People don't understand that when you get a dog you need to teach them things like you would a small child. No one is born with knowledge. Everything needs to be taught.
Exactly. My nephew didn't understand the puppy I just adopted is a clean slate. She wants him to play and uses her mouth like with me. He is to afraid to push her down and say down. Lol. She is starting to understand the down and back commands.
most people do understand, but these parents...they didn't learn their children how to behave with the dog. They are so lucky Dakota has no bit their heads of. Other dogs would have.
@@pnwobserver3343 I mean they can be but most dogs have the brain of a four-year-old so you’re calling a four-year-old a predator, which is kind of funny no offense, but I just find it funny.
Actually it breaks my heart to see a dog being mistreated and having it's needs not met. That family has no idea how much damage that Dakota could do if she had a mean bone.
It boils by blood seeing her getting abused by a family that lacks control. They not only failed as parents they failed teaching their children how to properly treat, raise a dog. The kids see the dad kicking, punching, yelling at the dog. The wirst thing a human can lack is compassion towards animals.
And if they got rid of her you would be hearing them say "we had a very unruly dog" as if it was not all their fault Dakota was very well behaved compared to what she could have been with those kind of owners
Exactly , having him consistently say that if he sees change, then he’s willing to work with her even though he is the main problem of why she is the way she is and that is awful and that’s why the children are exhibiting the same behaviours that they see from their father, he does not deserve to have her She is a fantastic dog and is very tolerant of what she has to go through and the fact that she hasn’t bit anybody just shows how tolerant she really is. She deserves so much more.
Yeah I always say you can tell what sort of a person is with the way the deal with animals lol if u can mistreat a dog or any animal then you have no heart and are evil in my eyes there the most innocent things on earth just like kids but better in my opinion lol
If a person treats an animal badly, that point blank tells me that person is no good and heartless. And that's all I need to know. After that, I take your animal one way or another if needed.
@@jeffbaldelli1268 I'll slightly disagree; It's not ALWAYS the dog owners' fault, but it's VERY VERY VERY often the dog owners' fault. By this I mean that, sometimes, there's just a dangerous dog born and that's all there is to it. But how often is that versus how often is it the owners' fault... Yeah, it's nearly always owners' fault.
@@Danny01474 No dog is born dangerous. It all depends on the upbringing of the owners and how they deal with the dog. Some can do that and some can't. like the ones in the video. If you don't have what it takes to take proper care of your dog and train it, you should leave it alone because you are not capable of keeping an animal. (It's not an attack, by the way, I just wanted to say it.)
@Leni_Malfoy some actually are born with brain deformities or develop tumors that can cause behavioral issues but that is rare not impossible but rare
Man this is so frustrating. Because that's a really nice dog and for the right person, she could be an amazing sport companion. She's begging for something to do. Instead she's left to walk on eggshells, punished for being a BULL TERRIER. Why get one if you don't want this personality??
Right?! The poor dog is constantly asking someone to play with her 😭 They have a puppy and are abusing it. This is so upsetting. Wish Victoria would force a rehome.
The thing I like most about this episode is a tiny detail: In the first week, when Victoria was there, Dakota had her tail between her legs almost the whole time when Joe was training her, but in the last few scenes she was wagging her tail and seemed so much more relaxed. It really looks like she build some trust towards her owner and that's beautiful!
Whatbis wrong with the parents just because Victoria is there she thinks its fine to let the baby go toward the dog who is clearly beefing with neighbours dog and I'm very surprised the dog can't jump that fence coz mines littler than her nd mine could no probs
I think she just meant energetic in having 3 boys running riot and full of energy. I have 3 sons, all adults now but when they were young they’d bounce off the walls lol.
@@thomasjones7006she wasnt doing either. she was just trying to figure out what he was doing. curious. didnt fully get that he was sad, wanted to find out more. she wasnt trying to bite him, and she wasnt trying to comfort him
The dad said he’s “only had her a year and tried to get rid of her twice…no one in the house wants the dog but the mom”. It’s seeming like the men in the house just aren’t dog people. They should rehome her.
This family barely watches their own children, let alone their dog. The mom saying "he was too fast for me" when the kid was literally waddling at a snail's pace was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I don't think the parents are present at all--they barely interact with each other, their kids, that dog, it's like they're living on another planet
it irritates me how the mum specifically looked for a high energy dog but then didn't bother letting the dog get its energy out and punishing the dog for being overly hyper like every dog needs some activity, so imagine how a dog specifically that's very active and high energy and sociable feels when it gets no positive attention or output
