Love your content guys 😊
Does The Odd Couple count? It’s old and a comedy, but it’s the only good movie I can think of with a main character named Oscar. 😋
Love It WatchMojo.
The pianist was awesome movie 🍿
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of King first time I knew of the Oscar's when it won.
One of the greatest crimes ever in cinema history is Brokeback Mountain not winning Oscar for Best Picture.
Another crime is The Dark Knight did not receive Best Picture nomination in Oscar!!!
@@honsangivantong6506 because of the nature I guess
THE LACK OF LOVE FOR WHIPLASH IS ASTOUNDING
Everybody loves that movie. I would argue that Birdman (Best Pic Winner that year) is the one that people dismiss nowadays.
I think it’s annoying how no one talks about the Descendants from 2012 with George Clooney and Shailene Woodley I love that movie
@@vicentemariani8730 wow.. Thats one of my favorite movies of all time ☺
@@vicentemariani8730 Awesome film! 👍👍
@@scmkarand Moneyball for some reason Hugo is in This video and not Moneyball I get that it didn’t win Oscar’s but it’s still fantastic
I wish ‘There Will Be Blood’ could’ve won Best Picture for 2007 but I think ‘No Country For Old Men’ was also epic and satisfied.
Those two were neck and neck
If only Paul Thomas Anderson took home Best Director and The Coen Brothers took home Best Adapted Screenplay or the opposite, that could've been a great win for both movies imo
Oppenheimer really was a masterpiece. If Nolan keeps this up I think he'll exceed Spielberg as a director.
Return of the King is easily the best of 2003. Y’all wild lol
I can't believe that anybody can consider Lost in Translation a better movie than LOTR, especially The Retun of the King. And why the heck is this comment so low.
@@DanielHernandez-ue9ww LOTR: The Return Of the King is a much better movie, let alone the greatest movie being made, all of which made LOTR Trilogy a widely beloved trilogy.
Facts
@BernerCheifs97 I’m biased but yes.
Facts
I would say "Zero Dark Thirty" in 2012 or even Django
Oh man Django was brilliant! Tarantino got his second Oscar for original screenplay from that. Definitely one of my favorites
Django Unchained is one of my favorite films of all time. It might be the Best Western and Blaxploitation rolled into 1 film of all time
It was so ridiculous that Brokeback Mountain did not win best picture...
Agreed.. makes it even worse that "Crash" won that year 🤦🏿♂️
Ridiculous how Saving Private Ryan didn't win. Or any of these: Minari, Hacksaw Ridge, Hidden Figures, E.T, Raiders of the Lost Arc & the Green Mile, just to name a few. Point being, the academy almost never gets it right. It's not just BBM.
Watchmojo should do a list of the Top 10 Movies Directed By Clint Eastwood.
Get Out should've been there for 2017.
Definitely one of the best that year. I’m just happy that Jordan Peele won best original screenplay and got a director nomination.
Fr
Eh... no. Three Billboards is the better film in almost every aspect and it's not even remotely close.
@@shadysorkin9214wrong
Parasite and Oppenheimer deserves all the love and acclaim they got. Worthy of being named as some of the Greatest Films of All Time
Oppenheimer yes parasite no. Once upon a time in Hollywood was the best film and I could careless what WatchMojo says.
Oppenheimer is going to win ALOT! And this Nolan’s best and year. Rooting for it all the way!
I feel like Whiplash, Damien Chazelle's first Oscar-nominated movie, is still somewhat underrated. JK Simmons did win best-supporting actor, but I feel the rest of it was slept on. Miles Teller's performance, the music, sound editing, editing, and screenplay should've gotten more recognition.
Agreed. It should've won best picture.
No Lord of the Rings???? What art house film major wrote this video???
Very strange indeed
Fr
Happy that EEAAO won 7 Oscars! One of the greatest films of all time and most awarded movie ever.
I agree
My favorite Oscar dramas
2009:Up in the Air
2012: Silver Linings Playbook
2017: Get Out and Call Me By Your Name
2018: Blackkklansman
Oppenheimer was the best movie of 2023 , Christopher Nolan is the man , he deserves win the Oscar for best director and Cillian Murphy for best actor
It was Barbie Oppenheimer overrated
Nope! I find Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon better
Do you really think it's better than Past Lives, Godzilla Minus One, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Leave the World Behind', Tetris, Anatomy of a Fall, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Hit Man?
Also, I agree Nolan should get best director, but I think best actor should go to Paul Giamatti. Murphy was great though. Love him, won't be upset if he wins.
Overrated movie.
@@crobeastnessWhy do you think Giamatti should win Best Actor? Cillian Murphy went through hell during production and it shows in his complicated but honest performance.
