    The GooLoo GP4000, Auto Battery Booster Pack,Portable Power Bank with USB Quick Charge and Type C Port.
    In this video I had INTENDED to demonstrate how easy it is to use my new GooLoo 4000 jump pack, but well.... It turned into a demonstration on how "SuperSafe", and "idiot proof" this jump pack can be! The end of the video gets a bit laggy, and I tried several renders, but nothing fixed it.
    The "unboxing" was recorded in November of 2021.
    It was a very cold 24°F morning on February 13th 2022. I was attempting to start two cars that have been sitting for a couple of months. Both were completely dead, and the Lexus had a quarter inch thick layer of ice on the battery casing! I start off by hooking up the jump pack BACKWARDS, and blowing the main fuse in the Subaru...

    Ha! I've owned a long string of Subarus (including a 2002 Legacy wagon) and I think that all of them have had the battery positive inboard. I was yelling at the screen when you first hooked it up! Oddly enough, I have that exact booster pack. It works fantastic, I've started everything from lawn tractors to diesel trucks with it.

      It's funny, though, after what I put that jump pack through, it's still starting vehicles with no issues and hasn't let me down.

    OK, we all make mistakes, but this took it to a higher level. Not only didnt you heed the warning the pack was giving you, you didnt look at the battery itself to verify polarity. The pack told you it was backwards and you quickly kinda looked at the wires without actually following them to their end to verify who was right, you or the pack. As soon as the pack alerted you to a problem you should have removed it and figured it out. Kudos to you for being honest and posting your mistake, but sometimes honesty just intensifies stupidity. You cant deny that wasnt stupid on you part, but we all live and learn. All the best my friend....

      In all honesty about 80% was intentional (thus, the video name) but I DIDN'T actually expect it to discharge when it did. Only blew a main fuse, but yeah.. There are LOTS of people that will do STUPID things, and ignore or even be completely oblivious to warnings. THESE were designed with idiots in mind... that's why I'm still using it. It has NEVER let me down. Very few actually follow directions.

    • @HouseCallAutoRepair
      @HouseCallAutoRepair  วันที่ผ่านมา

      The point, and INTENT was to be as "dumb" as I could possibly be, and realistically push the protection limits of the pack. I didn't expect to succeed in causing a problem. I'm glad I only smoked a fuse! I still use this exact pack a couple times a month and it has never failed me, but has challenged me. (extremely low voltages, but not completely dead, makes it think it's on incorrectly)

    Good Lord how long does it take to realize it is backwards . this proofs some people does not use common sense.

      I set into this video with the intention of showing pretty much what I did, however, unintentionally, and stupidly, I had it hooked up backwards. Believe me, I know the difference between black and red, but for some reason it just didn't "click" in my head that I had them backwards... which ironically proved my point about how ""idiot proof" these are. Two blown fuses and all was good again.

  • @tac73

    Just a quess... You didn't actually read the manual?
    If less than 2 bars, it can damage the Gooloo, if you try to jump start. You need to charge it up first.
    Also, if the thing says you've reversed polarity, you might want to check it.

      Trust me. I DO know what I'm doing. THIS was an INTENDED demonstration of how these were designed to PRVENT what I managed to bypass. The purpose is to show these work even after being improperly used.

      How could you assume that the negative cable is alway closer to the metal. A tru technical mechanic could have just trace the cable and get a confirmation.
      Second: How could you risked triggering a short with car keys while handling high power cables.
      Third: Why did you not inspect the condition of the battery connection first and clean them.
      Your technician analytic process really needs a revamp.
      Overall, the point for the quality of the Gooloo charger proved to overcome your clumsiness.
      Thanks to you, I will place my order !!!

    What is the fastest you can charge this pack? Does it take any sort of fast charging? I see it draws up to 18w but nothing indicates that its utilizing PD charging standard.

    • @HouseCallAutoRepair
      @HouseCallAutoRepair  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The charger it is supplied with charges it in a few hours, from nearly dead. I don't need to charge it all that often, so a few hours here and there are no inconvenience.

    • @fisheye42
      @fisheye42 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn’t t call it fast. I’d call it normal. (Fast charging shortens battery life, so normal is probably best in the long run.) GooLoo website’s GP4000 product page says the USB-C input port charges it “6 to 8 hours”, at up to 15W rate (5V @ 3A). But it usually doesn’t come with a power supply, so you’ll need one that that can supply to 15W.