It does make me wonder choosing a bull terrier instead of a lower energy cocker spaniel. Mom sounds delusional and dad didn’t want a dog, he likes the IDEA of a dog but not the real deal.
I’m also annoyed bc the mother just is okay with her kids really hurting this dog and just says “oh, the boys have a lot of energy.” I’m not saying beat up your child but at least tell them that that isn’t okay
You know, this man is the first owner in this show who uses a torture collar not as the last resort for an unruly dog, but more like "why not? I don't like her"
Even with normal leash he tries to control Dakota every step... He pulls her and hangs her on the leash... Its SO VISABBLE ...this guy really disgust me
Okay but he never got upset at being corrected by her or genuinely argued. Bro just didn't know, and now he does, and I think that his attitude towards it was amazing honestly.
THAT was the best part! Sure he didn’t know before, but the fact that he seemed to want to improve is good. Better than the alternative. We cannot undo bad choices, but attempts to better themselves improve upon bad choices is always commendable.
She really does and her grabbing that swing when the child is on it she is playing she ain’t being violent that’s what my aunties English bull terrier does
when she said "we researched" i was calling SUCH bull crap bc the first thing about terriers is that they are not dogs good with small children 😭 this dog is literally meant to herd
@@jennifertanbully breeds are extremely affectionate dogs. Channels like this are EDUCATIONAL and VERY NECESSARY. Thank you for lending your expertise. Will save a lot of animals some unfair and unwarranted stress. Thank you
Right? A chaotic home is the worst place to be for a high energy dog. A calm animal that can ignore the party would fit in so much better, but tbh I don’t know why they even got a dog in the first place? They don’t seem to be doing anything with her!
I noticed both parents doing that, not just the mother. Neither of them seemed to understand that they are parents to their children, and responsible for their safety.
A common mistake is to think a lot going on is the same as high energy. Guess people think it sounds better to describe themselves as energetic. So many people tend to pick dogbreeds based on what they want to be and not what they are.
I actually cried when I saw the way he was using that choke chain. The way they absolutely abused this dog in the name of training is ridiculous and she was actually soo sweet and if she really wanted to hurt them, she could easily do that but just the fact that she doesn't says how sweet she is. This family doesn't deserve this pup. And the children are learning the wrong things. Also I CANNOT understand how this family thought that getting a bull terrier was okay for their kind of family. thats some BS research they did. Also this is the kind of family who wouldn't even be able to handle the friendliest of dogs, idk how they wanted a bull terrier.
The way she reacting to the husband during training…my heart broke. The wife’s face looked like she was looking at him in a completely different way too
i would not be so sure that his wife directly looked at him - they often cut it like that to make it look a certain way or to emphasize the impression...
As a dog owner the best change I made was to realize if my dog is doing something “bad” it’s because I am not doing something right, whether it’s training, or showing a behaviour, or not enough attention/exercise. If my dog is struggling it’s becuase of me
Doggen Z McRuff As a human owner, the best change I made was to realize if my human is doing something bad it is because I am not doing something right, whether it’s training, or showing a behaviour, or not enough attention/exercise. If my human is struggling it’s because of me.
I am so glad that this family are humle enough to received correction and have a new bond with their dog. I hope all goes well, and their kids will also be able to have a good healthy relationship growing up with their beloved pet, and long lasting memories too. Wishing this family all the best.
I got an instant bad gut feeling about that guy 😟 if he treats his dog like that on camera I can only imagine what he’s like when cameras are not around. Poor dog 😢 I hope she’s been rehomed to a more suitable home
My daughter is 3. Ever since she was a baby I introduced her to different animals and told her they were "aww, love". She is so gentle and caring I am now teaching her not all animals need to be touched and loved, just like people. It is very telling how impacted not only the dog, the children were by their parents relationship and treatment of the dog.
We do similar with our little cousins. We tell them “Gentle, soft” and demonstrate by gently petting the animal. They love our animals and our animals love them too 🥰
1:27 that toddler kicking at the dog is WILD imo it's v telling of her temperment that she just lets them treat her like that and continues wagging her tail i guess she's used to it, but she doesnt even seem phased by it. she's a sweetie
Exactly... My cat would claw those kids eyes for half of things those brats do to this poor dog... Dakota have actually very good temper and is very patient
Tail wagging isn't always a happy thing. Dogs wag their tail when excited; there's good excitement and bad excitement. She was definitely anxious when the kid was aggressive with her. Her tail wag was one of her behavior cues indicating that. However, she managed that anxiety very well and tried to avoid the situation rather than get aggressive. So I definitely agree her temperament is good, just that the tail wag was an anxious one and not a happy one.