Hope more movies about autism can get that much nominations. Rain Man was the first but more should too. Life, Animated should have got more other than Best Documentary Feature. Should have also got Best Film Editing, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Picture
Same with movies in other languages
The movie Wonder should have got more nominations other than Best Makeup like Best Original Song Brand New Eyes and Best Actor Jacob Tremblay and Best Supporting Actor Noah Jupe and Millie Davis Best Supporting Actress and Best Picture
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Oh, they were nominated movies..!! I was wondering why Chicago was not listed in 2003. 🤣
Chicago is 2002 film and the are actually including the film the won best picture in this video
"Million Dollar Baby" never fails to make me cry. It's such a heartbreaking story, and Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman definitely deserved their Oscars.
All of those list were right for me, except:
2003: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
2009: Inglorious Basterds
2010: Inception
2011: The Artist
2012: Django Unchained
2013: Gravity
2015: Mad Max: Fury Road
2016: Manchester by the Sea
2019: Once Upon a time in Hollywood
W for 2003
2010 and 2015
Lost in Translation? Legit never heard of it. I'd go with Return of the King myself for 2003.
That was weird
Fr nothing touches ROTK
I think Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing in Wolf of Wall Street.
The best Oscar drama movie on this WatchMojo list? Everything, Everywhere All at Once.
Best Oscar-snubbed dramas?
1) Hereditary
2) Killing of a Sacred Deer
3) Saltburn
Hereditary is the best snubbed drama film ever-yes, it’s a drama as well as a suspense, horror thriller. The first 45 minutes of Hereditary is 100% drama with no horror at all.
The second best Oscar-snubbed movie is The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Holy crap, this movie is good…it sticks with you. Three days after watching it, you’re still thinking about it, and that’s how you know it’s an impactful masterpiece. It’s the best Kubrick movie that Kubrick didn’t make.
The third best Oscar-snubbed drama is Saltburn. Again, three days after watching it, you’re thinking about it and talking about it with friends. Barry Keoghan was snubbed for Best Actor again (after being snubbed for Killing of a Sacred Deer).
Spotlight better than Mad Max Fury road? Are you drunk?
They are
Where is DJANGO UNCHAINED?
Best movie of 2000 was Traffic followed by Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon!!!!!
The only movies I agree with on this list are:
"Gladiator"
"A Beautiful Mind"
"Million Dollar Baby"
"Brokeback Mountain" (even though I couldn't watch the gay scenes)
"Slumdog Millionaire"
"Hugo" (even though my favorite film that year was "War Horse")
"12 Years a Slave"
"Nomadland"
I wasn’t a big fan of Nomadland even though I did pick it to win best picture. It was a boring movie
@@TimmyD3085 I will respectfully disagree about it being boring, but thank you for picking it to win Best Picture.
@@TimmyD3085Yes, boring & no plot. Minari should have won that year. It was infinitely better.
Really?!?!??! Three opportunities to name a Lord of the Rings movie the best film of the year but they are ignored. Especially in 2001 I would say it was the best.
Very strange indeed
Parasite is definitely in my opinion in the top 3 of all of the best picture winners of this century
Fact
It was an incredible movie & one of my favorite Best Picture winners until "Everything Everywhere All At Once" (side note: my daughter goes to the college where The Daniels met & that win was quite the hoopla there.)
I have mixed feelings about Argo. On one hand, it shows Ben Affleck’s capabilities as a director and brought him back into Hollywood’s A list after years of being limited to a paparazzi daring. On the other, it has a laundry list of historical inaccuracies that shouldn’t be shown in classrooms. I feel that Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” is the superior Oscar nominated film of 2012.
🎬 Amazing compilation, I've seen and loved most of these films! 🍿
I want to see Killers of the Flower Moon win this year!
I would love that too, but I think it’s going to go to Oppenheimer because Christopher Nolan is likely to win for best director.
Lily Gladstone is their biggest chance to win
Oppenheimer, Elvis, and The Piano.
Spotlight 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Unpopular opinion: The Shape of Water is the best nominate Oscars in 2017, Hehe! I watch the Movie in 10 times which is my favorite film of all time that related to me that I diagnosed with speech delay when I was a child, that's why ☺️👍🏻❤️

2022 - Everything Everywhere All at Once
2023 - Killers of the Flower Moon
Ok
CODA was good!
Coda was garbage. Dune should've won best picture
The Oscars haven't been relevant at determining actual movie quality since they snubbed the LOTR movies. Everybody knew they should've been nominated more and won more, and they only finally allowed ROTK to win to "make up" for the previous snubs. And even then they refused to give actor nominations even though Sean Austin at least should've gotten a Best Supporting Actor one.

I hated most of the Best pictures wins in the last 10 years. Please give people awards for good work! Not religion, race, or sex!
