Starbucks still gets credit. I can't think of another company that offers this much in benefit for part time workers. It's actually quite shocking.

@@saulgoodman2018 I have, they are all garbage. None of them offer IVF treatment. Most of all, many service gigs try to reduce hours below 40 hrs to avoid having to even pay for any health insurance.
Shout out to Starbucks for serving up high octane coffee and supporting women, family planning, and fertility treatments. Congratulations to the new moms!

Starbucks will probably stop this coverage now because no one is staying (they come for that benefit than leave). If they don't cancel it, they might up the time required to get it. I will be surprised if they do not in the not-too-distant future or cancel it outright. The problem is people talk too much.
Actually as someone who works there it isn't going anywhere. Just as they hire college kids and high schoolers my store manager says they know they will average about 6mo-1yr from the people they hire and if they get more its great! They just added more amazing benefits as of Oct 1st which helps with adoption and surrogacy. It's a benefit for all sbux gets some workers for about a year and others get our infertility coverage. Walmart and other stores such as Home Goods and Tj Maxx are adding these coverages, as well as tractor supplies. Also, their maternity leave is amazing.
@@jasminekozerski7801 it always makes me feel very disappointed about the government when a private person or company does the work that the government should be doing to improve the lives of their people. Good for Starbucks and their employees bad for the government of the country.

Actually more companies should offer fertility options, along with therapy, and college tuition reimbursement etc like Starbucks. This is one of the reasons why America is the most depressed countries on the planet but I digress!

Meanwhile FMLA is only 12 weeks and 100% unpaid, which leaves women with 2 options either quit your job or back to work and put your 12 week old child into daycare 😮 other countries offer longer leave and it's paid.
First up, CONGRATULATIONS on your growing family. I wish you a safe delivery. I am sorry that people have to resort to this to be able to afford quality medical care & reproductive services. I also feel a bit sorry for the company & other employees - insurance coverage is not "free," it is being paid for by the other people that work there. Joining a company to take advantage of an insurance benefit, only to leave soon after, ultimately hurts someone.

My wife and I are looking for companies that provide benefits for surrogacy. My company covers IVF (which we already did) but nothing for a gestational carrier, which would be our next and most expensive step (likely well over $100k for all costs).

Two things they just glossed over
1. The first woman was paying more than she earning every paycheck for the health insurance that Starbucks was offering her. She was literally PAYING to work at Starbucks.
2. They left Starbucks after they became pregnant because Starbucks pays ZERO in maternal leave.
3. Starbucks does NOT offer ANY health benefits to stores that MIGHT hold a union vote. Tbey can, have have, pulled these benefits out from under people using the excuse of union rumors. Successfully unionized Starbucks stores, however, offer full coverage of every issue mentioned in the video, as well as maternal leave.
Starbucks is not a good company. This is anti-union propaganda. I'd love to see the money trail for this one.

I find it interesting that companies will fund IVF... just an odd benefit that is offered. It's cool and all but, I feel like that's an "elective" surgery yet insurance won't cover Lasik and half do not even offer dental coverage...
Lasik and dental coverage are elective as well. If your vision or your teeth are interfering with your life in a way that's hazardous to your health, then your regular health insurance will cover the problem.

If she paid more for insurance then she got paid for working. She could have bought her own policy. That had the same benefits.