Ok wait so they did “research” and decided a Bull terrier is a good fit with a young family….what research did they do. This is typical bull terrier behaviour and they should have never ever got one.
My thoughts exactly. My parent's neighbors had two bullterriers and two kids. Wife trained dogs and those were best behaving dogs in the whole neighborhood. She was carrying a kid and had dog's leash on her waist. But she was exception and it need time and experience to have such dogs.
Yes our EBT'S are not for first time dog owners and that family is lucky the dog wasnt a male EBT as they are 10x more powerful and have 5x more energy
No, the woman clearly says they researched for what dogs were "very high energy"-NOT that they researched what dogs were a good fit for a family pet nor with young children.
Man what a beautiful turnaround. It takes a lot of effort to train a dog among other life responsibilities. I'm very happy that these parents are willing to be taught, and i genuinely hope that they continue treating and training Dakota right. What amazing progress theyve made so far!
what bothers me to no end whether it's in this show or something I see in real life is when small children are mishandling an animal and the parent says nothing about it or does nothing to stop it. Absolutely hate that
It's seriously frustrating when these owners use these trash accessories: choke chain, choke collar, shock collar, shock mats, etc, and never try it to see how it affects their pets.
it's when the tools are used incorrectly is the problem and most owners aren't properly educated how to use them. Then we got owners that look for "shortcuts" in training. hate those kind of owners. they basically think the tool magically makes the dog well behaved in mins when really you still have to put in the work.
@@twilightmarichat1854 Calling some, if not all of these things "tools" when used on an animal you are supposed to love and train lovingly, is like calling a cat o' nine tails a "tool" to be used in whipping children. There is no properly educated way to inflict pain on someone who loves you and is dependent on you..
It’s unfair to the boys in the house to have an animal there that they don’t want. Rehoming is the only cure here unless they plan on letting the only person in the house that likes the dog, the mom to be 100% responsible for it.
I disagree with it but I’ve seen people do corrective smacks on dogs and they have never been that hard or that immediate- the way he lashed out then and then the way he yanked on her choke collar chilled me
Clearly they don’t want a dog. They don’t walk her they don’t train her they don’t let out the dogs flipping energy and these poor kids are like we want our energy let out to suddenly attack the freaking dog and the dogs like yo you wanna play to I’ll bite your hand. Just go to my kids too much stuff to think about you don’t need a dog… I know she fixes the problem but like honestly they are the problem, not the dog
so true, that dog needs an owner who is as active and energetic as her and who is willing and happy to play and exercise with her. regardless that dad has anger issues, and the kids have taken to hitting her as well. that's dangerous behaviour.
@ShokiiDubs Yes. The whole time I was watching I was wondering if Joe treats his kids and wife the same way when they do something he doesn't like. And the mom is just clueless. The poor fog should be rehomed.
Hes abuser, he doesn't care about anyone wellbeing just about reputation. If his kids get bit he may hide it from neighbours - but if neighbours kids get bit he can't hide from it.
They are oblivious. Did not see the danger of their toddler approaching the dog in a frenzy, towards the neighbor's dog. They don't perceive or understand.
Do you even watch the episode? His children are his first concern. The woman wanted a dog, did not train him, he comes home and sees the children are terrified of the dog. Looks like the mother is more concerned with keeping the dog than the safety of her children
@@kathybrem880there's no need to wait for the kids to be teens. I have 4 kids, the youngest is now 9, and we've had dogs their whole lives. But I actually work with my dogs from day 1, and I took the time to teach my kids how to be around dogs. We've never had an issue with bites or aggression. Dogs and kids can coexist, but the adults in the situation need to understand their role and responsibility.
i can honestly say i think the owner kinda was forced to open his eyes and seeing him biking with her running beside him it’s a huge transformation and i really think he started changing the way he is with her. it’s just really nice to see.
Then you're a responsible pet owner. Would not believe how many pets I rescued because the boyfriend or girlfriend 'didn't want them around' anymore. That's why I say, if your so wants you to do that, then yeah - find someone who loves animals. Lots of guys out there who are pet lovers. Same with girls.
@@rrrealqueen If he cared about his kids or anybody else's safety he would've trained the damn dog in the first place. I don't think it takes a genius to realize hitting a dog is going to create an unhealthy and violent environment, regardless of the dog being overwhelming or not.