How many times do I have to tell you this Mojo? The Social Network sucks and is NOT the classic you try to gaslight your audience into thinking it is. The King's Speech more than earned its Oscars.
When I saw Cillian Murphy's face of horror in the trailer, I knew I had to go watch Oppenheimer.
Hated Lost In Translation!
2001 Gosford Park
2003 Master and Commander
2007 There Will Be Blood
2011 The Artist
2012 Django Unchained
2013 Gravity
2015 Mad Max: Fury Road
2020 Promising Young Woman
2021 The Power of the Dog
2022 Tar
It's been 11 years and I'm still pissed that The Wolf of Wall Street lost to 12 years a slave at the Oscars. Martin and Leo were robbed
I still need to see _The Wolf of Wall Street._
@@Jeremiah_Rivers76yes you do
2014 Best Picture should've been Whiplash.
So you guys didn't give a nod to a single Lord of the Rings film🤣🤣🤣. Beautiful Mind beating Fellowship i can see, but The Pianist and Lost in Translation (2 great movies by the way) beating Two Towers and Return of the King is just nonsense.
Ya know I was just thinking that
Very strange indeed
The Pianist is masterpiece
This Channel really loves "The social network"
Cause it’s perfect
Not seen Roma, Nomadland and Coda. I find it a bit weird that Crash and The Hurt Locker were nominated a year after they came out.
Oppenheimer deserves the awards this year. I hope Cillian, RDJ and Nolan win their well deserved Oscars.
Most years have at least 1, if not several, movies I haven't seen yet, so this is subject to change.
2000: The Green Mile
2001: Gladiator
2002: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
2003: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
2004: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
2005: Million Dollar Baby
2006: Munich
2007: The Departed
2008: Juno
2009: The Reader
2010: District 9
2011: Inception
2012: War Horse
2013: Argo
2014: The Wolf of Wall St.
2015: Whiplash
2016: Room
2017: Hell or High Water
2018: Get Out
2019: Vice
2020: Little Women
2021: Judas and the Black Messiah
2022: Drive My Car
2023: Everything Everywhere All at Once
Choosing Coda as the best contender is a bit much though, especially with superior films such as West Side Story, Licorice Pizza, and Tick Tick Boom.
The BEST movie of 2015 is Mad Max Furiosa! And for 2016 it should be La La Land not Moonlight!
Roma was good but not the best.
The Departed is the American Version of the Chinese Internal Affairs Movie Series.
Slumdog Millionaire is one of my fav movies.
You made it sound like Oppenheimer has already won. The awards are in March.
It Is Cillian Murphy Not Killian Murphy
Oppenheimer
I honestly think that The Pianist should’ve won instead of Chicago for best picture
Rebecca is the best at Watch Mojo
She is definitely iconic.
Should have been LOTR for 2001, 2002 & 2003😢
One ring to rule them all
Wasn't Slumdog Millionaire hated by the entire Indian community for its depiction of the slums and the country in general, finding it offensive?
The video is awesome&bizzarre
Three billboards was an amazing movie
No doubt Oppenheimer without the the I have only watched this movie it's the greatest movie of all time.
Till these days I still don't understand how the hell Crash won Best Picture over Brokeback Mountain
Wow Amazing
Oppenheimer is overhyped. The story is all over the place, the sound mixing was horrendous, the film was too long and felt like we were just watching Oppenheimer have survivors guilt for two hours straight. The only two things to actually be good about this film are Cillian Murphy and the cinematography (sfx too but that’s a given). Overall, way too many nominations for this film. Too many.
All awesome movies that are also important. Like Gladiator, No Country For Old Men and Oppenheimer.
_No Country For Old Men_ took a massive gamble by having very little music-16 minutes, per my research-but it was more than enough for Best Picture at the 2008 Oscars. Even if it had a great score, it’d likely fall through if it were made today because it wouldn’t be what today’s critics call a good movie.
Still can’t get behind Spotlight. I get its message, its themes and the acting was great, but man it was boring. Would have secretly loved to see Mad Max Fury Road win that year, but that’s not a typical academy award movie. I also really dug The Martian
after all these years,i still think La La Land should have won. Moonlight is a great film but Damien Chazelle's movie is all i love in Cinema. And i'm not a fan of musicals.
2000: Gladiator
2001-2003: Lord of the rings trilogy
2004: Passion of the christ
2005: Batman Begins
2006: The Departed
2007: 300
2008: The Dark Knight
2009: Avatar
2010: Inception
2011: Harry Potter 7 pt 2
2012: Django Unchained
2013: Gravity
2014: Interstellar
2015: Mad Max Fury road
2016: Deadpool
2017: Wonder woman
2018: Avengers Infinity War
2019: Joker
2020: not applicable
2021: Dune
2022: Top Gun Maverick. but I did like EEAAO
2023: Oppenheimer
Those are the best pictures in each year. And unfortunately the Oscars get it wrong ALOT.
