    I drive these in Japan and your comments are spot on. The newer injected trucks are a bit better on the highway, though. My 2016 Daihatsu will cruise all day at 105kph / 5000RPM. 120kph for short bursts if the wind, incline and traffic allow but it’s not for the faint hearted. Happiest at 80 to 105.

      Awesome feedback thanks. for now in Canada 2003 is as new as we can bring in so it will be some time before we see those newest models here. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      15-year import rule? I think it's 20 Down Under. Separately, you might enjoy this vid of a sled being loaded on a mini truck. As you know, Japanese mini trucks are brilliant little beasts... th-cam.com/video/MUSyVto0vXA/w-d-xo.html

    Hello. I found your Mini Truck videos in a search for an ignition issue I am having with mine (DA63T). Your walk around videos are excellent really helped me to navigate where everything is located when I have a problem. I am British and live in the Japanese countryside and these kei-trucks as they call them here (k means karui, Japanese for light just in case you didn't know!). I bought my truck off a friend for 40,000 yen (USD370!). 169,000 on the clock. Never had a problem since buying until my, I suspect, starter motor issue right now or maybe the spark plugs - I just hear a clicking sound, no ignition sound at all. They are incredible work horses. Even my 2WD can still make it up narrow dirt tracks high into the mountains to collect firewood. More so, the load they can bare belies it's size!. Cheers!

      ... and yes, 60-80kph she purrs along without any strain or excess revving.

    This is the first of all the video's Ive watched where someone shows the actual limitations of such a small vehicle, I assume the 2wd version isn't any faster either?

    I've got a 94 D51T with 13" wheels on it, noticing that I may be the only one that does. Seems like they've all got 12s.
    (Recently acquired and learning. Thinking of some 14s with the 2"lift. Nissan has same bolt pattern)

    I guess it would be hard for you to find hills. Do you have any feed back on how much speed you loose going up hills

    • @4sonsoffroad
      @4sonsoffroad  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ya out on the prairie there are not much for hills close by. I would think you could hold 75-80 in 4th on a big hill

      Four Sons Off-Road Inc. Yep, that’s about right. You’ll be closer to 60 with any sort of load, though, unless you’re prepared to rev its nuts off. The trick is to go with the flow. Don’t expect them to haul ass like an F150. Just enjoy them for the brilliant little trucks they are.

    • @4sonsoffroad

      It really varies depending on the details. But with upgrades a DA63T would range from $13,000+ in Canadian $'s

    Hi, I am from a different part of the world but it shouldn't matter. My uncle has one like this, and it has problem.
    Every time we start the car, after a few seconds the idle drops, to the point that it is very close to stalling. This happens every cold start, or when the engine has cooled down a little.
    We suspect that the coolant temperature sensor is giving a bad reading as I have never really seen the "cold" coolant symbol, and it does throw a check engine light sometimes.

    I would totally agree I wouldn't like to push the vehicle past 80kph it's very shaky and not very good for the engine.