Not necessarily nasty. What they are to the core is IGNORANT! They don't know anything about owning and caring for a dog, nor have they bothered to do a little research and LEARN SOMETHING! They are the kind of owners who teach dogs bad behavior!
They asked for help and could reflect on their bad ways, so there’s more than zero insight. Being this nasty and judgemental is pointless. Is Veronica like that? It’s the same energy as them being so brutal and nasty on their dog
If these people cared about being good pet owners, they would’ve researched how to be. The dog is an accessory for them, like a picket fence or a two car garage
Amazing to see what bringing awareness does to a frustrated person. it's an unhelpful thing to say: he is an abuser, he's bad and shouldn't have dogs. The difficult option is: communicate and show what is happening. Slowly bring awareness to reading the dogs behavior and his own actions. Then the frustration can slowly dissipate because now he learns what to do that actually makes the dog happy and therefor also him. In the end its a slow road but one that is better for everyone. Well done! And to him too, for being ok with showing this process for a wide audience!
@@mifrappey I just fear that when you say that, that stops any dialogue. Yet, we live on this planet all together and dialogue is a chance of improving. Giving up on someone because of an action you disagree with might not that person, nor the interactions that person will have in the future. Without learning, that unwanted behavior will continue. As you probably have learned to better some things in yourself
Those children are not too young to be taught to be kind to the dog or any other animal. That man is horrible and his violence makes matters worse. The wife wants things to work out and seems kind.
Nah the man is not horrible. He wants the “classical” and “cinematic” relationship that society portrays that people will have with their dogs. However, he doesn’t understand that it takes training to get there and his understanding of training is clearly misguided and wrong. His temper was also short, but the long and frustrating situation likely played a major role in that. By the end of the episode he realized how to actually bond with his dog and seemed so much more happy- and even relieved- with the situation. As for the kids, that was a whole mess. They were following their parents example and their parents allowed them to do so. Furthermore, it endangered the kids’ safety. Victoria’s lesson on how to treat dogs was great for teaching them. Lastly, the wife was definetly the one who contacted Victoria or had the idea of it, but she still contributed to the situation. While she had good intentions, she was still causing the situation to become worse. She said that she couldn’t imagine her life without Dakota, which seems to suggest to me that she was more in love with the idea of Dakota being in her life than the actual reality of the situation. I think a key thing to note is how she allowed her son to wander over to the dog during the scrap through the fence. Yes, they’re focusing on the training aspect of it but your family still matters as well. It was also good that Victoria corrected her on this, though it was a little harsh but it was out of concern rather than hostility. From what I could tell, however, the wife wanted a dog but didn’t really seem to be near as involved as she should have been, considering her position on the issue. Overall, it was amazing to see both the dog and the owners react so positively to the training methods Victoria gave them. I think it’s important that if owners call a dog trainer that they are willing to put in the work themselves and be taught. If they expect the trainers to do it all, then they themselves will not form a bond with their dogs that are important for obedience and understanding.
Correct. Shameful English Bull Terriers are GREAT PUPS... FULL OF ENERGY, FUNNY. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING.... TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. KINDNESS. HIGH EXPECTATIONS. PROVIDE ACTIVITIES- MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY
What a great service, Victoria! Thank you! Dakota is so adorable and really needed some encouragement by her family. Mandy stood by her. Joe's negative behavior was very concerning in the beginning, but so glad to see that he came around. Hope Dakota continues to get a lot of exercise and love. I wish happiness for the whole family.
In this case it's a justified question, but for me it's not easy because my family and friends don't cooperate. We have a 5 months old terrier mix and he is very hyper all the time so this turning back and soothing period takes time. They think we are to strict / it's unnecessary and they don't take it seriously. Very frustrating.
@@Tothkaresz I have the same problem with friends and family that come to visit. I put my dog in a sit stay at the the door and try to train my dog not to jump on people, in general, but especially at the door. My friends and family know she harmless and just wants to say hi, so they don't listen when I tell them to ignore her or turn away. A stranger (sales person, delivery person) doesn't know that she's harmless and could try to back away and end up tripping on the stairs or overreact which could get us sued if someone gets injured. Maybe I need new friends, because I'd never get rid of my dog, lol.
It also upsets me that the husband is ok with going behind his wife's back to try and sell the dog against her will, that's not respectful. Yes the dogs out of control but you don't get rid of your spouses pets without their consent!

