My take on Kanye is that he is trying to spark thought in people that simply follow the masses rather than their individual thought process. Many people follow others to fit in and to not be thought of as crazy. People are so programmed to go with the flow rather than challenge the grain. Kanye is sparking thought while at the same time promoting himself and his art. He has gotten all of you talking, which is one of the the end goals. Free marketing is what he is getting in addition to getting you all to think rather than to believe and go with everything you’re told.
Jonathan Bunce I have to disagree with simply because Ye never said he agrees with everything Trump stands for. He likes how trump doesn't hold his tongue and speaks his mind, and achieves what he sets his mind on. The message he is getting out is that we as a people need to get away from the imprisoned thought process as programmed by society and its elites. You should watch both the video with T.I. and CTGod. I feel as though you are accepting what the masses are saying in the media. Don't get me wrong he needs to do better at explaining what he means by his rants, but if your read between the lines (no slight to you) you will get fully what his intentions are. As I said before he is trying to spark thought to uplift us all and away from the go with flow mentality of the masses.

So here's how I see this situation. Kanye has found a perspective of openness, freedom, acceptance, love, and tolerance for people that he may have disagreements with. Him supporting Trump is his way of bridging the gap between the left and right. From "Bush hates black people." to "Trump is my Brother." shows that there's a missed perspective in the public. We don't have to hate Trump. It's a really hard thing to show, but people need to understand that Trump is in large part, the counterculture to the far left. SOMETHING has happened to our country that shined a spotlight on our people, and a lot of it is around a puritanic requirement if you want to exist socially. It feels like the environment is "one false move, and I'ma beat you like you stole somethin." and that's creating this backlash from people who view these standards to be crazy. Trump culturally represents dissent. And dissent is good, but only when people can communicate effectively. Trump is not the character to try and change his mind or conversate with to make progress. He's the character that creates the environment where people can have civil discussions about hard things. But WE as a society need to get to a place where we are ready and able to listen to what each other has to say. T.I. is a perfect example of how to have these disscussions. Open your mind, try and understand the other persons perspective, and find common ground.
Right now, people are more interested in staying in their bubble, and fighting to keep people in their bubble (as T.I. admits he's doing to Kanye, which in turn is exactly why Kanye is on the other side), and when people step out of that bubble, then people lose their minds over it. That kind of behavior needs to stop, because it only segments people even further into boxes, and because of the puritan nature of these bubbles (mostly on the far left), the people in these bubbles will eventually eat their own, as they are currently doing with Kanye.
