    My mom got married as a 14 year old. Her husband was a senior, so 18 I believe. She had a really hard time breaking free from him. Thankfully she didn’t have any kids and could split from him cleanly. He was a horrible, awful person but my mom is the strongest person I know.

      My parents had a shotgun wedding, my mom was 17, they were happily married until my dad's death in 2015.
      I think it depends on culture. American culture is too Luke warm and you're treated like infants until you're 30 so of course a 15 year old woman from America shouldn't get married.
      Even though that was the norm all over the world until about 60 years ago.
      And I'm saying 15 year old woman because in nature there is adult and child no middle. If she gets pregnant she's biologically a woman and no longer a girl.

    I remember a girl from my psychology class during college. She was heavily pregnant but still attending classes. One time, we had a game in class where we pick a piece of paper from the glass bowl and read the question and answer it in front of the class. She got the question of 'If you can turn back time, what event you want to change from your past? ' then she answered when she got married. She told us she's adopted and her adopted parents forced her to marry. She begged them not to but they never felt pity on her. That's when she realized her adopted parents never love her. In a shaky voice and teary eyes, she told us that if she could turn back time she will escape and do everything in her power not to be married. I feel so sorry for her. That is when I realized how she was always look sad and quiet. She just got married and got pregnant right away.

      Because there are societies within the US it is accepted by their entire culture, even children, as a way of life and I feel we have no right to interfere. However, I do believe that there should be restrictions on why. It makes sense if it is there cultural but as in instances such as this, there is no cultural or even religious reason why a marriage makes sense. It was simply a child predator and should have been prevented. Now, is there room for error? Yes. Absolutely. And we should work hard to make sure it happens as little times as possible...or never.

    • @mugofbrown6234
      @mugofbrown6234 3 ปีที่แล้ว +270

      @@volzaac Regardless of "culture" child marriage needs to be outlawed. There's being respectful to a religious belief but the need to protect children should always be paramount. There can't be one rule for children in a secular society and one rule for children in a "religious" or "culturally different" one. Child marriage just stinks of child abuse.

      I disagree, people shouldn't be allowed to marry at the age of 18 or 19(key word "teen") because they're either in high school or just freshly out, they are barely starting their lives as adults. The earliest age someone should marry is at the age of 20 but if it where up to me people should marry at the age of 24-30 because by then the individuals are already fully formed adults with their own lives in order.
      Answer me this, would you marry someone who is unemployed, bad with money, immature and has no real skills?

    A little tip to the voiceover artist from elementary school - the word Chaste ends with a "silent/bossy e", meaning that the previous vowel is pronounced with the long vowel sound rather than short. Ergo, the word is not pronounced "Chast" but, rather, pronounced like the word "chased".

Neither her nor my grandfather had any say in this since, in Iran, the family goes up to another family and sets the two up, at least from my understanding of what was going on at the time. My grandma split up with him after she moved to America, I’m pretty sure. My name is Aaron and my gf's name is Heather. The beginning of this video was very disturbing. Fortunately, she was 24 and I was 27 when we met. Still creepy.