@@MammaM1217 Yes, definitely troubling. He acted like being kind to your dog was a sign of weakness & was too focused on his own aggression towards the dog, as if that ever worked . I sent this to my daughter, she needs to watch it, she just asked if I knew anyone that would want her full bloodied German Shephard I said no and if she goes to the pound they will put her down, I told her work with her give her lots of love, hope this video helps her out and helps her dog.
I think we need to give the family grace for completely opening their minds to Victoria's methods and training. They felt remorse and they really committed to changing their behaviours, resulting in such a more harmonious setup in the home. Those poor kids and the parents were stressed out of their mind, and who wouldn't be, when they had no fundamentals or controls in place with a very powerful animal in the home. The kids were copying what they saw their parents do, and everyone was in survival mode just trying to defend themselves, which of course meant Dakota had to defend herself too. I'm so glad to see such a transformation in their dynamic, and that Dakota is getting the respect and appreciation she deserves and needs to thrive.
It was so sad and frustrating to watch the early part of this episode. Terriers are wonderful dogs, but they are a lot of effort! They need a lot of exercise, training and socialisation. I loved the last scene of Joe taking her out cycling, that's just what she needs. I hope they keep (kept?) up with the training and set Dakota up for success!
The episode is from 2011, which is why it has the more conflict-centric editing for the "drama" compared to the newer episodes which concentrate more on cooperation.
I liked seeing Joe bond with the dog. Coda seemed so much calmer towards the end. I hope they continued the training and they and Coda lived their best lives