Well I think for the Lord Of The Rings trilogy they may have wanted to more the wins for 3rd film.
I don't necessarily agree with the Oscar's I don't think they go for entertainment value so some of the films you listed may be why they didn't win. I like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight,Inception though they are action oriented films, same with Mad Max Fury Road, Wonder Woman like Batman Begins comic book film, as well as Deadpool which I like, I'm not into Wonder Woman and Avengers Infinity War, Joker I find well-made, Top Gun Maverick I found ok and Dune I like.
Gravity I found well made and Interstellar not really into that film.
Avatar I like, 300 I think it's well-made and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 I think it's rare for that sort of escapist genre to win. I agree on Gladiator. Django Unchained I don't think it's Quentin Tarantino's best film. I think it’s likely Oppenheimer will win.
It took until 2010 before a film was mentioned that I hadn’t seen. Yeah, I know, it seems insane that on this list it’s The Social Network that I haven’t seen. My best friend can’t believe I haven’t seen it, either. It’s just that watching a movie about the rise of a multi-bazillionaire just isn’t all that appealing to me, even if the film is all about the time in Zuckerberg’s life when he has nothing and is trying to take down the man.
Greatest joke: The Dark Knight did not receive Best Picture nomination in Oscar!!!
“The Three Day Rule”
Use this to determine if a movie is a masterpiece. What does it mean? If you’re still thinking about a movie three days after watching it, it’s a masterpiece. Period. End of story.
But, but, but…
What if I’m still thinking about a so-called “dumb” movie three days later, like, say, Death Becomes Her? Well, then, Death Becomes Her is a masterpiece in your unwritten book of movie masterpieces. Don’t worry if others don’t like it. Ignore the haters. If the film stuck with you for three days, it’s a masterpiece. We all have different masterpiece lists. No one agrees on everything. Own it! Be proud of it.
In my masterpiece list, it includes fan favorites like 300, The Hangover, and Bridesmaids. It also includes Mad Max Fury Road, Predator, The Running Man, and Aliens. And it includes Citizen Kane, Sin City, Edge of Tomorrow, Minority Report, The Manchurian Candidate (with Sinatra), Star Wars, The Shawshank Redemption, Being There, and The Shining…and lots of other films. 😀
Brokeback Mountain should have won Best Picture
I'm sorry but the best movie of 2000 is NOT Gladiator but it was Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon!!!!
Hello good morning
For the first time in 70 years Godzilla Is now in the oscars wow all hail to the king!!🔥
Puss in boots the last wish 2022
From a person outside the US. What is a person of color?
14:53 NOT MY FUCKING TEMPO
The best Oscar nominated movie of 2014 is “American Sniper”. Bradley Cooper’s performance as Chris Kyle is authentic, Clint Eastwood’s direction is unflinching and the story of a man’s devotion to his country at the cost of his happiness is told with tender, love and care.
You complain about the Academy being old school and yet you favor old school pic choices like 12 years a slave, spotlight and Coda over Gravity, Mad Max Furiosa and The Power of the Dog! 😅😂😂😂
Saw X was the best of 2023.. other than that A quiet place and a quiet place 2.. no other movies are any good..
Hollywood needs the old-school auteurs like Scorsese and Nolan more than ever
They left of Django unchained. That's embarrassing
Oscar award goes to Rebecca ❤❤❤
Im surprised saltburn didn't get any nominations...that was a crazy good movie...talk about mental health issues...lol
🤭
The VALHALAH RISING .
Most of these are mediocre and I'm sorry but Birdman and Nomadland were truly awful. If you want to watch an actual decent movie, watch Minari. It's the film that SHOULD have won over the boring & pointless Nomadland.
Sorry, but in my opinion both the Social Network and Citizen Kane suck
Argo is overrated and was the weakest Oscar nominee of that year. I never understood the hype. Pretty much every other movie nominated that year was better and more interesting, especially Amour, Django Unchained, Silver Lining Playbook, maybe Beasts of the Southern Wild and Life of Pi, too.
Coda was fine, but no way in hell is it a better movie than Drive My Car, Power of the Dog, Nightmare Alley or West Side Story,
Roma, Nomad, Coda zzz
I hated Nomad Land is a terrible movie!!!! Boring Boring; Coda Boring!
2001: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
2011: The Artist
2015: The Revenant
2021: The Power of the Dog
2015: mad max fury road
Every single one of these movies look horrible. How the hell can any of you people watch these movies? I think you all have very bad taste.
