I'm so happy for Meek and I love how he is glowing Physically and mentally. We call it "the jail glow". I'm from Philly streets and this Commonwealth system here is way pass its time to change. This system is almost Medieval and def unfair and needs to be changed ASAP. Funny thing is when the rest of the world hears his story about his struggle with the P.A justice system. They are so shocked and taken aback. It's sad because as Philly & P.A natives we are so used to the system and how it works here that we are not suprised and its a normal thing to us. Most of us here have more usually 5 to10 loved ones in jail and most of the time the sentence is almost dramatic like and undeserving. Its sad that we just except it. The worst part is, is we are so set up to loose Even when released on probation or parole, 9 out of 10 they def go right back within a short amount of time, we know for a fact it's set up for failure. The prison system is Very BIG MONEY. I forgot how much the state gets per immate and I dont just wanna throw out a random number but, trust me its a pretty penny. And the stories I hear about the horrible quality, (garbage like), small portions of food and much more are nauseating. So we know the money is def. not spent on the immates. it is'nt unusual for us here to get one or two calls a day from a loved one in jail. All this being said here in Philly, Meek coming home was a BIG victory like moment for us. It means way more to us then others outside our state "Might" not fully understand. I am not saying that Meek should Just drop everything he has going on in llife to become a full time activist or the next Dr. Martin Luther King J.R . Like he said life is hard eough and he has his own battles and challanges and is responsible for large amount of people. And' his music is strong enough that he can continue to do his job with music, using that way do his part on spreding the word and educating the people (Mainly the Youth). Wrapping this up, Meek has a higher reach when it comes to peope of importance and even the wealthy. I think that he should reach out and with others create some kind of group or program of advocatcy for the people who are fighting criminal legal cases and the incarcerated . I'm quite sure there is prob already an Advocate for this system but, 9 out of 10 its either an old and outdated program and or it is'nt strong enough. Messed up part is even if there is Advocate for these people, they more then likey have no idea it exist or are'nt aware what its meaning of use is. And' once again if there is an Advocate system it should definitely be some kind of law which says that the government "MUST" be obligated to educate the immates of these programs and the proper way to use them for their situation. So #WelcomeHomeMeek and please help put together some type of "Help". #PhillyStandUp

I am not a Meek fan, but a lot of the things that have been reported about his case harken to a flawed system. Look for yourself, it made my heart hurt. His mugshots when he was arrested for the original charge look like he survived some corrupt mess.
He is imperfect but aside from the tainted allegations in the case that earned him the 8 years probation, his moves have been misdemeanor at best. The technical violations that extended his probation would have been wrist slaps (fines, community service) for other citizens.
His art may make it easy to view him as a thug, but that doesn't mean that is who he is. No more than these buttoned up briefcase toting smooth talking guys are trust worthy because they seem unassuming.
And if we are wrong (to put trust or hope in his intentions) his fall will be hell - but, unless he is a sociopath, he is not what he has been reported to be by his detractors. He is a guy like hundreds of thousands all over the nation, who are caught in a flawed system.
That's my observation.