This guy is aggressive all around not just because of the dog. The way he talks to his wife, body, and facial expression. Even when the trainer is trying to help on how to work with Dakota he reeks aggression
If he was “aggressive all round” he wouldn’t be open to training, seek help, praise the dog, smile, work with the dog, be affectionate, take it riding, as the episode showed. A lot of people in the comment project super-negative narratives on to the people that don’t match up.

no he is not 💀 if you take like 5 minutes to watch the other parts of the videos, that’s literally just how he talks and acts. when Victoria asks him to be more excitable and animated around the dog, his tone is still pretty flat. it’s just his personality. if he is truly aggressive, i don’t think that he would’ve called the trainer to help him solve the issues with his dog. what’s aggressive is you trying to come at him with your own tone. 🤷🏽♂️
That was super One of the best i've seen. All done with kindness and training. I've a feeling your children will also turn out well, with kindness and training.
My advice to anybody is don't own dogs unless you are both in agreement with it; Myself and my husband decided not to have dogs until our children were much older, otherwise it causes friction, or worse in relationships. It's so obvious that the husband doesn't want the dog, and that's his right.
You're very right about that. I just think in this case they both wanted the dog, but he didn't get the well behaved dog he wanted, and then he wanted to give her up. My advice to anyone deciding to get a dog is to know it will take work to teach and nurture and socialise, and a new owner has as much to learn as the dog.
I've seen many people in this show who didn't want the dog initially, but that's the first time I see a person who so willingly abuses the unwanted dog. Sort this out with your wife, not with the poor thing, for Christ's sake!
@@AnnKovshova I think this wife needs to sort herself new husband. If someone hits the dog its only a matter of time when he hits you when you do something he doesn't like. Peoples whos response to undesirable behaviour is violence its a HUGE red flag.
He (the male owner) needs to be disciplined (for pointlessly and cruelly hitting the dog). The dog needs to be trained. (Edits added in parentheses to clarify meaning)
After 01:00 I had to stop, typical it's a bull sort again !! It's the owners wo can be dangerous, not the dogs !! If you can't handle there kind of energetic dogs don't have them.
Those parents aren't even able to teach their children how to interact with another living being, but thought "hey lets get a Bull Terrier cause we are a really energetic family"!? I feel so sorry for the dog. Bull Terrier can be amazing family members but they are (like all breeds) not for every family and you've got to put actual work and time into training the dog. And also the time and effort to educate yourself.
I LOVE how the husband said "It's humbling to be corrected". I was positive he was being sullen and resentful, and had remained thoroughly oblivious unconvinced but I stand corrected.
After seeing this, I immediately ran to my dogs and began petting and hugging them. I couldn’t even imagine treating them like that even if they did frequently misbehave. Like, imagine doing that to your child. If you had some sense of humanity, you’d not even think of doing that. It’s the same thing with animals
When the little boy grabs the muzzle, it's as if the dog turns to Victoria and says *please help me* 🥺 I love this show. I'm so glad it is back. I have been binging for days to catch up on every thing I've missed 🖤🤌 you're amazing Victoria! Thank you ☺️💯
I have really well behaved dogs, but if someone grabbed my labs face like that I firmly believe she would snap at them. If you're gonna have dogs with kids you HAVE to teach the kids how to be around the dog.
Its funny how ppl are willing to be known as animal abusers so long as they get to be on TV. Like, that's the light you're willing to be shown in? Walk into the grocery store, ppl recognize you and go "You're the ones that abused your dog right?"
The guy's ignorant. He doesn't know, that having a dog means investing time, love and energy into the dog. The only animal he should have is a stuffed one
@@piaogilvie8463you should tell his wife that, at least he TRIES. She refuses to invest any energy or time and then says oh well idk but I’m keeping her. Pathetic. He didn’t want the dog.
What they should of got is a older rescue, basic training is already under thier belt. Have naturally a lower energy when around the house, but will still happy go a on a day out with the family.
I let my puppers run and play in the backyard whenever she wants. Lol. Tons of toys. She can't play with her buddy for another week which sucks for them bothv
I don't think it's a problem for a high energy family to have a high energy dog, if the family constructively channels the energy. One high energy family will just be chaotic and drive the dog nuts, while another will use the energy to do things together and with the dog that will be great fun and enrichment/adventure/experience for the dog, and allow the dog to constructively use its energy-- e.g., hiking, going to the beach and doing zoomies up and down the shoreline, digging in the sand, etc, going to the dog park or the people park and playing frisbee or fetch, etc.
There are different types of high energy. I would have recommended a cocker. My cousin has a cocker very soft with the kids but is high energy. You can sit in a chair and throw the ball
The one thing these people did right was hire a good dog trainer. So many people aren't even willing to do that. And props to them for making so much progress and not giving up!
It’s so good to watch a family do such an amazing turn around with their dog and the way they handle the situation. They really took her advice. Dakota is an incredible dog and she deserves the absolute best. Hopefully they will keep up their attention to her training and proper management.
Poor little Dakota. Absolutely breaks my heart when I see people treat their dogs like this and then blame the dog, as if the dog isn't forming itself after you.
He tried to give the dog away online... is he sounds like an total waste of life. From what im seeing is that shes still a puppy and she wants to play. The pulling of the swing, going after the broom and stuff is play. She isnt being played with and she wants to interact but shes not being taught how to safely play with everyone.
Why is no one talking about how the friend let the dog out?! The dog was clearly trying to get out, everyone was yelling about it and the friend still opened the door.
seeing the way this man “disciplines” his dog makes me think about the way he probably “disciplines” his children. so many red flags here 🚩I hope that poor pup found a home she deserves.
so so many people on here quick to judge :/ did you even watch the whole video? he was clearly just taught wrong/picked up bad advice and thought it would work...
They say they want a high energy dog because they’re a energetic family. A high energy dog needs to be walked twice a day needs to go running hiking needs a ton of brain stimulating activities, not just be thrown into the backyard.
I have an 8 month old American bulldog , she’s the biggest dog we’ve had (we had staffys before) and she’s the most powerful. We waited until our kids were all adults before getting her. She goes training weekly and has 3 hours of walking a day with activities at home. We paid for our trainer to come home so as to make sure we were doing things right for when our 4yr old granddaughter visits. You want a dog, then do the work.
I trained my pups when we first got them, and one continued pooping in the house and then running from my husband. I found out that my husband was 'punishing' him, so I retaught my husband. My pup doesnt poop in the house AT ALL anymore, and has a great relationship with my husband now. Reward training works so much better for dogs than punishment training.
People don't understand that when you get a dog you need to teach them things like you would a small child. No one is born with knowledge. Everything needs to be taught.

