And it might not even be better than nothing because some cases make the family’s tragedy into a circus

    • @dmf1301
      @dmf1301 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@yucol5661 If someone in her position actually did do that - killed the killer - it would be very difficult to get a conviction at any rate.
      Public sympathy for a victim in that situation would be way too great for any prosecutor to convince 12 people that she's a murderer.
      They might get a plea deal with something like criminally negligent homocide with probation, community service, and a mandate for counselling.

    Stories like this is exactly why we should be decriminalising prostitution and giving them protection rather than persecution. How is it fair that prostitues are arrested for working oftentimes the only job they’re able to get but clients aren’t? Prostitution is the oldest profession too. Plus so many young kids are trafficked into it and rather than getting protection, they are the ones who are punished for it!

    Perhaps a lawyer or a DA reading this would be able to tell us, but since he's later found to be incapable of standing trial due to being a swiss cheese brain from untreated syphilis, doesn't that also make him unable to understand his Miranda rights? Would that negate Miranda and leave open a space for his family to sue? I know plenty of "families" out there would give it a try so that they could try to get money for themselves, I just wonder if they'd even have that option in this or if they'd have to go a different route?
