's #1.

    • @cheryllins1105
      @cheryllins1105 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nakamura has only one classical win against Magnus. Something like 13+21=1- in favor or Magnus. I tired to include only classical games in the count. A lot of really strong male players have lopsided scores in Magnus' favor.

    My immediate reaction to Carlsen's Bf1 was... dare I say it... etc., a comment I was surprised not hearing from you! But you only postponed the comment. I owe you thanks, by the way. I was never very conscious about split versus connected rooks. So if I ever resume my hobby as an active player, look out! I shall be stronger than ever. Maybe...

    Stop dissing the KID! QID is boring as heck. :) I strangely play Nimzi, Bogo or KID as Black as I like to unbalance things, but prefer the positional English as White

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha. There is a massive difference between playing the KID in professional chess and playing it at amateur levels where the complexity is difficult to control.

      @@PowerPlayChess I hear what you are saying all too well. I also like the Pirc, even though you have to sit through cramped indignities waiting and trying to get the g7 bishop freed to wreak havoc along c3-b2 in the late middle game. But I tried and tried to play QGD and QID and Slav and Caro Kann and just ended up with passive positions where I got squeezed to death

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Openings are largely a question of taste, at least at amateur level. So if you find an opening that suits you, go for it!

  • @philosophyphilosophy903
    @philosophyphilosophy903 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    But ultimately magnus has won that match. Polgar wasn't being able to even touch Magnus after that game he has lost. I suppose that you also know that consistency in play makes a player better or worse. And I believe that Magnus Carlsen is definitely a significantly stronger player than polgar, I've played with him on play magnus app.😎

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Obviously Magnus is a stronger player, and yes he won the final by winning the next three games. And this game is still remarkable!