most people do understand, but these parents...they didn't learn their children how to behave with the dog.
Yes! The dog just wants to be loved, trained and played with
...Dakota actually seems like a sweet dog, just need some training and care
Well put
Exactly! She’s begging for attention and guidance. The way they allow their children to handle this dog is just disturbing.
especially when he hits him!
It boils by blood seeing her getting abused by a family that lacks control. They not only failed as parents they failed teaching their children how to properly treat, raise a dog. The kids see the dad kicking, punching, yelling at the dog. The wirst thing a human can lack is compassion towards animals.
And if they got rid of her you would be hearing them say "we had a very unruly dog" as if it was not all their fault
Dakota was very well behaved compared to what she could have been with those kind of owners

I noticed both parents doing that, not just the mother. Neither of them seemed to understand that they are parents to their children, and responsible for their safety.

it's an unhelpful thing to say: he is an abuser, he's bad and shouldn't have dogs.

@@rottweiler938 no doll... He is terrible...
Funny thing is that what you wrote actually confirms that...
They see their father hitting the dog .and they think that ok
We are seeing him after months of frustration. He might be a very nice man.

They wanted a tough looking dog, they didn't think you have to put work into them!
Correct. Shameful
English Bull Terriers are GREAT PUPS... FULL OF ENERGY, FUNNY.

HOW IS TURNING YOUR BACK TO A DOG A STRUGGLE
I thought the same thing 😂
If you afraid of the dog its hard to turn your bac on them for some folks probably
@@stacyqualls7359yes, I have learned that somebody who will not respect the boundaries I've asked them to regarding my animals, is a red flag.
It also upsets me that the husband is ok with going behind his wife's back to try and sell the dog against her will, that's not respectful. Yes the dogs out of control but you don't get rid of your spouses pets without their consent!
I agree with you, but it is clear he doesn't want a dog, period. For all we know, she went out and picked this one up without his consent. It sounds like their marriage isn't perfect.
the worst is that he hits him!
That’s just poor communication and decision-making.
He definitely shows an attitude that I wouldn't be OK with in my home.
@@MammaM1217 Yes, definitely troubling. He acted like being kind to your dog was a sign of weakness & was too focused on his own aggression towards the dog, as if that ever worked . It looked like he was learning, though, and nice to see him be affectionate towards the dog after a good training. I hope that continues for everyone’s sake.
I sent this to my daughter, she needs to watch it, she just asked if I knew anyone that would want her full bloodied German Shephard I said no and if she goes to the pound they will put her down, I told her work with her give her lots of love, hope this video helps her out and helps her dog.
As I once heard, "dog training isn't for the dog, it's for the humans."
No its absoloutly for both. To keep both safe.
It's both if u aren't an experienced trainer
When the girl said that she couldn’t imagine life without Dakota I was like yeah right! She neglects her dog!
Yeah I felt like she was framed to be good in this episode despite her inattentiveness to the dogs and the kids.
@@MelatoninCapallini legit like if my husband hated my dog that much, i’d rehome for his sake and my children’s sake.

@@Gaius__I’m curious if the dog is still with them or they finally gave her to someone else for the better
@@imalwaysright 👏 👏 👏 all of these people are so judgmental and make assumptions about this man as a dad and a person because he doesn’t like a dog? If he was so horrible he wouldn’t have invited a camera crew inside his home to try and fix the situation.
@@imalwaysrightI had the same feeling. Very fast judging people.
Seems we’ve got another psychologist in the comments lol. You can’t make such drastic assumptions about someone just from watching 1 video that was filmed during a difficult time in their life.
no he is not 💀 if you take like 5 minutes to watch the other parts of the videos, that’s literally just how he talks and acts. when Victoria asks him to be more excitable and animated around the dog, his tone is still pretty flat. it’s just his personality. if he is truly aggressive, i don’t think that he would’ve called the trainer to help him solve the issues with his dog. what’s aggressive is you trying to come at him with your own tone. 🤷🏽♂️
That was super
One of the best i've seen.
If someone hits the dog its only a matter of time when he hits you when you do something he doesn't like.

then you throw out the husband or tell him he got the kids... so, you should be allowed at least a dog
He (the male owner) needs to be disciplined (for pointlessly and cruelly hitting the dog). The dog needs to be trained.

Also remember a bully is someone who has been bullied a lot. How can he know how to relate unless he is taught?
After 01:00 I had to stop, typical it's a bull sort again !! It's the owners wo can be dangerous, not the dogs !! If you can't handle there kind of energetic dogs don't have them.
“We want a high energy dog because we have a high energy (hectic) family” wtfwtfwtf lol
Everyone is attacking the husband but look at the progress they made it's absolutely amazing!!!
He is the problem, the dog can pick up that he doesn't like her!!!!!
Victoria Stilwell did incredibly well with this family. She actually got to them and when they started to listen, they started to learn.
Well done all
I am thinking the same too. They humble enough to received correction. all the best to them with dakota and many good memories to come.
When the little boy grabs the muzzle, it's as if the dog turns to Victoria and says *please help me* 🥺
I love this show.
The pay better be worth it 😅

Yeah! Like maam you don’t match, you balance
There are different types of high energy.
I would have recommended a cocker.
My cousin has a cocker very soft with the kids but is high energy.
You can sit in a chair and throw the ball
Thank you to Victoria and the family who gave their dogs the training and just WONDERFUL how this is working out!!!
The guys arms are crossed he doesn’t care he simply doesn’t want to deal with it. The dog needs a new home with a better family who love him.

It’s so good to watch a family do such an amazing turn around with their dog and the way they handle the situation. They really took her advice. Dakota is an incredible dog and she deserves the absolute best. Hopefully they will keep up their attention to her training and proper management.
It's so heartwarming to see the people evolve and relate to their dog...love the harness with the two points of contact! Thank you Victoria.

People should prove they're able to be good pet owners. For each pet application.
They say they want a high energy dog because they’re a energetic family. A high energy dog needs to be walked twice a day needs to go running hiking needs a ton of brain stimulating activities, not just be thrown into the backyard.
any grown man hitting an animal is a coward. if i were his wife i would be questioning his character.
Joe is a coward and a bully.
These parents are negligent and naive…. They don’t need any animals while tied up with little ones. Such a dangerous environment for all
Aggression breeds aggression. So sad to see a dog being abused in that way. A choke chain is exactly what it says on the tin!
That is so heartbreaking and sad don’t hurt the poor dog makes me upset and so sad no dog deserves to be treated like this! 😮
